Working as intended?

I love this Wii version, it"s the ultimate RE4 edition! You can use your Wavebird or Gamecube controller if you don't

oops... I hit some weird button... sorry to double post...

I love this game! The Wii version is the Ultimate version of RE4, you can play it with the nunchuck & wii mote to aim... or use your old Gamecube controller! It boasts the best of both the Gamecube & PS2 versions... I used the $5 off at BB coupon for Wii games... plus $15 in rewards coupons... and paid $10.49 new for this game... WOO!

any tips for
row d of the shooting range, i got to the part to get the rare ones so the targets changed, and Ashley is everywhere.

About Seperate Ways:

It almost feels like it's the true storyline to the game, and all the stuff with Leon is just a side story.

Oh, and it's very generous with ammo, but not so much with healing items, which sucks because Ada can't take a hit worth a damn.

I felt completely the opposite.
The entire experience felt like "So Leon and Saddler and Krauser and that President's Daughter girl and Luis were all but pawns in a play in which I was the director, the lead actress, and the sole stockholder, manipulating these pawns, puppets, and actors all like marionettes at the other ends of strings tied to even more condescending metaphors. I really ending up coming away hating Ada a lot more than I did when she was just mysterious and hot. Here, her sneering reduction of the story mode's plot to a ridiculous, Metal Gear-esque sideshow is a poor substitute for an actual plot, but, then again, I expect nothing less from Resident Evil plots.

its pretty easy, you just need to know where the hard to see ones are at and move around to adjust, you can't stand in one spot like the previous places.

Yea I guess they're selling out fast. I had this preordered at GS and was just lazy to pick it up. Of course when I called today the preorder only holds games for the first 48 hours and right now they're out of stock. I just went ahead and used some Prize Rebel points and I already got an email saying they ordered it from Amazon. I still gotta go to GS to bitch and get my money back.

One shot with the normal rocket launcher and Salazar is dead. That was so much easier than killing him with out the rocket launcher

What is there to bitch about? You were the one that was too lazy to go pick it up. :D

You only put $5 down right? I always pay in full whenever I preorder, if they sold my copy that I paid in full then I would complain, but I don't think they do. Hell I don't even go to EB/GS anymore unless other places don't carry it, I don't like how they sell used stuff as new.

Salazar was cake, I didn't lose any health to him. Its pretty retarded how his *right hand* Verdugo is harder than him.

Hah yea I know but who doesn't like bitching at Gamestop? This reminds me of that Seinfeld episode where Jerry's car rental reservation didn't actually reserve the car.

So they didn't even call me to pick up the game on release and yes I did pay in full. I'm pretty sure they don't do preorders like they used to, or maybe they only really do it for big titles. I recall back in the day if you paid for it already, you just show up with your ID and they handed you your game with a receipt taped to it. The preorder should let me pick up the game at my leisure, the 48 hour thing is news to me.

Just did the gondala part. Wow, that was WAY easier than when I played in on the GC. Helped in two ways, having played the game I knew how to help myself before starting. But 2, the controls make adjusting for a moving target so perfect.

The controls at times might take some of the challenge out of certain sections, but it certainly doesn't take any of the fun out.

When I first read that, I thought it said "big titties."

Is there a way to not have 1/2" to 1" bars on your HDTV while playing the game? I've noticed this in Super Paper Mario too... but they're larger on re4.

I've changed my Wii settings to Widescreen & HDTV but there's no difference. Please tell me theres a way.

SPM has the same problem? Well, another reason I'm happy I didn't get that game yet.

Anyways, no, there is no way to fix the overscan. Some TVs has manual picture adjustments where you can just stretch it out so that the two bars are off the screen but chances are your TV doesn't have that feature.

Man, after not playing for a day, I made some huge progress today. I finished Ashley's part which was ridiculously much easier since I knew what to do. I finished the lava pit area with the fire breathing dragons. I think I have one more area before I head underground.

Well this is the first time I have ever played RE4, and I have to say it is amazing. I also own a 360 and PS3 and this game holds up to anything released on those systems, due just to the amazing gameplay.

Whew! It's not just me then.. :D

Goodness this game is great. Just got myself the Riot Gun and the semi-auto rifle. I think this is one of the few games that becomes more fun with repeat plays.

You need to beat Separate Ways to get the Chicago Typewriter in the main game, correct?

Thanks for replying - after reading through the latter parts of this thread I see others have the same issue... I'm going to mess with my TV today and report back. This "true widescan" claim is trash. It kinda annoyed me in Super Paper Mario... but it's too much to not notice in RE4

Is there a way to use the rifle without the scope when you already bought the scope? I don't want to sell it just to have to need it later.

i think u can just unequip it the same way u combined it, if that doesnt work you can always just sell the thing u dont want, and u would still keep the other part.

Just got into the castle. It's so much fun knowing what my trouble spots were and then just whiping through them because I know all their stupid little secret ambushes. I didn't think I'd remember as much as I do but I guess only having beat it in January on the GC and having spots where I would die 3-10 times, tends to burn those into your memory ;)

Anyone who has played this and is on the fence about the Wii version, get off the fence and go buy it.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who's in an rage over this 'true widescreen' crap.:D

I just finished getting the two cups for the king and queen statues and am about to head underground I think.

I think beating Assignment Ada unlocks the Typewriter. That's worth looking up, though.

And what's the appeal of the Riot Gun? I bought it on my first playthrough long ago and haven't touched it since. I just upgrade the regular shotgun a little more and hold out for the striker. Figure I'm saving cash that way.

The only thing I really splurge on when it comes to weapons is the rifles--I probably put a few upgrades too many into the bolt-action before I trade up for the semi-auto. Otherwise, if I'm starting from scratch, I stick to upgrading the Red9 and Shotgun/Striker and occasional upgrades to the found butterfly.

Any weapons specialists care to weigh in with your preferred attache case?

I was going to confirm that; Then I looked on the Gamefaq's FAQ for the Wii version, and I see that Assignment Ada unlocked it in the GC version. Apparently, Separate Ways now unlocks it in the main game, and Assignment Ada unlocks it in Separate Ways.

You're doing the best compromise of upgraded shotgun power early in the game and efficiency of money spent. To me, the Riot Gun is trash compared to the Striker.

Red9, Shotgun-->Striker, and the Broken Butterfly won my heart.

And uh ... yeah. Buy.com needs to be getting on shipping my RE4 Wii.

You know what... I never thought about that for some reason. I always figured the Riot Gun was better because it came later.:whistle2:k

I really regret selling the Punisher though, it was awesome knocking down like 3 baddies with one shot.:whistle2:(

The riot gun is a more focused blast. It's more effective at farther distances. Not rifle effective, but you're far more likely to get things farther off than you are with the regular shotgun. I've gotten it in my first two play-throughs thus far. It's a good one.

I always get the striker, it has more power, takes up less space and the exclusive owns. If I wanted far range i'd use the rifle or blacktail(i went with punisher on GC). I don't really care for longer range on shotguns because I just wait until hoards of mobs come near me anyways.

The Striker is definitely the shit... I think I used it more than any other weapon.

Man, I really can't wait to finish this game and go through it again with fully suped up weapons.

I finished up Seperate Ways earlier, and now I'm going through my second playthrough with Leon in the badass gangster outfit. I wish I hadn't blow all my cash during my my first playthrough because it carries over to your new game+, (as do all your items and weapons), and now I can't afford the Typewriter, so now I have to save up for it.

Hoyl crap. Just did the Garden section. That part freaked me out big time my first time through. This time it wasn't so bad, and I only died once instead of like 20 times, but sheesh. It's still mega creepy.

Man this blows, I'm almost at the end of the game and I found out that you can't get the PRL unless you beat the game in Pro. If I knew that before I would've just started the damn game on Pro instead since you can't beat it on normal and then use your items on Pro.
I found the garden to be one of the easiest bits. Those dogs were so... passive. Same goes for the first time you meet them (near that bridge, I think).
The whole atmosphere of the place on the first play-through was insane. Those things are freaking creepy, and the noises they make are even worse.

It's amazing though that the game still ends up being so tense even if you've already played it. But the first time jaw-dropping. Sadly, that can never be replicated...

I had trouble with the garden part the first time too but the second time wasn't too bad.

Resident Evil 4 is one of the few videogames I wish that I could experience for the first time again.
The whole atmosphere of the place on the first play-through was insane. Those things are freaking creepy, and the noises they make are even worse.
I agree, but not just for the first time. I've played the garden more than enough and I think it's creepy every damn time. It's raining zombie dogs, for fucksake. Even though I know about how many there are by now, there always seems to be one more dog than I thought. That last dog is spooky enough for me.

But then I'm a total survival/horror pussy. When I hear the chainsaw VROOOM in the background--I don't care how faint it is--I get out my biggest gun and look to put much distance between myself and a chainsaw corpse. To be honest, what motivates me to put the bad guys down in RE4 isn't survival. It's putting the kibosh on the creepy repetitive noises, be it the rev of a chainsaw, the moan of a crazy monk, or the pissin' and moanin' of a villager. I just want them all to shut the fuck up and leave me alone in the dark.

OMG yes. The Chainsaw (Dr. Salvador) not-zombies are the worst! The Wii edition was the first time I ever played RE4. When I first ventured into the village, I was surrounded by the not-zombies, picking them off one by one, even using my knife (I know!). Then out of nowhere, the chainsaw sound starts up and the next thing I know, I turn around to find Salvador in my face and my head on the ground. FTW!

The Belle Sisters are just as bad. I kept dying in that stupid pit and even climbing out didn't help much. So I just went back and took the other route with Sabado Gigante trying to stomp on me. I've read the FAQs and many say that I should just distract him long enough to get by him and through the level. But I didn't. I just kept wailing on him with bullets and fragging him. I know that the rock slide above would've helped but I didn't bother.

Don't run, it's easy to kill!

Just have a firepower-upgraded TMP (buy whatever firepower upgrades are available at that point) and a little over 100 rounds of ammo, and you can easily take that Gigante down before the first door. Bring down that first boulder to slow it down, shoot to down it, knife the parasite 8 times, shoot while it's getting up and down it again, knife 8 more times, dead. Takes less than two minutes, and make sure to shoot the head to make it go faster. :)

As people beat it, post your stats. I haven't beaten it yet, i'm getting to the statue (that's too ambigious to warrent spoiler tags) and i'm at about 9.5 hrs, and 80% hits, and 500 something kills, I'll get the exact stats when I beat it.

I'm apparently an idiot. I beat the hell out of Gigante then missed the fact there was a little path up the other side of the mountain so I turned around and fought through the Chainsaw not zombies. Honestly, taking on the not zombie town seemed to be the easier of the two ways simply because you don't have to deal with Ashley getting smushed. I got through it by hopping out of the pit and then just blasting everyone with the shotgun once they were roped into the straight path. It was pretty simple.

I always took both paths anyways, its fun taking on the Bella sisters and Gigante gives better $$$.

That's what I did on all but my first playthrough on the GC version, just to get all the extra pesetas and stuff.

I must suck...I'm at about 8 hours, and ~82%, and like 80 some kills as of last chapter end. I have had some idle time where i pause/go to inventory to do something else, so that's upping the numbers, but still..
* If I die then choose to continue, is that elapsed time included?
* Do I need to anything special to get the 'added content', or is it included in the story line, or for bonus endgame stuff, it'll be obvious how to access it?
Maybe it's just me, but I found the dogs to be the easiest enemies in the game. Every time I faced them, they just kinda... ran around. I don't know if they ever even hit me.
Those dogs are the strongest enemies in the game. When they jump on me they always, ALWAYS, leave me with 2 bars of health. It doesn't matter how big my health meter is they always drop me down to 2 bars in one hit. I just fought the first regenerator (I think) and he didn't take as much damage off me as those damn dogs.
