With mean the battle where
you have to do all those control gestures?
As far as I know, you can't avoid that battle...

Remember, never bring a gun to a knife fight. You can't kill him but save your ammo and just knife him a lot whenever you're fightning him.

Just a heads up, unlike every other Wii game I've played, the port of RE4 is just sloppy enough that if your batteries die on the Wiimote it doesn't pause the game. Play with som decently fresh batteries. ;)

I'm talking about the first time you REALLY fight him - where he is shooting at you with an Uzi. In the ruins.
I'm talking about the first time you REALLY fight him - where he is shooting at you with an Uzi. In the ruins.
Nope, you can't kill him until you pick up the 2nd medal thingy. Also, you can knife him to death thru that whole area.

Question:

I just reached the castle. Is it better to continue upgrading my weapons, or buy new ones (riot gun, semi-auto rifle, etc)

It's best to buy the new versions most of the time. The unupgraded new versions are usually equal to or more powerful than the upgraded older versions.

You also get more money when you go to sell if you have done upgrades, so it's not like your wasting the upgrade money that you spent.
Question:

The riot gun is debatable, but it gets more powerful than the regular shotgun does, and it'll be awhile before the 3rd shotgun type shows up. I normally get the riot gun.

I have a level 3 rifle and shotgun in firepower...so the riot gun and semi-auto should match this? Sweet.

You should buy the semi-auto rifle. Upgrade your shotty and then buy the striker when you can or just keep the shotty, I'd stay away from the riot gun unless you like the look of it.

True, but you're still losing half the money that you paid for the upgrade. I think I was able to max out 4 weapons on normal run.

Hmmmm ok, taking in all the advice, I'm going to dump the rifle, pick up the semi-auto and skip out on the riot gun for right now (I only really use the shot gun up close and personal anyway)

Thanks guys!

Just beat Separate Ways. Don't skip out on this, it's awesome. I never played the PS2 version before so I hadn't even seen it let alone played it. It was fairly short, but my stats were:

88% hit ratio, 292 enemies killed, I was killed 7 times, and cleared in 3:45.

I skipped the riot gun myself, but I did just get to the point where you can buy the striker, so I finally replaced the original shotgun with that.

Also, this game is great. It's just so much fun to blast through hordes of enemies. I died a couple times on that room with
2 of the blind guys with the huge claws
.... until I remembered I had just put a lot of upgrades into my TMP(I'm not sure why, because I barely ever use it). That took them both down in a hurry.

OVERTIME!!!!

Hit Ratio - 77%
Enemies Killed - 954
Times killed - 24
Time - 20.25

After hearing about overtime I LOL'd at the end of the game. Hey, at least she did the right thing.

Finished the game today along with the two side Ada modes. I clocked in just under 14 hours through the main game and probably another 3.5 for the Ada stuff. Used the maxed out handgun, shotgun and tmp. I want to play through the game again but I got other stuff to play (just got Quendan 2 today!).

I'm pretty far into the castle now (about 7 hours total playtime).

Loving every minute so far.

I upgraded my semi-auto rifle and riot gun pretty high.

I also picked up the blacktail pistol. That works well.

BTW, are the Ada missions supposed to be super hard because I started Seperate ways and spent half the first chapter running around with no ammo and no health?
BTW, are the Ada missions supposed to be super hard because I started Seperate ways and spent half the first chapter running around with no ammo and no health?
I found myself having to be a tad more selective with my kills in SW vs the main game.
Do bottlecaps go through to your second playthrough?
And can you acess all shooting ranges at the first one?
yes

no, though i am unsure about second time through shooting ranges

Yes, the Ada Missions are unlocked only after beating the main game for a reason! They expect you to know how to not suck. Plus, Ada's a girl, so naturally, she cannot handle adversity, and as a result, the game is tougher.

That's right, I went there.

Also, buying the Riot Gun is usually a mistake. The money saved by just holding the Shotgun until you get the Striker is massive.
Also, buying the Riot Gun is usually a mistake. Not like too little money is ever really a concern.

That said, sell the RG immediately and get the striker when you can. And then upgrade that thing. Striker exclusive =

What bugs me is that in the main gain the whole town is after Leon in the first chapter, but when you play as Ada they're all after you! WTF?

And unless the Ada missions were designed for you to run away I don't see how they expect you to kill 6 zombies at a time, that for some reason are now harder to kill, with little more than 10 handgun bullets, a knife and an egg.

And I did feel like I wasted my money on the RG. It didn't do a whole lot more than the regular shotgun that was already upgraded. I would save my money.

doesnt she also come with a shotty?

My shotgun ammo ran out in 2 seconds and I haven't gotten anymore. And knifing for a kill is good one-on-one, but try that when you are surrounded by 2 or 3 zombies and game over.

Anyways I had to knife them because I had no ammo. What gets me is that as soon as they are close enough to knife they hit you because you swing your knife so damn slow. I wonder if running around behind them to knife them works?
RG firepower is not worth the cash lost in the upgrade.

Scrub: Headshot, kick, knifeknifeknifeknifeknifeknifeknife.
Wait, Ada has a knife? I don't remember her having a knife...:whistle2:k

Anyways, I'm at Salazar now... I didn't fight him yet but messing around, I learned that as you guys said, he's a pushover.
RG firepower is not worth the cash lost in the upgrade.
What do you need cash for? I had all my weapons fully upgraded by the end of the game and was still left with about $280,000. Never once was I in a money crunch. Buying the treasure maps are invaluable! :)

You save cash if you plan on playing a 2nd round.

Seperate Ways was pretty easy to me and I never came close to running out of ammo. The only hard part about it is Ada seems to get hurt more than Leon.

And yeah Vinny, she has a knife in Ada Assignment(i don't think GC had knife) and Seperate Ways.

My friend showed me a good trick to saving ammo. Simply:

(1) Shoot them in the knee once with the pistol.
(2) Run over to them while they're on the ground.
(3) Stab 5 times (it will take them at least 5 stabs worth of time to get up).
(4) Repeat on the next poor sucker.

In situations where there are a lot of enemies on you at once, then you can:

(1) Break out the shotgun,
(2) Break out the 'nades, or
(2) Stun one with a shot, run over and kick it.

When you kick one enemy, everyone around him/her gets kicked as well so it will clear up the area pretty well.
You save cash if you plan on playing a 2nd round.
I still was able to get the CT by the 2nd merchant in my 2nd playthrough. Not sure what the big deal with saving money in the game is. ;)

Beat the game a second time today, a run through using mostly only the CT. It was like cake except at the very end for some reason. Chapter 5-4 gave me way more trouble than it did even my first time playing the game in January on the Cube. I think the CT gives one a superman complex that is not easily done away with to resume carefully killing everyone in an area lest someone sneak up behind you. That, and I think the difficulty was a notch higher because I was running through the game like mad without dying. ;)

In the end, a second run through was 4:30, 7 deaths, with like a 27% accuracy. Gotta love that rapid, random fire! ;)

Just wait til you get the Handcannon. Took me two shots to kill El Gigante and The village Chief.
Ada packs a knife in SW only, I think.
She has the knife in both on the Wii.
No, you don't get to keep anything on pro unless its your 2nd round of pro mode. The only thing you can get are the costume changes.
Beating Seperate Ways is a good idea so you can get the third Costume, Ashley is like unkillable with that knight armor and it makes Pro easier when she's around.
Sorry my mistake.
I was tired when I wrote that....anyways

I playing seperate ways right now.

I forgot though, in the Mercenaries game, I need all the character to get 5 stars in every level right?

So each character has to have 5 stars in every level.

For Handcannon? Yeah, 5 stars, which are 60k. I'm on chapter 5 now in pro mode, afterwards i'll do the mercs.

Ok, I've got sort of a dilema here.

I just beat Salazar and... I have way too much ammo. My inventory is full so I need to get rid of something.

Should I...
a. Sell my rocket launcher- I can't remember any other boss on whom I can use it on and it would open up a lot of space
b. Sell some grenades- I love grenades for those sticky situations
c. Sell some ammo/health items (like 2x 1st aid sprays, 2x shotgun, 1x rifle)

IMO, you should've used the rocket launcher on Verdugo but since you haven't, you can save it for
U3
. If not just sell it.

I don't use grenades much, I only keep 1 of each.

I just got this in the mail today. Graphics aren't as impressive as before but the controls more than make up for it. Out of habit I kept pointing the cursor to the edge of the screen to rotate. Also I don't get the problem of the widescreen not filling up, but I have a HD CRT so that might be it.

Lmao, playing this game makes me think the church of england=saddler, if you know what I mean.

Yeah, I but then I bought one after that thinking that Salazar was hard. I never fought him when I played through the PS2/GC versions. Damn, what a waste.

Oh well, sold that and don't regret doing it. I just picked up the Killer 7 and stopped... and I can't remember what I do next so it'll be a nice surprise when I next play.

I just beat Seperate ways and wow...

I surprised myself.

I beat Krauser (spelling?) and Saddler with my knife!

I had no bullets left and my hands were sweating.....but man the new suit and th chicago typewriter is sweet.

Krauser (Final Form) is terminally weak against the knife. Seriously, it takes a stupidly few number of slashes to end him with the knife.
does ada's costume change at all with either of the alt costume settings?
If I remember right, the first set puts her in a military/police uniform (Is it a S.T.A.R.S. uniform like Leon's? I can't recall...), and the second set keeps her in the red dress.

I find it odd that the second set does not work in the cutscenes, but considering Leon has no visible knife AND it was designed for the FMV-cutscene PS2 version, its not really surprising.
