Resident Evil 5 -Gen. Discussion - Lost In Nightmares & Desperate Esacpe DLC Out Now!
That is definitely more than 11.
Maybe it's only one of the squads. I think there is a detailed file on the BSAA that you can unlock in the Files section, but I'm not sure.
Yeah that's why I asked the question because I've read all the files to date (there's 6 remaining after I completed 4-1.) It talks about how "the 11" are looked at like the 9 Mercury astronauts as the center of one of the biggest monumental groups in the history of the world. In Chris' file, it says that he and Jill are two of the founding members. I'm assuming Leon is the third, so that leaves the other 8.

From reading Sheva's file it seems the BSAA was long established with the multiple regions/squads by the time she joins Josh and the rest of Alpha/Delta team.

I do wonder who the "mysterious man in the suit with no tie and works for the US Government" who informs Sheva of the rebels intention of turning Umbrella's weapons against her native country's government and adopts her is?
I'm through 3-2 and I think the game is great ! I don't know why the media outlets aren't exicted about the game.
I guess it's cause they did not re-invent the wheel like they did with 4, I'm loving the game though.

Any good strategies For Mercenaries Mode, Thinking of just dropping the hand gun at the start with Chris, cause I only use the Shotgun and don't seem to run out of ammo. and any overhead or info on were all the time bonuses are.
Question about treasures.... Are their any you can combine to make more expensive ones like in RE4?
No.

To me, the game was great if it didn't have the Resident Evil name. No zombies, not many dark places, lack of horror, ect. The boss fights also don't hold a candle to anything in 4. There's just something about the atmosphere I couldn't get used too in this game.

That said, the graphics were awesome. I liked the game, just not as much as I thought I would.
To me, the game was great if it didn't have the Resident Evil name.
I completely agree. And I wouldn't have a problem with it if that didn't mean no more RE4-type games.

Honesty I feel that this game is a bigger departure from the series than RE4 was. The atmosphere is gone.

I started my first playthrough on veteran and man am I getting my ass kicked. I'm only on 2-2 and lost most of my ammo to those damn dogs/hyenas that now that I'm in the cave I have nothing left to fight with.

I do miss the old world feel as well. Wish they would do some remakes for the high powered systems like 360 or PS3. Dark Chronicles is another Wii title unfortunately.

Omg.

Cheeeesefest Plot/Acting. Lmao.

"Chris your the only one who can! [save the world]" - Jill Chapter 5-3 end.

Almost finished the game.

The one thing about the plot that is retarded is that we were told this was going to close an arch in the story. When all it really did was open up another one with this whole BSAA organization.

The only thing that came to a close was...
Wesker when you blasted his ass into that lava.

Other than that the story seemed to move too fast and was lacking events that could help parts of the story marinate. Irving and Excella should have served as more than just catalysts for Ouroboros. I feel like they could have made irving or excella responsible for the death of Sheva's folks. Something to give some spice to the story, but instead they might as well have just made them two mindless Majini that were injected by the shadowy Jill.

I hated that Jill played sucha large part in this game's advertising and in Chris' motivation to complete the mission but you save her and then BAM! you don't see her again until the very end when you escape. Like wtf?

Over all the plot, and everything about it was extremely subpar.

I cannot remember the last time that Capcom did a good job telling a story. Look at those laughable anime attempts during SF IV. The story always seems to be an after thought.

So I take it you can still get achievements even with infinite ammo? Interesting. Of course my wife wanted to play on Normal which I'm kind of regretting. Probably would have been better off going the higher difficulty making the game longer, and only having to beat the hardest mode on one replay. Now I gota do two replays.

^ There's a higher difficulty called Professional which you get after all the levels are completed on Veteran. Good luck having the wife to do those with ya.

I gotta say I love playing this game on co-op.

I got this game on Friday using the Gamestop deal to get it for $20 and I'm glad I did. Now I've never beaten a RE game, but I'm really digging this one since it has co-op. So far I've played through chapter 3 twice with a different friend each time and I'm having so much fun that it doesn't bother me.

My only issue so far is that the game randomly freezes on me. I had to restart my Xbox 3 times before it'd let my friend and I actually play co-op. And today when I was playing it again the game froze right after we beat the boss of 3-3 so I got disconnected and didn't get credit for beating the chapter while my friend did. Then we decided to replay that part with me as host and it froze again during the load screen, but this time my friend got disconnected and again I didn't get credit for beating the chapter. All of these instances are starting to get to me. Is co-op glitchy?

The only glitches I've suffered from aside from a
gatling gun wielding infected
getting stuck behind a cargo door is the game freezing during the loading screen while the RE time line remains unaffected. I've had to re-do a chapter because of the latter though due to its scarcity the ride has been fairly smooth for me.

Read my blog about the playthrough on this game.
I played through the entire game with my wife as co-op and our game froze only after a replay through on veteran, but I think the Xbox 360 was too hot. It had been on for more than 12 hours straight. But if you have space on your HD, you should just install the game to the HD.

For those of you who are thinking to get this game, just rent it. 5 days or however long your local rental place has, it's enough to play through the game on any mode, including veteran.

However, it's way more fun playing veteran with unlimited ammo. We were trying veteran at first (my wife and I) and we got our asses handed to us because frankly too many zombies in areas and not enough ammo or even good enough weapons. A few places all we could do was use our knives. Bad.....

But this is the first RE game I've ever gone through in a single weekend. Once you play through the game, try putting on the retro or classic video filter. Black and White is tough as rabbit shit when playing in that mode.

Btw, anyone like that clubbin' costume that you can get with Sheva after you complete the game? Looks pretty funny but my wife loves her hair style.

I'm playing through on Veteran now after finishing the game on normal. I got the SIG P226 fully upgraded and with infinite ammo. Even though its just a handgun (that packs a pretty big punch), It makes the game a lot easier.

I would just like to say I called the major plot point 2-3 months in advance when Capcom released the TGS trailer.

Beat it this morning, last battle can be a pain. Have unlimited ammo for the starting handgun and MP5 now.

I am just starting Chapter 3 on Normal right now. None of my friends have this game so I have just been playing SP for now. I am surprised how much I am enjoying it. I really disliked the demo and tried to cancel my pre-order from Amazon but it was too late to cancel. Now I am kind of glad I had to get it, I like it a lot so far, even in Single Player. I am going to try to get thru as much of the game as possible in SP, if it eventually gets too hard I might ask a fellow CAG to help me finish it off.

The only reason I am skeptical about playing co-op at this point is I know everyone has already gotten further than me. The last thing I want is to play thru the game with someone who has already beaten everything, its not near as fun if one person knows everything that's going to happen in advance.

I went through it with a friend and I'm really disappointed in RE5. The story is SO generic and these gimick boss fights are seriously ridiculous. Seriously, it feels like they were running out of ideas for bosses. At some parts they blatantly ripped off RE4! The plot twists were so predictable, and am I the only person who wonders how Wesker gained a full English accent after the original (not remake) RE?

To me the hardest monsters were those giant insects. They're damn near indestructable. It took us 30 tries and we gave up for the night. Then I upgraded my magnum and blasted the thing once and it went down for good.

RE4 is to RE5 as Gears of War 1 is to GoW2. They made it bigger better and more bad ass without thinking about anything else. I still loved the game, but it isn't anything special. I will definitely play through it at least one more time. The biggest factor in that is the great way they implemented the coop.

The story in the last four chapters is ridiculous. At least I got a chuckle out of the cheesy dialogue and combination rocket/jet that couldn't possibly carry enough fuel and somehow morphs into a normal jet between scenes.

Well my friend and I have been playing co-op together and it's quite fun. Though we're now stuck on the boss at 5-3 so we need some help. We did it a couple of times but couldn't beat her.
We fought Jill Valentine two or three times. Killed her once and she killed us twice. We spent a good 30-45 minutes fighting her each time, except when we killed her. We both tried to pull the jewel off of her more than a dozen times each but in the end she eventually killed us. Is that what you have to do? If so how many times does it take to pull it off, it's really annoying that we spent so much time doing it for nothing.
So, any tips would be appreciated.

Keep pulling. There is no secret, it's just retarded.

Actually, how my friend and did it was....um, I'll try to be vague since I don't know how to use the spoiler thing.

You have to wear the boss out by running up to them and pressing the X button ( when given the oportunity) , I think to either throw to toss them, then have Chris get on top and remove.

You have to be careful though because 3 flash granades OR 3 electrical rounds WILL kill the boss. So only use two if all else fails.

All of you guys made it harder than it has to be.

While one of the characters is holding her, have the other character shoot her in the chest piece (the device). After 5 shots, it'll come right off. Just make sure to aim carefully.

i have to say... after playing the demo, I was not excited for this game at all. The only reason I picked it up on friday was because of the Toy's R us deal. However, after chapter 1 I was totally hooked. I've played through the first three chapters multiple times co-op with my friends, and it's great. I'm only up to chapter 4-1 so far, but I'm loving it. Can't wait to play through the rest.

Oh, I figured out how to do the spoiler thing!

The reason why I didn't shoot her was because I had a maxed out shotgun and magnum, and my friend only had a sniper rifle. I didn't trust my aim when she was coming toward me. But I might have tried shooting it off, if not for blowing a hole through her chest by accident during the hide and seek game with Wesker.

Last boss fight spoiler:

I think the final times you fight Wesker are plain ridiculous, especially with the missle thing. Oh and does anyone know what's the point of pulling those levers during the fight with Wesker? All they do is turn out the lights. We beat him but found no point in turning out those spotlights...

Good for you

The game is awesome, it is getting confusing playing on 360 and PS3. The aim is L1 for the PS3 and when I want to pull my knife out I accidently shoot barrels. Other than that I can not see a huge difference between the two. Even with the install on the PS3, the load times are about the same.

I've shot accidentally shot vases and barrels too! I hate that. Or having to run up to a guy, stop, take out my knife only to realize I need to, put my knife back take another step forward, then knife him! grrrrr

It's easier to shoot him in the dark.

Does anyone know the answer to this - I'll be much more inclined to play through on a higher difficulty if you can use infinite ammo...

Yes you can.

Been a pretty good game so far, I had to restart it all over again. It was weird, I let it save and then when I turned it on yesterday, It just made me create a whole new save. So one day later and Im one step closer to saving the world
