Resident Evil 5 -Gen. Discussion - Lost In Nightmares & Desperate Esacpe DLC Out Now!
I'm missing ten treasures. I've played the game three times and I can honestly say I have no idea where to find them...
There's a list at GameFAQs.

^ I actually found I really nice video guide that I've started using. It's so much easier when you can actually see it.

A little confused by the stockpile achievement. Is it true that on top of all the guns/grenades + proximity bomb, you have to have all boxes of ammo, too?

No.

I liked better Resident Evil 4's Treasure system.

Where you could hold onto teasures and Combine them with other Jewels and create a more expensive item.
past story question.. maybe i missed a game..

when did that whole wesker, jill, and chris fight take place where jill goes MIA?
It was between games (unless I too missed something big).

I don't know if it was pre or post RE4.

It didnt in any of the games, it was just a story scene

It was definitely post-RE4

don't you remember the part in the game were shes saves Chris and falls out the window ? that when it happened, nothing to do with any other RE game.

That was his question, whether the flashback in RE5 happens in RE1-4, Outbreak, Code Veronica, etc.

I just beat it and i barely upgraded any weapons i was always broke, by the end those dudes that actually had guns were taking quite a few bullets. Overall I loved the game, a bit on the easy side with the exception of the last 3 levels

The flashback happened after Resident Evil 4. It basically never took place in any of the games, and was created as back story for Resident Evil 5. Here is the breakdown of the time line

2003 - Chris/Jill infiltrate a Umbrella Headquarters in Russia, and destroyed the T.A.L.O.S. project. This event was playable in Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles for the Wii.

2004 - Resident Evil 4 takes place

2005 - Events of CGI Film Resident Evil Degeneration takes place

Late 2006 - Chris and Jill receive a tip about the Umbrella founder Ozwell Spencer (old guy in wheel chair from RE5) being alive.
They arrive to find him dead, and Wesker there
. This is when the flashback took place.
Jill and Wesker fall out the window, and Jill's body was never found, and pronounced dead.

2009 - Resident Evil 5 takes place
so where does Code Veronica take place or RE 3.?
Code Veronica takes place after RE2 while RE3 storyline sandwiches RE2. (Takes place moments before and after RE2)

I just want the $5 Versus DLC already!!!!

spent $10 on lunch today and the Pizza was terrible I was wishing for DLC instead.

No more eating out for me. Buy stuff make my own food.
looks like it yes http://playstation.joystiq.com/2009/03/27/resident-evil-5-gets-new-trophies-in-v1-02-patch/
Cool. Thanks for the link.
I wish they would have made Chris' flashback a prequel chapter. Would have helped put their relationship and vendetta against Wesker into context.
Considering there were 3 different versions of Resident Evil 4 (GC, PS2, & Wii), which added bonus content (Separate Ways, etc.), adding something similar doesn't seem entirely out of the question.

I'm through Chapter 2-1 right now (I'm playing on Easy since I'm by myself) and I'm still looking for a partner (I can only play tonight and tomorrow as I've got plans for a few days after that) so I'm hoping to get through it kind of quick.

The game is sort of good, but it's not without its' problems like the Inventory Management (9 spaces, no pausing while in SP) and Sheva's constant dumbass tendencies (by running into me I go faster, missing a pickup). I also don't understand why they stripped out some of the cool features of RE4 (combining Herbs to raise your Health Bar (Maybe you can, I just haven't figured out how), jewel combining, etc.) but overall, it's good. I died once because I didn't know what to do, but still...good.

You can combine green and red herbs. Highlight the herb and select Combine. Another way (a faster one) is to highlight 1 herb, press X, then drop it onto another herb. That technique works well if you don't want to sit through a reload animation, too. Just pick up the ammo box, press X and dump it onto the weapon.
I've done that a few times, but like I said it doesn't seem to raise my Health any.
It doesnt, the health bar starts out maxed and the reserve bar only comes into play once you fall into the "dying" segments. The Green/Red mix only refills health, fortunately, it refills both Chris and Sheeva if there are close.
So then...what's the point of having Red Herbs then? And can this "reserve bar" increase?
Once again, your overall health is set from the start. A green bar that shows up as a 3/4 circle and a black 1/4 that turns red if you start to die and is accompanied, by dying animations that your partner has to save you from.

Green herbs heal a little health. Green + Red refills your health completely. The Green+Red combo refilling all health has been standard since the earlies RE games.

Edit: This is covered in detail in the manual and I believe its covered during in game tutorials...

Managed to get through the
Wesker + Jill
fight and the
Jill
fight on Professional with only 14 deaths, about two of which were my fault. The remaining 12 were due to Sheva being a fucking idiot.

I don't know what happened, but I got really lucky during the first fight.
Wesker
was shooting at Sheva, and I shot him twice (once in the shoulder, once in the head) and the fight just....ended...

Only four achievements left now.

I was under the impression that the Jill+Wesker fight was a timed fight.

If you deal enough damage to Wesker, the fight ends prematurely. Thought it would take more than two shots on professional, though.

I just shot Wesker with a rocket, then shot it with my magnum after he caught it. That ended the fight right away.
Still, there was no reason to take them out. Grandmas aren't going to play this game.
I guess they took them out because this game is butt-ass easy and gets easier the longer you play it, since you can unlock unlimited ammo without much trouble.

You have to beat the game to get unlimited ammo, though. And I just completed 5-3, and I'm pretty much scraping the bottom of the barrel in terms of how much ammo I have :(

Just started playing this a while back and am really glad there's a scarcity of ammo in the game. Too many survival horror games in recent times have been made easy with the amount of ammo scattered around.

I'm still running into that annoying problem of Headshot =/= OHKO. Anyways, I beat it, by myself, on Amateur. Seriously though, that final boss can fuck right off. What were they thinking?
There's this boulder here they want me to push so I can jump across. Okay. Wait, I can't push it in time, DEATH. I push it over after 3 attempts. WTF!? I can't jump across, DEATH.
And after I do that
I get to the final part, try it twice, die, then go screw it, buy a Rocket Launcher, weak point, shot, OHKO. This fight was so annoying and a bad way to end the game.
.

Just redo any chapter you want to get more money and ammo. 3-1 is particularly good for this, and 4-1 works very well too. You don't even have to complete the chapter - just pause, quit, and save everything whenever you've collected what you came for.

I agree that the final boss is annoying - if you don't know exactly what to do. He's easy with a rocket launcher, after you've gone through the proper steps to get both characters on the island in the center. But the part where you fight him before getting in the plane is uber-obnoxious no matter what.

Which ones? I have quite a few to go right now (16), but quite a few of them include beating it on Difficulty X, Unlockables (BSAA medals too) and quite a few Treasures.

I got all 1000 yesterday. I could have done it faster if I'd started on Veteran, but instead I did Normal first, then Amateur, then Veteran, and finally Professional. I beat about half of Pro in single-player, so it's certainly possible, though harder than in multiplayer.

What's the best weapon to put on infinite ammo first? I assume it's some sort of Magnum. Once I get that I'm pretty sure I can get S rankings on every Mission (In Amateur, at least).

I put it on the S&W Magnum first. Some people don't like the recoil, but I don't mind it. The Rocket Launcher is nice too, though. Bosses usually go down in one hit, even in Professional. If you can get both of them, you'll be golden.

Well, the 5 hour thing is the trick then, isn't it? I've got to cut my time down by 3 hours, so it's not too bad. I can skip the cutscenes, use whatever gun I have (like the Gatling Gun :)) to make it go faster. That gun definitely hurts my chances of S ranking Chapters, though.
Any Magnum > Gatling Gun.
Yeah, don't use the Gatling Gun. It's really not hard to beat it in under five hours on amateur. You pretty much just run past everything.

I prefer the L. Hawk when it comes to magnums, but the damage rating on the S&W is insane.

I think my shortest run is just over 4 hours on Veteran where I would just run through everything but still pick up all the treasure.
