Resistance 2 - Out Now - Get your co-op on!
if anyone would like to play co op as an actual team add me plz. My psn name is genfuyung
Added you.

If anyone else wants to play on co-op, add my PSN: RYAend.

I just played coop for the first time in *any* game. It's great. Add me and we'll play some time. I'm still getting the feel of the game so I'm not terribly good yet but it's coop so it's fun. :)

So is this game going to have split screen coop? It seems that all the original press stated it would but recent things have only been saying online coop.

Well, you can login a second profile, but not a second PSN account unfortunately. That functionality isn't in the current firmware.

Supposedly if worked thursday, but yesterday problems started coming up.

I made one game and one game only. Skirmish with me on one team and 7 on the other. Sucked.

Kinda a longshot but if anyone has an extra beta code PLEASE may I have it? My 360 died yesterday so i'm quickly in shooter withdraw and would love to check out the beta. If I preordered today I wonder how long till GS would have me a code?
Just go in and they should have a bunch to give out.
OH sweet they have physical beta codes? The website leads you to believe they are emailed and that's how they handled the CoD5 beta so I just assumed...

Thanks and i'm calling now. :D

EDIT: Frisky is a genious, they were like yes we got what you need come see us haha.

Online or in the store? In store, you get a code right away and then you sign up through resistance.net. Online, I've got no idea.

Well, it's a code you enter on the website which generates a PSN code that you use to get the beta.

Played through a full co-op mission with some good teammates, which was great. Though there was a good stretch where none of the spec-ops would give me ammo, but otherwise it was great.

I just played through a co-op mission and it was lots of fun. Much better and loads more fun than the Competitive Matches I played last night. The first game today, all eight people had mics, and we worked well together. The second round, there were only two mics and the soldiers would not use their shields. This gets very frustrating when playing a Medic.
Cool. Thanks.

I do have to say that I like the menu music a lot.
No problem. I like the way that everything is just so easy. You can join any friends party at anytime through the triangle menu, the party always stays together etc. It just seems to be really easy. But yeah I didn't enjoy the Competitive parts much, although I haven't gotten into a 60person Skirmish yet....

Which objectives you get, what order you get them, and the paths to those objectives are randomized. Also the creatures you face are randomized, but not the whole level.

The level itself is static except for changes in pathways between objectives.

I see, that makes a lot of sense. I was a little down on the idea of randomized levels since the design would be compromised so I'm glad to hear that that won't be the case.

My in store reserve guy said that I just needed to tell him my email and I'd get the code in 2 days or less...

How does the Form Party feature work with this game? I thought I was inviting SmogItUp into a game, but all I got was a screen that said Form Party and showed the two of us - but not anyone else from the co-op game I was in. I must be doing something wrong.
BTW, no sure if this has been mentioned but I just shared my beta with another CAG and we just played together, so it's doable!
Really? That's cool.

I tried sharing a code with a friend earlier and it didn't work, but I never thought of trying to gameshare.
 Fox just gave up on the Dallas game because it's become non-competitive, so the Giants game is on now.
Yeah, I agree. The game feels more balanced than R1 weapon-wise and especially between chimera and human now. :D

i wish r2 had a kill cam like cod4. then you know where and how they killed you.

recommendations on guns?

But if you gameshare wouldnt the account have to be being used to play the game? How can 2 people be signed into the same account at once?

Generally with gamesharing you just need to sign into the other account to start the download then you can use the game on any account on your system.

Would be awesome if that works. If I get a code from the my resistance site I'll try it out if it's still not confirmed either way by then.

I love using the splicer in MP. It's not a particularly strong weapon, but it has some nice perks. I like opening with a revved up blade and nailing someone with it then finishing him off with 1-2 normal blade shots. Even if he isn't killed right away, so long as a land 1-3 more blade shots on him the revved up blade stick inside him will finish him off. If you rev up the blade you can also use it like a chainsaw.

The Air fuel grenades which you get with the splicer and fareye, despite what some say, are actually very useful. They're slow to activate, but they have a kind of area denial effect. No one wants to walk through an air fuel cloud, also the radius of effect seems big. It also seems to flow somewhat realistically in that if you toss it in a hallway the fuel cloud will expand farther down the hallway instead of the same radius. Lastly anyone caught in the blast, if they aren't killed are set on fire which can distract them, especially since to put yourself out faster you have to shake your controller, throwing off your aim.
I also like how it's not as twitch based, less like quake than R1 was.
Good to hear. Now I'm a little more interested in the online.

Never really cared for R1 online.

Keep in mind, it's still fast paced action, and there's still more tweaking to be done. But if you get the drop on an opponent, you'll almost always kill him if you're a decent shot. It's not like Quake and R1 where he spins around moving at mach 1 and nails you with some super weapon he picked up in the middle of the map. The time it takes to kill someone, depending on weapon and situation, seems to be about double that of CoD4, and as you know everyone still dies quickly out in the open.

It's all a lot more balanced now that you choose your main weapon, which then gives you your secondary weapon and grenade type. As above, I use the Splicer, which also gives me the magnum and air-fuel grenades. This makes the weapon balance and power highly situational, which you can control with good tactics.

Also, grenades seem to be not much of a problem, which is a good thing. Everyone spawns with only one grenade, making it valuable and you can only get more grenades by killing someone with the right grenade type in their inventory, and even then you only get 2 max. The grenades aren't massive killers either, but they have a very definite effect and will still kill in one hit if your enemy does get out of the way. The air fuel being the most deadly since its explosive radius has no drop off, if you're in the cloud, you almost always die, but the thing takes forever to detonate and it's not hard to miss the white cloud of explosive vapor.

The maps, wow, the maps are great. They're huge, but since the objective system sends people to fight over certain things it works. Well, the objective AI needs tweaking as it'll spaz out sometimes, but it works. Each map usually has plenty of different terrains and situations. It also gives the feeling of a bigger battle as, while going to a different objective, you can come across other squads fufilling other objectives that you can try and help out.

Oh, and co-op is amazing, but could also use more tweaking as some objectives are insanely difficult and some boss enemies have glitches or take forever to kill.

Co-op is amazing indeed. I tried out all 3 classes and they are all fun to play and unique. I managed to level up my Special Ops guy to a couple thousand points till level 4.

The objectives were pretty straightforward and easily handled with some competent teammates (which luckily I had) as you really can't fail the mission as long as one person manages to stay alive.

The boss fights were great. That EGM article stating that these encounters had a certain World of Warcraft "tank and spank" style boss fights were right on the money.

I can't wait to get this game when it releases. The beta essentially catapulted Resistance 2 to my top 3 anticipated games of this holiday season.

The only issue I had with Co-op is that with one of the objectives being to activate some switches at the saw mill that when we'd get to one of the switches a group of Chimerans would spawn right on top of us. We prevailed, but still, that was annoying and cheap. Loved the big bosses and their weird, alien designs, like the big, sweaty, nude, zombie/alien or the big Chimeran with a thong on.
