Rewarding Achievements - Confirmed!

There was news in the other thread that it would go up sometime between 3-5pm pacific. We're just now in that timeframe.

Edit- Whoa...
Is Cars easy? How many hours?
it's an easy game, but it's a real chore actually playing the game with the "sandbox" world that it tries to pull...

took me about 6 hours to get all achievements except 2...one was a fetch-quest that i did not want to take time to do and the other is a stupid tractor-tipping minigame which has a horrible camera that makes the minigame stupid as shit...

other than that, everything else is easy but tedious...on the bright side, the cutscenes and character designs makes me want to borrow my little cousin's Cars DVD to see the movie :) i really like DJ, Wingo, Boost, and Snot Rod (the Ricer team + 1 muscle car haha)..I LOL'd when i saw the cutscene where the street ricers talked to Lightning mcqueen

haha yea I thought it was me and I thought maybe it was Firefox so I grabbed the link and opened the page with IE but yea still timed out. I don't even care that much so I'll wait an hour.

Well I just got to the part where you input your information and agree to their "terms and conditions," but after I hit submit registration.."you suck at life, please hit refresh to try again." Maybe this will prompt MS to change how they handle events like this next time.

Just a reminder, I think your hotmail account has to be tied to your gamertag for this to work; right?

You think that was bad, I got the message step 2: cut a hole in a box
2,500 copies of Fusion Frenzy 2 and 2,500 T-shirts, well that'll be gone by tonight then.
Wow, I'm so glad I didn't bust my ass to get to 10k by today.
70'000 Contra, 6'000 100 Marketplace points, 2'500 200 pts cards.
What the hell? I can understand limited quantities of Fuzion Frenzy 2, but how can they "run out" of downloadable Contras and marketplace points? This whole contest is a clusterfuck so far, nobody can register, and the prizes are all going to go to nerds who rented King Kong and Madden 06 just to get 1500 points in one day.
I was actually sort of looking forward to this contest, I was going to go through my back catalog of unfinished games and scratch out 30 points here, 20 points there etc over the next month or so, but doesn't seem like much point now (I know, there wasn't much point in the first place, but still)

Much like the PS3 thing, no matter what plan you have set up, somebody else wants it more. There's at least 2,500 people at home with NBA 2K6 and Madden 06, waiting for sign ups to start so they can be the first ones to get the 1500.

So who has actually gotten through? I got to the login screen, and then it timed out. Now I can't even get that far. This is ridiculous.
I wear Old Spice deodorant and body wash all the time...
Ditto. That stuff rocks. They just can't seem to shake that 'old man' stigma.

As for the contest, they could have easily regulated it better excluding certain titles.

Not to mention all the gamerscore whores have already gone through the 2k6 titles and all the other easy ones. So all is not lost.
I'm still trying to figure out why Old Spice is sponsoring this...would anyone under 50 consider using it?
I wanna smell just like Bruce Campbell.

Yeah, and if that's 70k split among the 3 levels of rewards, fucking forget about it.
buncha crybabies... jesus
Usually I'd agree but they made a big deal about this and made a lot of people go out and start upping their gamerscore in anticipation of making the 10k level. Now that we know its a total of 2500 fucking copies, its pretty obvious that not everyone is gonna be able to get this. They might as well have just made it a regular contest giveaway at this point and saved everyone the trouble of busting their ass to up their gamerscore. If it was a plain old contest no one would have room to complain but the fact that you had to (and still have to) put in a decent amount of work means they should have been a little more up front about the "giveaway" to begin with.

What's absolutely ridiculous is that the downloadable content is limited, that's just twisting the knife. I mean give me a freaking break, I can understand about the other being limited but to limit downloadable content is absolutely ridiculous.

Wait, I just realized the points are limited too!

What the fuck?!?! I can understand a little bit about Contra because of whatever agreement they have with Konami but to limit the fucking marketplace points? fuck you Microshaft, fuck you.
Still can't register.
I can't even look at a picture of the advertisement t-shirt.

Haha, the gamerpic is the old spice logo, yeah I see that one getting used a lot

What a debacle.

Well, I thought it was worth trying for, but there's no chance I'm going to get 1500 anytime soon.

It's possible for me in the three months or whatever, but damn, I'm not going to bust my balls for a game of Contra that's sure to be gone within the next week or so.

And I still can't get anywhere on their page.

Calm down guys. At least Microsoft is doing something. Besides, it's their first run (more like a test run) with a promotion like this. I'm sure things will get better...eventually.

That's what I was going to do. Fgured it would be a good way to get some replay from the games I hadn't played in a while and a prize or two! Eh, it's no big deal but I was hoping to get something other than an Old Spice pic that I can wear "like a badge on my sleeve."

I totally agree!!

This is precisely why they should have launched during the day when everyone was at work rather than put it up during the most popular internet-using time of the day.
