Last night I got a "We're Working On It" email from them. The wording in some spots makes me nervous, but I'm assuming this is just normal for them and I can expect to get my stuff? At first the email makes it sound like I'm out of luck, but later on they give the impression that it's just a matter of time and everything will go on as planned. I guess the only disc they have on hand is the Paranoia Agent vol. 4 I ordered, and they're just waiting on everything else?
I got two of these e-mails stating such and such and my order shipped in the next day or two. Also the e-mail isn't even accurate, just check your order status in Where's My Stuf!? on the main page it will tell you what is/are holding up the order.

It took several days for my second order to show up on the website. Sent them an email and they responded that because of the overload of orders it was taking them a bit longer to update the site. Shows up for me now.

Looks like my order's being held up by all volumes of Ultra Maniac and volumes 2, 3, and 4 of Licensed by Royalty being on order from manufacturer.

Went to town to check my mail today got pulled over by a state trooper just a warning. The good news I got my first order today and I placed one last one for 10 dvds.
My last order is Appleseed,Fushigi Yugi 7 & 8, Tenchi Muyo OVA 1-4 the two movies and the Pretty Sammy OVA. I swear this is my last order the prices are just to good. 10dvds>2dvds

Lucky you.

I got pulled over early this week and didn't get a warning. Totally my fault for not paying attention to what I was doing. My first ever pull over or ticket and I had 90 miles to drive home to think about it. Man that sucked. I am diligent about seatbelts and watching my speed so I was really mad at myself. At least my anime was waiting for me though so I ttried to keep my mind on that instead of beating myself up for an honest mistake.

The trooper said that since it is my first ticket the judge will probably be lenient.

Still waiting on my backorders, but I was thinking abou putting in another order. Does anyone recommend the Heat guy J set? I already have a lot of the otehr titles, but this one looked like it might be interesting. Any info would help :). Also, how are Stellvia and Fafner? Running out of options here, but I thought Id ask so I could cash in one more time on this deal . Thanks!

I would pass on Jubei-chan 1. Only saw the last disk...but it was so horrible. I couldn't watch it in dub or sub. It was just so stupid. There was nothing "humorous" about it; it was just bad.

Apparently Jubei-chan 2 is much better, so...we'll see.

I enjoyed Heat Guy J. Don't expect a story until the last few episodes. It's just a bunch of stand-alone episodes about a special forces cop and his android partner. I can't say anything bad about it. The vol 1 artbox on sale comes with a bonus DVD too (although it only holds the first 3 DVDS).

Second order did arrive today. I had several boxes in this one (ROD, Cpt. Herlock, Heat Guy J & Burn-Up Scramble). Out of them all, the ROD box is my favorite (and well worth the trouble to get it). Some nice extras too - ROD figurine, Burn-Up Scramble magnets, another ROD pencil board, Heat Guy J bonus dvd (which made me feel better about re-buying vol 1 to get it ;) ).

Now I'm just waiting on one more shipment. :)

EDIT: I'll take a pic once everything has arrived - in the meantime, here's my haul from last year's sale:

but see...cowboy bebop did the SAME thing with the whole stand-alone-episode thing...and look at the raving reviews it has gotten (of course, it's one of my favs as well) Heat Guy J gets my recommendation for the character development, the music, the animation, and most of the storyline...the only thing i didn't like was the ending...though most anime endings are pretty odd anywayz o_O

Anyone have any idea how long it usually takes to for them to get OOS DVDs? The 3rd and 5th DVDs for Last Exile are sold out and I want them to complete the series, but I don't want to wait too long and risk something else getting sold out.

I wouldn't pass on it. The show is funny, has some good action scenes and very endearing characters. I mean you did only see the last DVD. I can't see myself judging a series when I've only jumped in on the last 3-4 episodes.

I'd reccomend the 'pass' myself- I've seen (and currently own) season one, and I didn't care for it. I suppose I can see how some people would enjoy it... but it's mostly the same 4 or 5 gags repeated over and over. And I HATE Jubei!! Hate-hate-hate-hate-hate!!! Who in the WORLD offers the bad guy the object o' desire without a fuss- repeatedly?! Who keeps whing that they don't wanna use their power when someone is trying to kill their friends?! For god's sake, girl, quit complaning and put on the damn eyepatch already!!!!!*pant pant pant*

Sorry... I get a little worked up. Anyway, I can't really reccomend the show. Unless you like Shinji-types.

Well my Order Status is now up.Every dvd on my list is backordered, which i find strange since almost every title I'm buying they had over 100 copies of each. Unless this is just because there are somany orders. Most likely the later of the 2.

Ah well, I will be ahappy man when I see that package come in the mail.

:)

If I had more cash I'd buy some more.

Hopefully a simuiar Funimation or Bandai sale comes. Or another ADV sale would be just as nice.

With a sale like this, anything on the site that says SOLD OUT is a crap shoot. it may come back, it may not.

Heh. :)

Pretty much all my knowledge of Yagyu Jubei comes from the Samurai Shodown game. It was a while before I realized the game character was based off of a real figure. I gotta admit, when I saw the trailer for Jubei Chan I thought the heart eyepatch was cute though.

Plus, I dig the whole female sword fighter theme. I'm still glad you recommended Tsukikage Ran. One of my favorite shows.

The counter indicates how many they can get or are allocated not neccisarily the stock on hand.
You really don't know? It's Evangelion of course.
I really didn't know. I tried to watch it when it was on AdultSwim but I honestly couldn't get into Eva. I may have seen one episode. I know that isn't a fair way to judge a show though.

Good one, isn't it?;)

I guess, Jubei-chan really hinges on how you handle Jubei herself. If you can handle the main character spending the entire length of the show rejecting the role she's been given, regardless of whatever evil will happen as a result, you might give it a go. But she drove me insane.

Okay, as someone who hates Evangelion with a passion I feel I must interject something here.

Shinji: Doesn't want to pilot his goofy mech because he's a pussy.

Jubei: Doesn't want to sword fight because she doesn't give a shit.

Jubei-chan is a great show. The second season (the one on sale here) is a much more action packed show then the first. The first show is a about 80% comedy/20% action. This show is about 60% action/40% comedy. Both shows are super badass as far as I'm concerned. It's one of the five best shows in this sale.

Shinji: Doesn't want to pilot his goofy mech because he's a pussy.
I'm not going to get into an Eva debate here, not the place. I will make one comment though and leave it at that.

A lot of people bring this point up, and I honestly don't understand it. Most grown men wouldn't be able to do what Shinji does in that series, yet we're supposed to be surprised that a 14 year old kid has problems risking his life and enduring extreme mental stress for a father that cares nothing for him? I mean if you don't like the type of character Shinji is, that's fine. But I think saying he's a pussy is absolutely ridiculous.

I currently have:

1. Armitage III: Dual Matrix DVD (Special Edition)
2. Black Heaven, Legend of DVD 2 (Hyb): Space Truckin'
3. Black Heaven, Legend of DVD 3 (Hyb): All Right Now
4. Fighting Spirit (Hajime No Ippo) DVD 1 (Hyb): The First Step
5. Fighting Spirit (Hajime No Ippo) DVD 2 (Hyb): The Debut Match
6. Fighting Spirit (Hajime No Ippo) DVD 3 (Hyb): Test of Endurance
7. Gungrave DVD 1 (Hyb): Beyond the Grave
8. Gungrave DVD 2 (Hyb): The Sweeper
9. Gungrave DVD 3 (Hyb): Undead War
10. Gungrave DVD 4 (Hyb): Die Trying
11. Gungrave DVD 5 (Hyb): The Protector
12. Lupin the 3rd Movie: Secret of Mamo DVD (Hyb)
13. Onmyoji II DVD (Hyb) LiveAction
14. Onmyoji: The Yin Yang Master DVD (Hyb) LiveAction Regular Edition
15. Paranoia Agent DVD 1 (Hyb): Enter Lil' Slugger
16. Paranoia Agent DVD 2 (Hyb): True Believers
17. Patlabor Movie 3: WXIII DVD (Hyb) Special Edition (3 discs)

In my cart. It's limited by things that are sold out (the other Black Heavens, Hajime no Ippo v4, Paranoia Agent v3). I need to either cut it down to ten or raise it to twenty-five. Suggestions? If I cut it down to ten, I'd turn it into...

1. Black Heaven, Legend of DVD 2 (Hyb): Space Truckin'
2. Black Heaven, Legend of DVD 3 (Hyb): All Right Now
3. Fighting Spirit (Hajime No Ippo) DVD 1 (Hyb): The First Step

7. Gungrave DVD 2 (Hyb): The Sweeper
8. Gungrave DVD 3 (Hyb): Undead War
9. Paranoia Agent DVD 1 (Hyb): Enter Lil' Slugger

That's exactly how I feel. How would you feel if you were in his shoes? Probably about the same.

GuilewasNK, I wasn't impressed with EVA when I saw some episodes on Adult Swim either, but I bought it because of all the hype. Now it's probably my favorite series, except the ending, which is garbage.

I think saying he's a pussy is perfectly accurate considering what an incredibly low concentration of getter rays he has around him. Rather then engage in Eva debate that has happened a million times before, I've spoilered my thoughts on what I dislike about Shinji and Evangelion as a whole below.

The thing that bothers me so much about Shinji is that he is not something to idealize and so many otaku look up to Shinji and identify with him. He upsets me simply because he's a spineless little twit that is pushed around the entire show, and then proceeds to be given the power to fuck everything up which he can't even make that decision decisively. He's a character that should be punished by the end of the show because of all of the misery that he's caused.

I had hope for the End of Evangelion. Anno proceeds to put the audience in the role of Shinji with the whole first person shot after he finishes jerking off on Asuka in a coma and says something along the lines of "I'm a sicko" (or one of thirty other ways this scene has been translated). However, after that, Anno decides to let the audience engage in their ultimate fantasy of punishing everyone via Shinji and kill the entire world. What pisses me off even more is that Anno let's Shinji say "oops" and fix everything. It's the ultimate cop out with no consequences for Shinji and the audience (through Shinji). The only punishment that anyone faces for identifying with Shinji is that they're forced to buy shitty Evangelion dating games for the next 15 years.

Personally I thought the series was mediocre. It was a fun little super robot show that ended up taking itself way too seriously and thinking it's a lot smarter then it actually is. The movies, however, were simply insulting. It's like yelling at your six year old for shooting a bee bee gun into his best friend's eye blinding him, but then taking him to Six Flags afterwards. Evangelion pissed me off, pure and simple (not to mention the fact that it spawned about a billion similar other super robot shows that vary in ineptitude which is a whole different debate).

If you like Evangelion, I don't like it. That's pretty much all that says in there if you're curious.

You saw EoE completely differently than me. Which is interesting.

That's the problem with being on the Internet when the fansub community switched from tapes to digital distribution. The amount of "I want to marry Rei even though she's a cartoon" sentiment that permeated anime boards was truly upsetting.

Edit: No offense intended.

That's the thing. I've always known where your user name comes from. It's just up until three seconds ago, I didn't realize that I was talking to the guy with the Eva inspired user name. Square peg, round hole moment.

Agreed 100%. I'm really surprised to see people hating on Jubei-chan. There are definitely some overrated comedies that deserve our disdain, like Excel Saga, Puni Puni Poemi, and (I realize I'm in the minority on this one) FLCL, but Jubei-chan is not one of them.

Also, you forgot my favorite part of both shows - the drama. Oh my god, I *love* the interaction between Jubei and her father - it's amazingly well-scripted, and there've been a few moments that almost reduced me to tears throughout the two shows.

Very true (except FLCL :p). Especially on the Excel Saga. The show is funny for like the first 2-3 episodes but it gave me a massive headache after that.

And the relationship with the father was excellent. Especially when Jubei gets sick in the first series.

Finally made my order today. 1-6 of Read or Die, and 1-4 of Haibane Renmei. I looked it up and it sounded like something I'd enjoy. Plus, I keep buying all these teenage/mature anime series so it's good to buy something a little more friendly.

It looks like all the 25 items in my order have finally been "reserved for my order". Hopefully it will ship soon. It's a long wait considering I placed the order on 6/4.

Same here. I put my order in on the 4th too. I finally noticed that the 3 things that were holding my order changed their status on Saturday or Sunday.

Gah...if I'd have known that Akira would be holding up my orders...I wouldn't of bought it for ...the third time!

I have two orders left to ship, and the only thing that isn't reserved is the Akira Deluxe DVD. I would hope they would both ship as soon as it comes in!

Akira is on order for my shipment too. Rightstuf say it will come in today or the 20th!

Anyone got an extra Fighting Spirit Vol 11 or 14 for trade/sale??

Where can i get the collector's box for Chobits?

I can't find it anywhere! Sometimes on ebay but it is the whole set.

Any help appreciated!

^^I've been looking for the Chobits box for a long time. It's amazing how hard to find it is.

That said, is anyone looking to sell any of their boxes, not just from this sale but any?

The only spare I've got is the crappy orange box that came with My-Hime vol. 1.
