How much was Princess Tutu during that ADV sale?

I'm going to put Kirin's zealous pushing to the test and netflix as a keeper evaluation before committing.
I'm just happy you're checking it out! But be sure to at least watch through the second disc for the plot to begin in full.

Doesn't the good stuff not really start until disc 4 when the real dark stuff kicks in? Sorry, not the good stuff, but the REALLY good stuff (the whole show is good stuff) Oh, Kirin, what's your take on I's/I's Pure, I really like the guy's stuff (like DNA squared, and Video girl Ai), have you watched I's, and what did you think? Btw, this question is also directed at anyone else who has seen it. Also, yes Knight hunters (or weiss kreuss) is fucking terrible, but the outtakes are fucking hilarious, but you can say that about almost any anime dubbed by Media Blasters, or Anime works, same damn company (the hilarious outtakes not that it's terrible). Also see Berserk, Rurouni Kenshin, and Magic Users Club for hilarious outtakes, although the shows themselves are great shows (except Magic Users Club, which I do think is a funny series, but most people do not like). Elf Princess Raine is just a hilarious dub, and anime in general. Oh, yeah if you ever get Rurouni kenshin, the general consensus is to not watch the show in english (the dub is kinda bad, but I could put up with it), but if you must DO NOT LISTEN TO THE FIRST OPENING SONG IN ENGLISH. Link to the badness http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIcvHSUCiAs

Thankfully, after a while they stopped dubbing that opening, and never dubbed any of the other openings. If they had ever dubbed 1/2 I probably would have had to go kill someone, especially if it was sung by that girl, who, btw, also did the dub opening of Magic Knight Rayearth (or if its not her, it sounds like a DEAD RINGER for her).

Elf Princess Raine is a show I saw the trailer for often early on in my fandom, but never bought becuase the trailer was overly weird ("so there's a bunch of red-haired girls and lil' flying girls getting their skirts flipped up", or so I thought at the time.) I picked it up a few months ago based on a glowing review, and ended up adoring it. I've yet to watch the dub, but I loved that the fellow speaking in total nonsense was subtitled with backwards text telling you how awesome other Media Blasters releases are, followed by an apology to the translator for messing up his subs. (I also now understand why that Right Now AMV subtitled the guy doing the chicken dance with 'right now is dumber than it looks'. It really was.;))

I didn't like I''s, probably because I never read the manga that the OVAs were based on. I think it's one of those things you'd only enjoy if you were already a fan, but for everyone else it's rather boring and poorly-plotted.

Jeez... Everything I ordered from the Viz sale except the "All Colour But Black" Bleach art-book is "on order from manufacturer". Barring the "few days to several weeks" description on the site, how long does it usually take for Right Stuf to get an item in when it's "on order from manufacturer"?
A couple weeks. Unless you place your order early in the sale, you're guaranteed to end up waiting.
There's really no window- a few days to a few months, depending on the product.

I can tell you 3 things:
1) You won't get billed for anything that hasn't shipped.
2) In the unlikely event TRSI can't get the item anymore, they won't tell you, so check your order every so often for a 'cancelled'. I've only had it happen 3 times in several years (and the 3rd was in error and quickly fixed when I asked.)
3) You'll keep your purchase price, no matter how long it takes to fill. I've known people to order things that went on 'undefinite haitus', come into production years later, and get their order no problem. I doubt you'll have such an issue, just sayin'.

Hey now, I actually like the English dub of Kenshin. I think the main characters' English voices fit and are performed well. Oh, and the English dub of the opening isn't bad; it sounds just like the Japanese version, but performed in English.

We get it, you like horrible things. Enough already. :p

What in the world are you talking about? The dub opening is sung by a girl who can't carry a tune even if you gave her a dump truck to put it in. The japanese lady CAN sing but she's warbling, if you listen to the full version it sounds a lot better, and you can tell better that she really can sing, not like the English singer. (sorry, yes this is mostly opinion, but the english opening really is GOD AWFUL, oh yeah and just to emphasize my point I'm going to link to the magic knight rayearth English opening).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbkaQb1Wv2M (AGH MAKE IT STOP)

and to be more cruel here's the second opening http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYU7mz_apwU

You know, both openings are in the first video you linked.

I've never heard a truly, truly horrible english OP. Not saying the ones brought up so far are good, mind you... but compared to some insert songs, they're downright MP3 worthy.

Edit: How the heck do I just post a Youtube link, anyway? It won't play embedded, but I don't know how to make it show without the video window.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LO_akKiQZVc

I couldn't find this song on its on, so you get the shrill, sqeaky dub too! Your torture starts about 2:30, the song starts at 4:19. Be very afraid.

Tempting. I've been wanting to finish Parasyte (Parasite) for ages. I read the story up until Mixxzine pulled it...

Good price on Season 1 Volume 1, but the others can be found new for $15 or less shipped off Amazon Marketplace.

Every time someone brings these up (as was done in the Big Lots DVD thread) I get the urge to buy them myself. Must resist...

I popped off an order early yesterday for Zetsubo sensei 4-6 and my fiance's Negima 23-25 and Samurai Deeper Kyo 35/36... "It's OK that the Weekly Specials aren't up", I thought. "It's not like they'll actually put up one of those Honey and Clover DVD sets you want so much but couldn't get during the Viz sale becuase it didn't include DVDs."

Then I got my Weekly Special email.
"..."
Y'know, sometimes, Rightstuf annoys me. Ah well- at least it gave me a good excuse to buy Saiunkoku too... along with a big, gaping hole in my wallet.

If it hasn't shipped out yet, call them. There's no reason they wouldn't be able to change your order.

Nah- I actually had both series on my to-buy list, I got free shipping on both orders, and I have more than enough money to cover it... I'll just be in a very bad place if they have a Bandai sale next week. (But they shouldn't, so, I think I'm good. :D)

Grr... I just saw that Witchblade is coming to Bluray. I should have just waited since I didn't get it for that big of a sale. Though it's listed for $72. Man, that's expensive.

Ah! My Goddess Season 1 (Litebox - aka foldout case) on sale for $26... Tempted...

But I want the big one! to match the second season set that I have already. waaah... Yeah, not going to happen unless I pay out my a** for it. I might just pull the trigger anyway...

Will most likely watch the final Princess Tutu disc today. It's been an OK story, but it hasn't been compelling enough for me to marathon. I kind of wish I shared your enthusiasm to like it more.

Drosselmeyer is a sadistic bastard. I like Mr. Cat and his ongoing gag.

---

Curtains closed. Drosselmeyer is indeed an ass. The final chapters were crazy frenetic and ended appropriately. Princess Tutu felt like a stage performance. I can appreciate the artistry, but it didn't resonate enough with me. Mytho bugged me up to the very last seconds he appeared.

I just put in an order for some more stuff. Hmm, I really need another bookshelf; this one is overflowing with DVDs now.

 • Claymore DVD 1 + Artbox
 • Claymore DVD 2
 • Claymore DVD 3
 • Claymore DVD 4
 • Claymore DVD 5
 • Claymore DVD 6
 • Ghost Hunt Part 1
 • Ghost Hunt Part 2
 • My Otome Zwei Special Edition

Most of my books from the Viz sale are en route. Two of the books are still "on order", so it was surprising to see that they sent out most of the order without me asking them to. Very nice touch. It really makes me happy to order from them when they do stuf like that.

And to whom it may be of interest to, Right Stuff got some Sailor Moon DVDs in. There are only two copies left of one of them, so if you want, you better jump quick.

Yeah, they ship out things periodically if things are on backorder. IIRC, they'll make a shipment when half of the remainig order is in-stock, or every 45 days.

Just purchased 3 K-Drama box sets on the flower4 sale.

A Prince's First Love
My Lovely Sam-Soon
Palace

all for around $128 shipped after 35% off and 10% Got Anime.

Made another purchase today...

Ranma 1/2 OVA set - $29.99
Ghost Hunt Season 1 Part 1 - $14.99
Ghost Hunt Season 1 Part 2 - $14.99

this site rapes my wallet on a weekly basis

Tell me about it- I am actually to the point where many of my impulse purchases are put off until I see the newest TRSI sale, just to see if I can afford whatever-it-is after the almost inevitable purchase.

Luckily for me this week, I'm not interested in any adult manga, and there aren't any other studios they do 3-day sales on I need things from to get in the way before next payday. A reprieve!

This week's sale is 40% off MSRP on Bandai DVDs, 33% off on Bandai books. Nothing really caught my eye, but there's a LOT to choose from, and it seems like there'd be some good prices if you've bought their Got Anime thingy.. Remember that it's a coupon code, so you have to calculate the 60% of retail price yourself, instead of using the displayed price (unless it's already on clearance, in which case it's probably already lower than 60% of retail).
My next order will probably be Claymore Vol 1-6 and Ghost Hunt Parts 1&2, but it's so expensive
oh quit bitching! You think everything is expensive.

Just got You're Under Arrest Season 2, Volume 1 and Dragonball: Season 2 for $53.98. I thought about the Death Note box sets, but I really need to save the $$$ for the holiday season.

That's not how it works- clearanced (aka bargain bin) items aren't eligible for coupon discounts. The 40% comes off of the MSRP, not TRSI's slightly lower everday price, and the 10% Got Anime discount comes off the marked-down price, not the original MSRP.

All told, it's 46% off DVDs and about 40% books/misc. with the coupon. For newer releases and pre-orders, it's all but impossible to do much better than that.

I picked up Code Geass R2 parts 2 and 3 (LE version), Hayate the Combat Butler parts 3 and 4, and some Code Geass manga (Suzaku part 2 and the 4 Nunally books.) I also completely sapped my set-aside TRSI money to do so. Ah well- I get paid today, and from here on out most of my orders should be dinky lil' manga updates... as long as I get a little put away for the Deep Discount sale that should be coming up soon-ish, I'm good.

:nottalking: That's the same thing I said (but your explanation was much clearer). You have to figure out the discounts for all the Bandai items except the bargain bin. Those items already show the correct prices since the coupon doesn't apply.

I don't know if it's a glitch or not, but I was looking through the site for cheap anime and saw the Viridian Collection box set of Speed Grapher for $6. I'd so get it if I didn't have it already...

Speed Grapher is not worth $6. In fact, if somebody offered to *pay* me $6 to take their copy of Speed Grapher, assuming I couldn't just throw it away afterwards, I'd still turn them down. That shit is ten hours of my life that I'll never get back.

I ordered both the Death Note boxsets at $24.99 each from them. Great price for great series.

I already own all of Witchblade and i'd probably be tempted to double dip and get it on Bluray but just not sure. Yes it will look a little better but then its harder to take it and show it to friends unless they have a player, etc.... So will probably just keep dvd version.

I can't find this. Did it get fixed?
I can't find this. Did it get fixed?
Yeah, it's fixed now. I think they had mistaken it for one of the single discs.

They Were 11 was a fun sci fi story about ten space cadets on an isolated training mission. Except there are eleven cadets there...

For $5.99 it's worth it. It's also one of the earliest shoujo stories if I remember correctly.

This was a great film. First I saw it was in high school. hell I think I had it on Laser Disc. lol

As for the TRSI deals, I am trying NOT to look at them right now. Too many deals and sales before Black Friday are attacking my wallet. My Korean dramas just shipped and that was a 100+ order. Found out a week later that yesasia.com had those same K-Dramas cheaper in a sale, plus a $5 off coupon... GRR lol

Indeed it was, and indeed it is fun. I'd reccomend it to just about anyone.
