Played it a bit tonight at BB... the presentation makes GH looks like shovel ware. The guitar works fine for me, but my roommate didnt like it nearly as much. The drums fucking rocked. Now to go sell some plasma and pray to the "Oh, we have one still in stock right over here" gods

Looking at the sales numbers for GH III, I'd guess not even close. You don't have a next-gen system? It seems like a lot of $$$ to spend on a PS2 game when the next gen versions will hive so much DL content available.

Indeed most do, and I stopped by my local Best Buy this evening to play a couple songs. It was a bit interesting though... I started up the drums and couldn't figure out why I couldn't build up a multiplier. Not too far into the song, an icon pops up in the middle of the screen with a small kick pedal animation... turns out they loaded in the full retail version of the game!

I tooled around a bit in the other menus and whatnot, but didn't get to explore too much. The drums didn't go too far with missing all the kick drum notes, and the guitar had somehow gotten unplugged so I never got to try that out.

You're joking, right? In order for someone who doesn't have a next gen console to buy (and play) a next gen version, they also have to buy the next gen console, which triples the cost. Moreover, if they don't have an HDTV, then they aren't going to fully benefit from a next gen console version of the game anyway, so that's another, and even bigger, expense. Mind you, I agree that $160 is a lot to pay for a single game (for any console), but paying, say, $470 (or perhaps $1470) in order to play a game is even more ludicrous.

Um, you know its not like you're only going to be using the next gen console and the HDTV to play Rock Band.

I just got Prime last week and decided to update my shipping to 1-Day for my Rock Band preorder and it now says it won't ship till till the 27th, a whole week later than what it originally said (20th, with super saver)...wtf?

You bring up good points.....I have a Wii, but no 360 or Ps3. I initially was going to buy a 360, but the first game I'd want to buy would be Rock Band. So....$350+$170= $520 plus tax. Or, I could just my Ps2 a little while longer and just spend $150. Sure, I'll miss downloadable content, and playing online...but I've never been into that stuff before.

I guess I'm willing to wait a little bit longer until the 360 and Ps3 prices drop some even if it means I'll miss out for now.
 
Weird.. I ordered 7/23, got the free shipping, and no change to the order (and still has an 11/26 ship date). Hopefully the ball gets moving soon...

The weekly ads thread says Target will have it at 8am. If you're willing to be there when it opens, you should have a pretty good shot at getting it I would think.

I picked one up on Tuesday. My local store had a total of 8 XBOX 360 Special Bundles, so I bought 2.
 
Just found out that Amazon needs my approval for a change in the order...and now, it sucks that they are shipping my order a week after. Oh well.

If I didn't cancel my preorder in the first place (back in July/August for $200), I would probably get it earlier.

Yep, my 7/23 PS3 super-saver order went into Shipping Soon overnight. Yay! :) Now to keep my fingers crossed for a Pre-Thanksgiving (or at least BF) delivery!
 
It seems the Ground orders are all going into effect now. I ordered Sept 28th. Overnight. Nothing yet...

A little off topic VH1 Classics is doing entire shows promoting Rock Band around the clock today.

Amazon is staggering so things arrive at/around the same time around street date. So if you have an overnight order, don't expect it to ship until at least the 19th.

You can get a tracking number as soon as Amazon sends the billing info to UPS- it doesn't necessarily mean that they have touched the package yet.
 
Mine is also at Shipping Soon.

Ordered July 23rd (7/23) with Free Super Saver Shipping. I really hope that mine is sent from their Bell, CA location which is only ~30 miles from me and I usually get things the next day. Hopefully it ships out on Monday via UPS for me so that I'll get it by the Thanksgiving weekend.
 
Mine now says shipping soon. I ordered 8/6. It had a 12/1 shipment date under the estimate, but that was because I tried playing with the shipping options last week. Before that it said 11/26 as my estimated arrival date.
 
I just screwed myself. I had a ship date of 20th and arrival date of the 23rd I figured I would go with 1-day shipping since I was really anticipating it but it was still the 23rd! I changed it back and now it's the 26th! After my four-day weekend! Ugh!
 
Anyone ever delt with overnight shipping with Amazon?

What time does the package usually arrive?

I know its earlier than normal, but my train leaves at 1pm!
