I had never heard of Coheed and Cambria before Rockband, but Welcome Home is probably my favorite song in the game. I'll definitely be buying the "progressive" pack.
Please kill yourself for liking Oasis.
Dude, seriously, my Metal Orthodoxy e-penis has already proven its length and girth. If anyone is gonna be telling anyone else to kill themselves, it's gonna be me.

My wallet is at the mercy of Harmonix if they keep putting out more Rush songs. Working man is going to be boss on the guitar.

I LOVE Welcome Home. I'm another one who had never heard of them prior to Rock Band, but I have a blast with them.

I don't see why all the hating on Oasis. Yes, Liam is a prick...yes, their music for the last 10 years has been dreadful...but all 3 tracks in that pack are from what many (including me and most of Britain) consider to be 2 of the best Rock albums ever made. Wonderwall is a solid track, although I personally think it's kind of a weak choice for this game. Live Forever and Don't Look Back in Anger are phenomenal, though, and PERFECT for Rock Band. I'll be buying the pack immediately. I actually submitted an Oasis Pack on the Rock Band site a few months ago that included those 2 tracks (plus Morning Glory). Doubt it made a difference, but who knows :)

Unfortunately your e-penis shriveled up and wilted when the words 'i like Oasis' passed your lips.
Good luck with the e-viagra....try listening to some Death.

a cover of coheed? really, they need to do a cover? anyhow... i'll buy wonderwall, maybe rush. oh, who am i kidding i'll probably end up buying them all anyway.

obligatory: where's bad company?

I gave the Oasis tracks a quick listen. I'll retract my horrible statement and say the songs are decent but I still think they'll be horrible for RB. They just don't seem like they'll have fun note charts and are more for those who would like to sing their hearts out (literally).

I'm surprised a lot of people haven't heard of Coheed and Cambria. The songs are easily recognized by the awesome guitar and annoying voice  Don't get me wrong, I have all their albums and I guess I'm a big fan but after awhile the lead singers voice just gets to you.

Not my first choice for a Pumpkins song, but it's better than nothing.

Yes, because I've never heard of Death. Thank you, oh exalted one, for name-dropping this obviously underground band that most of the metal scene has clearly never heard of. I know I don't own any of their albums at all, nor do I know the lead singer and principal songwriter's day of death (OMG PUN) by heart. THANK YOU. ;)

And yes, I am aware of the overwhelming irony.

Wow. I'll definitely get the Oasis pack and the SP song. I'd be interested in Rush if it wasn't a cover - what's the deal with them? No masters in the vault?

+1

Oasis blows, every song sounds the same.

Just like nickelback.

Decent songs though.. Wish they woulda added some of the newer Smashing Pumpkins songs though -_-V

Haha, I've always thought "damn the guitar and the music is good but the damn vocals are annoying."

I'll pick up Wonderwall because that will be one of those songs my friends will like to play when they come over (ie: songs they know from the 90s).

Yeah I've met Chuck too (RIP). Of course I didn't think you hadn't heard of them LOL.
That doesn't reduce the healing power for your e-weewee.

On topic, Death in Rock Band would be fucking amazing.

I just got Rock Band for 360 but haven't opened it yet cause my 360 is broken. Just wondering, are the wires a huge problem for anybody? Just wondering if It's worth returning and getting the wireless version in March or so.
And yes, I am aware of the overwhelming irony.
That's a relief.

Oasis, huh? Well, they sure are trying to stay away from pigeonholing themselves as similar to "Hesher Hero," but that's going to come with some successes and failures.

With 3 songs almost every week (have we missed one yet?), I can't be angry that I don't see any purchases for three weeks. I consider it a vacation for my wallet.

I'm in the minority, but, super-yay for Oasis and another SP track! I had considered requesting a few Oasis tracks but didn't think they'd fit, but wahey, there they are.

Two replies so far for the 2nd OXM train, once we get another couple I'll work out the details with everyone.

I actually have no problem with songs coming out I don't like, I'm just annoyed
because it's 3 from the same band which is all the DLC for that week. I would rather
they stagger the releases. Then again it is hard to complain with new DLC every week....

Yeah, not a huge oasis fan myself, but I can't believe how many people are saying how horrible they are, definitely passable top 40 radio rock IMO (much better than current top 40 rock like nickelback/etc)...
I'll pick up these songs because most of my friends will actually know them, somehow most of them know like a grand total of like 2 of the songs in the game (yes, that probably means i need new friends).

My buddy and I were just talking about how much we want Oasis songs on Rock Band. You guys made my night. Thanks! Sorry some of you don't agree about them being included but wanted to let you all know there are those of us sitting at home waiting for bands like this to be available.
Wow. I'll definitely get the Oasis pack and the SP song. I'd be interested in Rush if it wasn't a cover - what's the deal with them? No masters in the vault?
I read elsewhere that IGN has the Rush song listed as the original track, so it might not be a cover after all.

I bought the OXM magazine and I can't get my system to read the disc. There are no scratches at all on the thing. Is this a common experience?
Yeah, you get the medium and easy achievements.
I did it! I finished Rock Band on Hard last night and I got all three achievements at once. I really only got "stuck" in the last tier (it's the only tier where I failed a song) so I'm thinking Expert is a real possibility for me now. I went through the first tier pretty easily. I want to start the drum or vocal tour this weekend.

I noticed that I had a new shirt in my wardrobe last night that said "Death Dish" and had a picture of an evil slice of pizza on it. I didn't know where it came from and realized that it's probably from when I cleared Chicago with a friend.

Besides getting more nerd points I have an actual exciting reason to clear everything city of World Tour now. Wasn't sure if anybody else was aware of this, just thought I'd share.

I'd expect IGN to make a mistake over Xbox.com, especially with the history with Rush songs always being covers. The Coheed one though, I'd be surprised if that's a cover; it's from the same album as Welcome Home.

Well, I cracked my pedal again. =) 3rd time? Gonna try that woodrock pedal thing too.

I now hate Don't Fear the Reaper on Expert Drums just as much as Green Grass and High Tides on Expert Guitar. It makes me wanna yell at that developer at Harmonix that thought putting in hyperspeed was a bad idea.

Wish they'd put that new Coheed & Cambria song up "Running Free." I guess I don't really understand why there aren't more new release-type songs available. Seems like a no brainer for everyone involved. Releasing them gets extra pub for the new album, plus gives Harmonix more songs to make available. Win-win.

Personally I'd like to play Tarantula by SP more than Siva, but that's just me.
I need to join one of those OXM trains, let me know what I should do to join up.
PM jezebelseven.
Got my copy of OXM tonight and will be happy to start up another train if anyone's interested, and it'd be great if people wanted to chip in to cover costs.

Anyone interested, feel free to PM me. :)
Rock Band's expert is like the step between Guitar Hero's Hard and Expert. I got to the last tier of songs in Rock Band on expert but those solos are epic. But I went back and played some songs on expert in Guitar Hero 3 and I can 4 and 5 star them no problem, where I couldn't do this before.

Except much, much easier, of course.

I agree, but personally new tracks from an artist used for promoting an album should be free. It would be a killer marketing tool for the record company. Or they could do a cheap bundle with a couple of other tracks with the new one thrown in as a bonus.

The possibilities are endless here - I am shocked that artists AND record companies aren't all over this already making everything they can think of available as DLC.

Some labels/artists are probably being too greedy and are wanting too much money.
Some labels/artists are probably being too greedy and are wanting too much money.
I guarantee they are. The record industry is spiraling downward and out of seemingly nowhere these music games get HUGE and are basically begging the record companies to print money but I can just picture them all thinking $2/song isn't enough... so instead they won't make anything.
"Hesher Hero,"
Jesus fucking Christ, again with this "hesher" bullshit. I hope they release the "Hesher Pack" with Emperor, Darkthrone, and Mayhem. And none of the songs are from their albums, just demos that sound like they were recorded in a cave during a blizzard.
