Damn. I have snapped my drum pads. Is this the way they break for other people?

It's not as visible, but the yellow and red pads are broken as well.

They still work, but I suppose I'll try to initiate a return. Maybe I'll try to mod the new set with some padding...

This is really in case anyone comes searching through this thread like I have over the past week or so looking for information on Microphones.

I would consider myself a fairly good singer. I'm not a rock singer, so my voice sounds funny with the music, but I'm spot on pitch wise. I've been following this thread since January so I knew that the various headsets work with this game. I figured that I'd be a Cheap Ass and just buy the game used. I have two wireless guitars and my wife really didn't want the drums in the house.

I started out using the wireless headset on Medium. After getting kicked off the stage a few times I decided to back down to Easy. I was able to get through songs, but never with more than 3 stars. I was seriously reconsidering my singing ability. Am I really that bad? I did note that the arrow that represents your pitch would come and go at odd times. It seemed to pick up sound but not pitch at times.

After a couple days I broke out the wired Microsoft headset. On easy I was able to five star some songs, but ones that jumped low to high and or had a lot of quick phrases were impossible for me to get above 3 stars. I found if I started singing phrases early that helped in general.

Today I finally spent a gift card on the Rock Band USB Microphone. I saw on here that any USB Mic would work, but after all the problems I had so far I wanted to see what the official mic would be like. fuck! It may be overkill but it works well. After 100% a bunch of songs on Easy I decided to see what Expert was like. I was actually able to 5 star songs on Expert.

I'm guessing the wire may be the main differentiator, but maybe the quality of the microphone makes a difference. If you are looking for justification to switch to a "real" microphone, I would definitely recommend it.

I can now really say that I love this game. :)

Ohhhhh now I'm chomping at the bit for Who's Next. Just finished Won't Get Fooled Again on hard drums and I need more Keith Moon signature tracks stat!

REALLY????????? Wow,that's great to hear. I tried singing with the wired mic and I was TERRIBLE!!!! I mean, I thought I would be alright on medium, but my pitch was all over the place and I was straining real hard to try to keep the cursor on line, even on easy. I was very put off by the whole experience so I just stopped. I don't think I sing terrible either, but I'm failing on easy ffs!

Singing is something that I would like to do in this if it really makes a difference. Singing will truly extend life into this game. I'm already getting tired of failing Dead on Arrival everytime on drums.

Now, I'm really regretting my purchase of and game and drums only...

Talking about the Rock Band microphone, has anyone else noticed that it's the only peripheral that you can't go through the automatic warranty process for? It actually requires you to call them, while the other instruments do not.

I haven't really heard of any problems with the mic out of the box. The guitar sucks, the drum kick pedal breaks (although some tape and plywood fixed mine), but the mic is pretty hard to mess up.

When you have to hit the mic, it doesn't register that well (at least on mine). I've got it all calibrated perfectly, so there isn't any lag, yet to actually hit the cowbell/whatever, I have to just hit the mic over and over, with no real rhythm.
I would pay them not to put Seperate Ways in the game... If you need a reminder, once again, I give you the music video that made me realize Journey, kinda wussy...To say the least.

Heh isn't that like saying lard is kinda greasy? ;)

Trying my damndest not to rip that band apart. As in really trying to "respect" everyone's music taste, but it's hard I tells ya...

I have to admit I was amazed at the feel of the Rock Band Mic. It feels completely solid. It was expensive, but it feels like the highest quality microphone I have ever handled.

i'm not that much of a sweater, but my hands and feet are where it's the worse. so i cover my sticks in medical tape for grip and takes some of the moisture away.

i just sit on a cushioned folding chair, but i do plan on getting a throne someday. it's high enough for my leg to be at a right angle.

Yes, I have had zero issues with the bundled Rock Band microphone.

And where is my Who, Harmonix?! :bomb:
Seriously, there needs to be a Journey pack

Don't Stop Believin
Any Way You Want It
Seperate Ways
Replace Any Way You Want It with Wheel In The Sky.

And I'd kinda like to see a cheasy REO Speedwagon pack. Live version of Riding The Storm Out and Keep Pushin'.

I use a Tama 1st chair drum throne. Can't say it prevents sweating but it is nice and comfortable. Cost over $100 though.

Wow. Finally after 2 no show packages, 2 empty packages and 5 phone calls, another guitar is on it's way to me. Hopefully this box isn't empty too. I was on the phone with customer service for 50 minutes on Thursday, having to convince the supervisor that I have yet to receive a replacement guitar. At one point he told me that they couldn't send me another package due to the amount of guitars that were "sent" to me.

I wonder if I pissed anyone off in receiving with that silly letter I wrote.

Yes, but only if you use a sledghammer to play with.:)

Sorry if this has been asked but I just bought rock band yesterday and the guitar strum bar is broken. What is the number I call to get a replacement?
How did you do the main riff? I can ever do it.
Months of trying nearly the same pattern on Green Grass.. and don't try to do pull offs, just be quick with your fingers.

Instant purchase.
Everyone else can call lame on this, but let me say "neener neener" to everyone who ignored my request to be included in the train. SUCKERS!
Have fun paying for it. Sucker.

that happened to my drum set..they sent me a box to send the set back in, and it had a little slot for a pedal, so i just put everything in the box (pedal included) to send back to them. a month goes by and i still hadn't received my drum set, so i just went out and bought a new one cause i was going through withdraw. finally i called them and told them i hadn't gotten my set back yet, so they shipped it immediately. they shipped it to my parents house (an hour and a half away from my apartment), so this weekend i packed my my 360 so that i could do some rocking at home..and when i got there i find that they didn't send a pedal back with the replacement drums. i couldn't go a weekend without rocking out, so i went out and bought another set of drums. now i have 3 drum sets (one pedal-less). darn you rock band for getting me addicted.

Jesus.

They saw you coming.
That Hier Kommt Alex song sounds pretty fun, now I just need to freshen up on my German.

can't wait for this stuff to hit!
Yeah, it's a cool song. It's actually one of the bonus tracks in Guitar Hero 3 if you want a preview.
Ahaha, wouldn't releasing the PS3 version first (or at least at the same time) have made more sense over there?

I want to hear from TMK!

It's 180GBP I believe.

But there is some sort of exclusivity thing for a month or so before it's released on PS3, PS2 and Wii.
They've already been waiting for half a year almost anyway.

I've really been craving a Misfits DLC pack. I'd imagine they could throw in 6 songs since most are 2 minutes long, but, man, would those songs rock on a game like this!

Misfits would be terrific.

While I prefer Danzig, I wouldn't mind a few Graves tracks (see: "Saturday Night").

"Die, Die My Darling", "Last Caress", and "Saturday Night", please.

While Graves is not a bad singer, Graves Misfits is not Misfits...at least not in my book. However, my personal Misfits pack would be similar:

Die, Die My Darling
Last Caress
I Turned Into a Martian
