Rock Band series - Rock Band 4 out now

What Casey said. The Pearl Jam project is entirely new and has nothing to do with existing DLC. It was announced last fall. IIRC, it will be all live, like AC/DC.
It isn't a track pack of stuff already released, it is a pack of live pearl jam songs that were chosen by fans.
That was just speculation. Fans were asked to choose from a list of 40 songs for a future "project". Note that AC/DC was titled AC/DC Live: Rock Band.

Well we haven't heard anything about this PJ Live project in a while so maybe there is indeed something in the works for this year. Although with the current state of music games and Green Day and RB3 already slated for 2010 I'm not sure what to make of this listing. :whistle2:k

I do know that I am in for any and all PJ released so I say scrap this Green Day idea and give PJ the full treatment. :bouncy:

Damn skippy! I'd even wait by the game case at Walmart for it to go on sale.

Saw this posted on another forum and thought I'd pass it along. Looks like someone may have let one of the upcoming Soundgarden songs slip:
So on the Mexican XBL site, Grinder (live) is showing up as Superunknown.

If you try to download it, it pulls up Grinder.

Guess we know at least one Soundgarden song in that pack! I'd imagine it's coming pretty soon, too.
so omg SUPERUNKNOWN... this bodes well :whee:

So in for Soundgarden whatever it may be. I just hope they have a good mix of newer and older stuff. Give me Let Me Drown, Searching With My Good Eye Closed and Beyond The Wheel!

I'll be getting Touch of Grey and A Girl Like You next week. A Girl Like You was one of the first songs I requested on the RB website when the first game came out.
Totally in for GD. Their songs are just fun as hell on guitar, period.
You are 100 percent correct. I got to buy some points so I can get the whole pack. The stuff off In The Dark should be a blast.

Since Warner Music Group has obviously changed their stance on putting their music in games (i.e. Green Day getting their own game!) why haven't we gotten any of the stuff from their catalog?

Like Muse. Unless they are holding out for a Muse Rock Band which would make me cream in my drawers.

Any interesting songs hit RBN lately? Please omit any kind of screaming metal when recommending anything to me.

Bang Camero - Swallowing the Razor (80 points)

I need to check out that Death Angel song on RBN...I like some of their stuff but I'm not familiar with that song. Saw them open for Testament in '08.

How are the techno and new wave songs on the RBN? I've been toying with the idea of DLing some of them.

I'm really liking the songs on Lego Rock Band more than I thought I would.

Can't wait for Green Day.

Edit: Beat Lego Rock Band and holy shit are the credits long for that. It's like 4-5 companies full staff repeated with different people. Did it really take THAT MANY people to develop that game?

I grabbed sugar magnolia a while ago via a promotion with pepsi or some shit, and it's a great song. I too am not a fan though.
Did Rock Band ever come out in Japan?
NVM. SInce you guys totally ignored me, this Kotaku article explains it:
According to website JRock Revolution, the site has apparently partnered with Rock Band developer Harmonix to poll its readers about which J-Rock acts it would like to see in Rock Band. In 2008, Harmonix and MTV joined forces with Tokyo-based developer Q Entertainment, the studio behind Lumines, to make a Japanese version of Rock Band. It's 2010, and it is believed that the Q Entertainment localization of Rock Band is on ice. The music of Japanese group X Japan, however, did appear in the second Rock Band game.
This April, Harmonix seemed to hint that a standalone version of Rock Band Japan was not going to happen, but appeared "optimistic about the possibility of having some non-Kanji J-Rock and J-Pop as DLC at some point".
Guitar Hero is getting Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, and Demi Lovato next week.

I think Rock Band missed their demographic when making Lego Rock Band a kid, girl, and tween version of the game. None of the girls in my house like any of the songs on Lego Rock Band, yet they absolutely love Band Hero and play it all the time.

Not being able to play Lady Gaga on Lego Rock Band was a bad move since those are some of the few songs the kids and girls I know play on RB.

Gotta agree with you on that. While I certainly love being able to play The Final Countdown, Let's Dance, Ghostbusters, and Summer of '69, I also wouldn't think that LRB's target audience would care one iota for those songs. For better or worse, Harmonix has no idea how to pander to the pre-adolescent segment.

What kid doesn't like the Ghostbusters song? If your kids aren't familiar with it, that's really your fault for not showing them such an awesome, timeless movie. I can see whatcha mean about the other songs though.

I think they were trying to get them into good music. Then again, tween girls have no taste in music, though my 10 year old nephew likes the game.
We need some Dio this week.
That'd be kind of disrespectful. It would look like they're trying to capitalize on his death, though I would like to see some in the near future.

??

What? People were clamoring for Michael Jackson tunes the week he died. How is it disrespectful to offer fans some tracks to celebrate his music? You give the people what they want.

Personally, I think it would be more of a tribute if anything. Release a big pack of his songs in memory of how hard he rocked

He nailed it exactly. Lego Rock Band was aiming to have good music, not the shit pop radio garbage that Band Hero has.

Didn't see a source cited for this but it looks pretty official so I might as well post it:
Heavy rock legends Pantera are making their Rock Band debut next week in a big way, by bringing fan-favorite album, The Great Southern Trendkill, to the Rock Band Music Library. Pantera formed in Texas in 1981 and has been named to VH1’s “100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock” and MTV’s “Top 10 Greatest Heavy Metal Bands of All Time,” and has sold more than 8 million albums in the United States. The Great Southern Trendkill was released in 1996, as the band’s eighth studio album, reached No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200 and was declared platinum in August 2004. “Floods,” featured on The Great Southern Trendkill, contains a guitar solo that Guitar World voted its 15th Greatest Guitar Solo of All-Time.

Pantera released a greatest hits collection in March 2001, titled 1990-2000: A Decade of Domination, which is available exclusively at Walmart and contains 10 remastered tracks. Additionally, former Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul is set to release an album called Stampede from Hellyeah, his collaboration with members of Mudvayne, Damageplan and Nothingface, in July.

Available on Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation 3 system (May 25):

fuckING SHIT HELL JESUS SHIT! TGST is my favorite Pantera album but I would have never expected to see it on Rock Band! Oh man, Suicide Note Pt. II and the title track are going to be a fucking blast to sing!

It's a double win for me! I get to save points next week, and now maybe we won't hear quite as much complaining about the lack of Pantera!

I'm just messing with you guys. I'm glad you finally got what you've been waiting for.

man, i'm glad we're getting trendkill instead a pack of greatest hits. walk, cemetary gates, et al., are great songs, but nowhere near the best pantera. this album is. i'm surprised they picked this album for the sheer amount of F words alone.

That's the one thing that kinda bummed me out after the initial shock of getting this album wore off, was that I was going to have to fill in all the F words. No big deal though, I know where they go :p

Interesting. Not a huge Pantera fan but this is my second favorite album by them, so I'm probably in for the whole list. I like War Nerve and 10's especially.

However, If that list is accurate, it's missing Suicide Note Part I, and that fucking SUCKS.
Now there's just gonna be griping about when we're going to get more Pantera.
You're goddamn right about that. One can never have too much Pantera.

yeah, it's pretty lame. it's missing off the original vinyl release too, which is just as baffling.

Or in other words, "it's a damn shame." (har har)

So I was just looking into some Offspring news trying to find out some specifics about the album that's supposed to come out this year and found that Rise and Fall Rage and Grace didn't even go Gold here in the US. What. The. fuck?! That album is an ass stomper cover to cover.

And to keep it on topic, we need an Offspring Rock Band. Probably be best to keep the game's lyrics mostly in tact though and give it that M rating. Even though it seems so silly to give a game a mature rating just because of language, but at the same time the game is also asking you to yell out, "fuck!" and stuff when doing vocals and I know my parents though there was a difference between me hearing it and yelling it out. So...yeah. :whistle2:/

Rise and Fall was easily the Offspring's best album since Americana. It is disappointing it didn't do better. So they are working on a follow up? Sweet.
