Are you fucking kidding me? Really? What's your standard? Linkin fucking Park?
Never liked them.

I said some of the best. I know their are bands that strum the guitar lightning fast, the only band I know of and because of GH is Dragonforce. I admit they have awesome skills but fast played music is not as appealing to me.

My top music comes from:
AC/DC
Johnny Cash
Metallica
Led Zeppelin is never going to sign a deal for either game... they have been quoted on record as saying they are not comfortable handing over their masters. Unless they have a huge change of heart, it isn't gonna happen.

They don't care about money, so there isn't really anything to entice them to have one.
Led Zeppelin didn't even write half their songs, there should be no reason for them not to do this.

Don't post about metal ever again. You clearly lack any real understanding of the genre.
Except someone posted right above that it fucking isn't.

This is an epic fail, as it's probably going to be some super-stupid, Wii-style non-game.
how do you figure? it's basically going to be Rock Band Beatles, without being called Rock Band...

you are jumping to huge conclusions man

Metallica is metal right?

For me they are hands down the best.

Just ignore evan(most people do) he is a jackass.
Metallica's S/T album would be huge just because everyone knows those songs.
I consider myself a metallica fan but i have NO IDEA what album you're referring to.

The Black album. Has a snake on the cover.

Thanks for the advice Magus, no hard feelings Evan

How is it not...the press release states it will "take advantage of many Rock Band elements"

What more can you do with a music/rythm game based on a rock band other than making it more RPGish by creating an ingame world for a charatcer to run around in and do stuff. Seriously, It's just going to be menu's just like Rock Band or any other guitar hero game where different colored blips scroll down a screen.
I think you should continue to post about metal because it's funny watching evanft get all fired up.

I 'member being a young lad and getting on kids' cases for not listening to the most obscure stuff possible.

"You don't know Los Crudos/Skitsystem/Charles Bronson?!?!?! fuckin' POSEUR!"

Them were the days. Now I get classrooms full of 75 people laughing at my shit because I didn't understand a reference to a Lil' Wayne album. What goes around...

I like metal! Especially patinum. and don't forget tungsten!

But seriously, I'm still waiting for an Iced Earth, or better yet Blind Guardian, or imho even better, Demons and Wizards album. Sigh, I can dream, can't I?

I'd kill for some Liquid Tension Experiment as well, but not gonna happen since they're instrumental :(
The Black album. Has a snake on the cover.
Isn't that universally referred to as the Black Album? what does S/T have to do with it?
This is an epic fail, as it's probably going to be some super-stupid, Wii-style non-game.
Wrong. From Wired's live blog:

"Game takes advantage of the Rock Band platform in many ways that we'll discuss down the road." (Well, okay. Good. I think people are just hoping that this isn't Wii Music. - CK)

I can't believe the S/T thing has needed to go more than two posts.

S/T = Self Titled. "The black album" is what fans refer to the "Metallica" album as. The album had no name. It was just "Metallica." Hence, self-titled.
I think you should continue to post about metal because it's funny watching evanft get all fired up.
Yep, funny stuff. Only he knows what good metal is.
Isn't that universally referred to as the Black Album? what does S/T have to do with it?
Because the album is actually self-titled.

:) Thanks for the clarification all. I was seriously baffled.

Back to Metallica...i'm doing the Impossible Bass challenge and Battery is kicking my ass on Expert. I get to 95% and fail. So frustrating.

You're gonna loooooooove Dream Theater then.

Yes, it is quite enjoyable...

As for the Beatles thing, yeah, I figured it wasn't a RB2 expansion/DLC thing like the lazy early journalist types made it out to be (like that WSJ article - simply looking up the current product and assuming it was gonna be for that). We all knew better.

What worries me, and others I'm sure, is that they dumb it down thinking they need to do that to get the 50+ crowd who were around when the Beatles were to buy these games for the first time. There's plenty of second and third generation fans (me and my kids, respectively) that want it to be very much in the vein of Rock Band. They could add a keyboard instrument, though, to make better use of many Beatles songs. And otherwise, make it like GH:Aerosmith and just be a game featuring them. Then people like evanft can ignore it completely as it won't sully their download lists.

As for Metallica, yeah, still don't know anything of theirs besides the Sandman thing. Meh. And I've been around for a while ;). They seem OK but to me they don't stand out from any number of other bands included in Rock Band - why people cream over them I have no idea. I'd prefer more REM or Nirvana (which I just got, thanks) to them myself. I remember that whole Napster thing and if it wasn't for that I'd know even less about them. What seemed odd to me at the time was why they were so upset about it - I couldn't imagine wanting to pirate their stuff ;). But yes, I understand they have their rabid fanboys just like any other band/console.

But where's my Pink Floyd? Any blurbs on why they aren't on board with these games?

Wow you have good taste.

Alas, don't hold your breath. I really doubt we'll get any of that, it's too obscure in America. I still have my fingers crossed for some Nightwish when the next Euro packs come out around the time RB2 launches in Europe.

I can tell you now that Iced Earth, Blind Guardian and ESPECIALLY Demons and Wizards will never happen.

Actually, I could see Iced Earth happening, but probably one of the newer songs.

I dont believe Im going to convince you otherwise so Im not going to give you the "OMFG YOU HAVENT HEARD ALBUM XYZ?!" But they are the fathers of thrash metal, wrote some amazing songs, have some of the most heavy and iconic riffs, and some of the most memorable solo's in metal, without having to drop-tune or scream like a banshee. If youre interested in getting into some of their stuff pre-black and like some good thrash try Ride The Lightning or ...And Justice For All. In my opion RTL was their best album and AJFA was opne of the most progressive metal albums ever created and is IMO their second best album.
One whole page dedicated to the term S/T and the "Black" album...

Something seems off here today...
For as long as I've read them, the Rock Band threads here have been about 50% bitching about metal, and 50% talking about the game Rock Band.

Why not? We've got Dream Theater already, (or is that in GH, I get em mixed up). Not too far from it. Hell, I'd settle for Ayreon at this point, just to watch my friends try and sing like Arjen Lucassen.

And for the chick singers, how about some Stream of Passion? I'm pretty much in love with Marcela Bovio's voice...

Id like to see MSI in it......but only the right MSI songs. I like stuff off their first 2 or 3 albums a lot but a lot of their newer stuff is just too god damn out there. They were weird to begin with and their new stuff just seriously took it from to far to MUCH to far.

Arjen rarely sings on any of his stuff. I'd love some more prog. Pain of Salvation, Queensryche, Symphony X, Ayreon and more Coheed.

As for females definitely Tarja era Nightwish and Amy Lee with Evanesence. I'd love to see some Sheryl Crow in the game. In fact I'm pretty surprised she isn't in a game yet.

Well, smack my ass and call me Susan, guess I skimmed over that part. I saw a lot of references to it being visual and what not and started seeing visions of something very shitty.
I think you should continue to post about metal because it's funny watching evanft get all fired up.
I have a problem with people spewing feces all over the internets. They can go hang out with monkeys if that's all they're going to do.
..to the list of shit that should never be in Rock Band, am I right or what?
OICWATUDIDTHAR

Rockband needs Third Eye Blind, they have an album coming out soon so we may get some.

Semi-charmed kinda life, Jumper, Hows it Gonna be, Graduate, Motorcycle Drive-by, Narcolepsy, Non-dairy Creamer, ANYHTING!

One of the most underrated bands of the 90's

You sir (or madam), are correct on so many levels. That, and I listened to Eve 6 the other day. Promise would be so damn fun to play on every instrument.

yes yes yes yes yes please. i would pay so much money for a 3eb pack. you don't even know.
if they put an iced earth song in rock band without richard christy on drums, no thanks
Richard Christy drummed on 2 of Iced Earth's albums, both of which were the worst they had released up to that point. Their earlier material is vastly superior.

I've been wanting Third Eye Blind in Rock Band ever since the game came out. They are great and almost any of their songs would be PERFECT for Rock Band.
I may just get the 80 pt songs cause, well, they're 80 pts. Unless they just completely suck, which they very well might.
This. I'll get FoB because they aren't bad and my friends like them. Hinder, well, I'll just wait to see the note chart.
