Alright guys and gals. I have a lot of MS Points on my account.

Give me your top 10 DLC list's so I make sure I'm not missing out on something awesome.

Sorry if its inappropriate to brag, so mock away.

But I just 5-starred two songs via the drums on Medium during my first attempts. "The Middle" and "Come Out and Play (Keep 'Em Separated)".

Nah... brag away. Everyone has their own milestones to get to.

I finally broke down and got War Zone - still far from the best Rob Zombie song, but it's got some pretty good drumming in it.

Murder by Death and/or Bloc Party would be incredible. Would also love to see some Placebo and more Interpol available.

Unrelated: I think I need a new USB hub for my RB setup. Will any 4-port hub work, or do I have to pay $25 for the official RB hub?

Does it have to have it's own powersource or can I use a plug-n-play?

Has anyone cheacked out the new Dead pack? I dont have the new rock band yet but I am concidering picking it up to grab these songs. I loved the first pack they put out, its hammer-on/pull-off heaven. I saw the review on IGN but I want to hear someone else's opinion since they have been stearing me wrong lately.

Also, I know that it is a few pages back but the easiest way that I have been able to get my friends to play on hard and expert is not by learnign to play 2 buttons with your pinky but play green and red(those are the top 2 right?) with your index finger. Also, I know it sounds crazy but sometimes expert is easier than hard. I think it is because on most of the songs, all of the notes are at least half known subconciencly from hearing the songs on the radio and it messes people up when some have been removed. Hope it helps.

Full Harmonix statement:

There has been a lot of discussion over a recent article that stated "MTV said it plans to increase the number of available songs this year to as many as 5,000."

In an effort to clarify and put some context around that number, please see the original quote on ArsTechnica.com from an interview with Alex Rigopulos, CEO and co-founder of Harmonix, during this year's CES.

In that article, Alex stated:

"That said, one of the great promises of the (Rock Band) catalog moving forward, as the catalog expands from 500 songs to 5,000 songs or whatever in the coming years, is that we're going to be less constrained from a genre standpoint, and I think you will see us starting to branch out into... whether it's country or R&B and jazz or funk, or things of that sort. With the critical mass of the "rock" core covered, of course we'll keep expanding it, but the critical mass is covered, so now we can start to branch off in ways that haven't made sense in the past but will make sense moving forward."

There's the official HMX statement, all you have to do is read the article. :D

Dude, the Metallica pack is an absolute necessity. That should be the FIRST DLC pack you download.

Oh horseshit. They've barely scraped the surface of "rock," let alone "covered the critical mass."

I hope these guys aren't losing focus.

Since I'm always carefully rationing my points, and I'm only ever gonna buy a fraction of DLC anyway, I say bring on the variety! About 90% of my playtime with this game is in local multiplayer, so I'm all about the crowd-pleasers.

I gave them each a couple runs on guitar yesterday and they have the same fun feel that the first pack had; very noodley and all over the place. Drums are also very good on the whole. I haven't checked out the bass, but I'm sure they're better than most other songs tend to be on bass. ;) Of course, there's always videos to aid your purchase as well.

*WARNING BAD MUSIC AHEAD WARNING*

im sure Harmonix will announce this soon (they usually announce upcoming DLC on Fridays)

but turns out we might be able to buy some horrible music from the upcoming Nickelodeon original movie
Spectacular!

found the story through wiki (yes i was bored looking on rock bands dlc page)
http://homemediamagazine.com/product-news/sony-promotes-spectacular-with-rock-band-game-tie-14432

two songs that will supposedly be put up on the Xbox Marketplace on Feb.3 and Feb.5 for Playstation Store for .99 are from the movies soundtrack.

"Break My Heart"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9zt84JMn3I

"Don't Tell Me"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4uDNeibqQs&feature=channel

also i would like to add....WHY HARMONIX , WHY RELEASE THIS??? , STOP WITH THIS PRE-TEEN MUSIC CRAP AAHSDJASDJKH
theres so much good music to be put into dlc dammit!!!!

seriously , the other tracks coming out with these two "songs" better be dam good.

My friends who runs Rock Band nights was hosting a private party and these little girls kept playing that free Miranda Cosgrov song "headphones on." By kept playing I mean six times (and thus driving them insane), so if there's that kinda dedication then there's some kinda market...
Nickelodeon sells... but who's buying?
Parents. That's why 2/3 of my daughter's stuff has either Dora, Diego or Spongebob somewhere on it.

Wow, I've never heard The Dead's music described as noodley. It's perfect!

And when are we going to get some Zappa and more importantly Sublime. I demand an entire Sublime game and not the popular songs off of self titled. I want Fallen Idols damnit!

O Rly?
And when are we going to get some Zappa
Yes - This!!!

I got the dead pack the other day. Played through once on guitar. It's fun - Maybe not exactly the songs I'd choose but I understand they want to keep the song lengths reasonable (also I'm not a big Bobby fan.)

Maybe next we'll get a help>slip to go with our franklin's tower and a scarlet begonias for our fire on the mountain and an epic 40+ minute Dark Star (or the brief studio version either way!) ;)

I'm way behind the curve here, but how do you get the "select venue" feature? I didn't even know you could do that until I saw it on a gameplay video on YouTube recently. Are there any other unlockable features I should be aware of?

I've primarily been playing multiplayer since I initially unlocked the songs, so it's quite possible I've missed a lot of stuff. I just assumed that the only stuff left was to buy the more expensive clothes/instruments and go for achievements.

Variety is fine, I welcome them expanding out...but not at the expense of what should be the core focus. That HMX quote makes it seem like they are satisfied with their output of rock/classic rock/metal/etc and think it's time to shift focus on to all this other nonsense (ie whatever we can cross-promote). There's no reason for them to be "satisfied" with anything. There's always a practically limitless amount of content out there in every genre.

If they want to bring out some Nickelodeon electro-funk new wave track pack, fine. But they also better continue to release some decent "standard" shit alongside it.

Exactly. I don't mind other genres, hell I'm the biggest proponent for Dr. Teeth & the Electric Mayhem, but the steady stream of 'Rock' should remain and not be sacrificed for a different genre.

Oh yeah, believe me, there's tons of untapped "rock" that I can't wait to see in the game. But if you accept their whole statement at face value, and assume that they ARE seriously gonna shoot for 90 songs per week, then things should be fine. I mean with that many songs, they'd have to go really far out of their way NOT to bring plenty of rock.

I mean what do we get now, on average? Like six songs a week (barring the occasional album release), right? 90 songs still sounds like a wild claim, but if a mere 10% of that is "rock" then we'll already be getting more than we get now.

I hate to admit it, but "Headphones On" was totally worth the minute or so I had to wait while it downloaded. It's catchy fun, and I could see my sister going crazy on the Nickelodeon DLC.

Next Weeks' DLC

Here's the DLC announcement arriving on the week of 2/3. We're busting out a 3 pack of Thin Lizzy anthems from their new live cd, and backing that up with classic singles from The Pretenders and Pat Benatar, as well as two tracks from Nikko!

Here's the full scoop:

Thin Lizzy - Boys Are Back In Town (Live)
Thin Lizzy - Cowboy Song (Live)
Thin Lizzy - Jailbreak (Live)
The Pretenders - Precious
Pat Benatar - Hit Me With Your Best Shot
Nikko - Break My Heart
Nikko - Don't Tell Me

All tracks are original master recordings.

These tracks will be $1.99 (160 Microsoft Points) a piece, or $5.49 (440 Microsoft Points) for the Thin Lizzy 3 pack, with the exception of the Nikko tracks which will run $0.99 (80 Microsoft Points) each.

You can find these songs in the Xbox Live Marketplace on Tues Feb 3rd, and in the Playstation Store on Thurs Feb 5th.

It's funny that Jail Break is going to be int he game because every time I hear it come on at the gym I think for a brief second that it is in Rock Band. (I think I associate it with Alabama Getaway for some reason)

I'll pick up the whole Thin Lizzy pack more than likely and you can't go wrong with some Pat Benatar!

Well just finished up, took 6 hours and 35 mins to complete. Thought my vocal chords would hurt a lot but they are fine.

Only failed on Shackler's Revenge three times, the intro is such a bitch to sing.

Alive,Battery,Everlong were some of my favs. Last thing, Visions is ridiculously easy to sing.:whee:

Soo.... Tried The Perfect Drug on Hard.... Failed after 15 seconds....

Does anyone else think they'll break the kick pedal on that song?

Man, I am starting to think that maybe I just dont like rock as much as I thought. I havent been excited over any of the tracks for the better part of the year. No Doubt was the only thing I looked forward to.Most of the songs are nice but not good enough for me to actually purchase them because I dont think I would play them more than 1 or 2 times.

Then every time I see a artist I like they always pick some of the worst tracks as DLC. Its always 1 decent song followed by 5 of songs that you wouldnt turn off if they came on the radio but you wouldnt put them on a cd.

Hmmmp.
