First off there's more faces and the interface feels more sleek. Also the bonus DL songs are a code on the back of the booklet that you enter in the website and then get a token to DL when they're made avaliable.
Now that code is for those 20 bonus songs they have been talking about? Are they already handing out the tokens or does it say come back when announced?

Yeah for the 20 Bonus songs and I haven't entered the code yet, but it basically says when the songs are announced or released they'll send you a code via e-mail to dl off marketplace.

Interesting. I was unable to get my copy today but the signs are looking good for tomorrow, and might be able to get my Star Wars early as well. It would be sweet if I could pull that off. Anyway, whether I get my game before or on release date, I'll probably hold off on inputting my code until they are announced, that way I don't have to worry about some epic failure on HMX's part.

Man, between the free bonus songs and the RB1 exports, Harmonix is really going the extra mile here!
Call me gay, by I just came upon some REO Speedwagon on my iTunes and I think some of their stuff should be on Rock Band.

80's rock in general is really lacking, and has lacked in virtually any music game out there with the exception of Rock the 80's of course.

Yeah, bands who destroyed the ozone layer really aren't represented as much as I wanted. I think only time I wouldn't mind Bret Michaels in a game, so cheesy it just works.
... Yeah, the reason there's so few 80's songs in these games is that the 80's was a vast wasteland for good music (amongst other things). And I say this as someone who was in high school smack in the middle of the 80's. Music got good again in the 90's, thankfully. And yes, IMO ;).

But yeah, for the cheese factor and nostalgia factor (for me, anyway - probably not for some of you young-uns) it would be nice to see a few more from then. I wouldn't pay for 'em (via DLC) though.
So, anybody played it yet? ;) ;) *cough**leak**cough*
I have seen a few CAGs on my FL playing it...
Why the fuck is the drum set wireless?!

A guitar being wireless makes more than perfect sense. A drum set though?

It's just going to be another thing that sucks up batteries, and another reason to experience double hits. I really hope that there is a wired option for the RB2 kit.

I would like to thank the majority of the general gaming community that touts wireless as nothing but convenient! convenient!! convenient!!!

This sucks!
Sorry, man, I would never buy a wired drum kit so I'm happy. Buy some rechargeable batteries! It has been no big deal using them on the GH III guitar. Unless the drums would drain them much faster for some reason I don't see a problem using them there.

Oh man I would take some glam and hair metal over grunge any day.

Hmm, I'm wondering if you could download the songs and play them on RB1 if you happened to score a code somehow. Either way, I'm just hoping that these 20 tracks are available on release date. I definitely do not like the fact that they have not been announced yet and it sounds questionable if they will be ready come Sunday.

Either way, the DLC announcement could be very interesting tomorrow. Can't wait to hear what they have.

Also, is everyone positive that once you export the songs from RB1 you will no longer need the disc? It just seems odd that they would let you basically "buy" 60+ songs for 400 MSP. I can just see them pulling some BS where you have to insert the disc every so often... :bomb:

I thought it was only around 55 songs? Also, they assume you bought the original disc so you are paying an extra $5 to play them on a newer game.

Well, we technically already paid for the game, and the songs SHOULD be in RB2 but i assume space or something else was an issue. It's tempting to transfer over the songs and then sell my game and guitar...

Hey, I agree that we already bought the game and should be able to use them in RB2. It is just surprising when big companies do something cool like this for their customers so I'm a little skeptical. Especially since allowing the export of all songs will make it easy to people to just rent or GameFly RB1 to get the tracks.

I just hope that everyone doesn't trade in their RB1 disc, pick up RB2 and then find out that every 5 times you play the game you have to insert your RB1 disc or some lame shit like that. This is EA (Spore DRM) and Microsoft (all XBL content DRM) we are talking about.

The way I see it, they're making 5 dollars when they'd actually be making no dollars if they didn't offer the ability to export the disc songs.

I think this actually works from a business standpoint. I don't think a lot of people were going to get RB2 and then run out to get the first game. The people that wanted the first game already got it.

However, you can't really pass up 55 songs for just 5 dollars. so everyone is going to rent it, borrow it, whatever, and then pay Harmonix 5 dollars.

Most people have even gone as far as already exporting the disc songs. I don't plan on doing it at the moment, and I don't plan on getting rid of my RB1 disc either. maybe down the road I'll move them to the HDD, but I don't want to taint the hot 'n' fresh batch that is the RB2 song list with the old crap I have already played, at least not any time soon.

So Harmonix is happy making a few extra bones, and we're happy that we won't need to swap discs to enjoy all of our songs.

It's a win win for sure!

With DRM though, you might have to end up rerenting or borrowing if when you're xbox RRODs.

One thing I easily got to say about it is DLC is ALOT more frequent in the game. Also can hire staff in the game to do things, but so far haven't figured out what...

EDIT: nm, you can hire staff (such as fans or intern) to help get you more fans and I guess eventually cash. Man, I love this game...

So I'm starting a new band in RB2, and it asks for a name. So, I click on it to put one in, and it gives me a suggestion. "Whiteboard Power", well, at first, I misread it, so it looked like "White Power". So, I named my band that for fun. But it told me that the name wasn't 'classy', so nobody would be able to see it on Xbox Live. Talk about tough filters. My white supremacy is up to me to decide, not Xbox Support. ;)
So, has this broken street date all over the place? Or are you all pirates?
I have a good friend in a videogame store.

I loved the fact that I was able to participate in the "Pre-release Challenge". That's bragging rights there!

I was also able to demo it at E3, they had us on stage with large speakers, lights, etc.. tons of fun.

Okay I just turned on my 360 and three people are playing this right now. Man I knew I should have checked a couple stores today. Sort of late to go check now.

Yeah, I just saw you get online... I was wondering if I would get any reaction.

Yeah, unfortunately my only hookup possibility is Saturday. I am going to check with him Saturday though.

FYE is a great place to look. I know I had luck finding the game there.

Unfortunately im stuck using my GH2 wired guitar, which makes my hands cramp up after 10 minutes. I cant wait til they start selling the new guitars.

I'll add FYE to the list of places I should check out tomorrow. I'm hoping the local Play N Trade will have it and that'll end my search but I have to hit up Target anyway. bardockkun you got it at TRU?

Only because I work there long enough that they trust me, but we got our copies in on Wednesday.

Edit: Ugh, Jesus Christ I've been playing for like 5 or so hours straight...

If anyone needs an extra mic, let me know - just pay shipping. I've got a spare from the American Idol bundle.

Picking up RB2 on Sunday after BustaUpping my RB1 disc to BB. Hope to play online with some of you guys soon.
Oh so they're not on the shelves at your TRU yet then? Worth a shot though, seems like they don't care about much at my local TRU.
Wouldn't hurt, since it seems majority of the stores in the afternoon have a non-video game playing associate working at that time.

Going to best buy today after work to see if they broke street, also getting the new bass, and a points card and using the $10 off $75 coupon.

From the RB forums:

A couple people over on ScoreHero have been saying/confirming that there is no way to see the number of Stars you have attained when you go to select songs in the Quickplay Menu or Tour Challenge Menu. It merely looks like all of the screenshots we've seen of the new song selection menu, with only your Top Score, and thats it.

Pretty disappointing if that's true.
I've never seen BB break street.
Yeah I know it is very unlikely. It's more just checking while I am there getting the bass and the points card not going for the specific purpose of getting the game early. I have the game paid off at gamecrazy anyway.
From the RB forums:

Want some more disappointment?

1. No "more stats" screen.

2. If one person is playing on easy and another on expert, both charts still scroll at the easy speed

3. No real leaderboard improvements, like being able to quickly view your rank in the song list or sort the leaders by difficulty.

4. The Rock Band 2 drums appear, at least from the first 2 reviews, to suck. The pedal is exactly the same except for a steel plate on the top.

I got the drums yesterday and they seem good to me. Quieter, sturdier. I can pick it up and move it without it falling apart. Seems lighter too. I was having a issue at first where hitting yellow once out of every 20 hits might trigger blue to go off, but when i tried to show my wife that i couldn't get it to happen even if i hit it harder than i normally do. Plus, I figure the velocity sensitiveness might not be the best for rock band 1 since it was made for rock band 2. Guess I'll find out sunday when i get rock band 2, but for now i like them quite a bit.

I just need to get more rechargeable AA's since it uses 3 and everything else in my house needs them too.

Does that only apply to the easy difficulty, or will it always use the scroll speed of the lowest difficulty?

Well I decided to go at lunch to get the p bass, I got $10 off because they tried to give me a broken one and then had me wait for ten minutes. I am still at work but I took it out of the box and it feels really nice.

Edit: Here you go.

Can you at least quote who you got this from? It's from HMXSean on the Rock Band forums.

Sweet - Mike Marsh from Dashboard Confessional is one of my fav drummers.

More modern pop songs for Rock Band means more reasons to get my girlfriend to play this game with me.

The Cab song isn't half-bad either.
