Bestbuy has a separate, two week flier for music gear and they're advertising Rocksmith game bundle+ Epiphone guitar for $199.98 and you get a $50 giftcard with purchase of the game/guitar bundle.

Ad is a bit odd in that they only list sku's for the game bundle and standalone guitar (#2633103, 2633149, 2273055), so they may be doing in-store bundling. Plus they list the game + guitar bundle as a 10 savings over buying everything separate

I'll let the musician CAGs speak to the quality of the guitar;)

Like I said before, seems like they are doing an in-store bundle instead of selling the official Rocksmith guitar kit. Won't know for sure until it's bought

UPDATE #2: deal is definitely an in-store bundle of standalone guitar + game bundle. Guitar is an Epiphone LP jr with a cherryburst finish and no strap or picks are included. Asked about substituting a different guitar model but bundle price won't activate if you switch it out

Got my two straps today and pretty nice overall.

The padding is stitched on and solidifies things up quite a bit. And it pretty much makes it into a 2.5" wide strap. Only gripe is around the ends (where there's NO padding). Seems too flimsy. Don't know how durable they'll be. Guess there's only one way to find out

Kinda the same way with me in wanting the more unique/oddball models. The silverburst firebird hit both points for me. Liked it so much that I even thought of grabbing another FB just to drop some p90s into it

Out of the BB deals, I was most interested in the montego black strat, blizzard pearl tele and LPB bass

Traditional teles, strats, LPs don't excite me as much. Maybe that'll change as I improve. Knowing me, not likely:cold:. Hafta like what I'm buying or else I won't use it

Anyone else noticed that Monoprice is selling cheapy guitars now? 90 for a Strat clone, 130 for an LP clone, both are basswood bodies with bolted necks. Only the Strats are available now but the 20% coupon if you signed up for their mailing list or whatever that expires 12/31 works on them too.
 
Never saw those before. The best clones/bang for the buck guitars I have read about are strats - jay turser les paul - agile

Some of those guitars at rondomusic.com look amazing for the price. If I had not gotten such a deal on my prs I would have gone with an agile.

This is the retail PC version, which means it comes with the cable. Just be aware that there was a problem at launch with the PC version missing cd unlock keys. So you may hafta call Ubi to get the unlock key

That's crazy and awesome at the same time. Wouldn't mind trying either the strats or LPs. And Monoprice is good about replacing faulty items so I'd chance it if I was in the market for one

Man, forgot about the deadline on those cuz I didn't wait too long to use mine up:). First one went towards and SG case for my Wilshire. And used the other on BF for the Greta amp. Didn't do too bad; about 110 real world money got me about 200 in stuff and all before the crazy Holiday PM policy

Would need to double-check but I think you lose the bonus amount and not the original amount you paid. So your 50gc kinda reverts to a pre-paid 25 card

It was an old deal where you pay $25 for a 50giftcard. It popped up in Sept or Oct, I think

Thanks for trying. I will be borrowing my friend my amp for a while since he has a house and I have a paper made apartment. That and for some reason I like playing unplugged. Convient quiet and helps me concentrate on how I am playing.
 
Total impulse buy but I have one of those Monoprice strat clones in red coming soon...will give impressions later of playing it out of the box since they claim every one of them is set-up before shipping and since I only live about an hour away from them there shouldn't be any undoing of said set-up by the time it gets here.

Yup, negatory on Fender finds for me.

Best was a MIM tele for 230. But even that is a bit of a drive. Too lazy and cheap to bother. Besides, I've got my PT to keep me company:)

Curious to know what its like. Look forward to your update on it. They have a nice clean look, though it's weird to see MONOPRICE on the headstock. They shoulda done something like "M&P guitars":lol:

I was always willing to try out some of the Rondo stuff. But the funky headstock and extra shipping cost to get here sorta killed it for me. May try a bass deal down the road. I like some of the new models. Just waiting to see some reviews (if they ever show)

That clearance page based on the stores I went to is a hell of a lot more accurate now as opposed to the original "here's a thousand items, pray they're in store" listings they had.
 
I picked this up along with a Yamaha FX325 Acoustic Electric guitar. I'm planning on doing Justin Guitar for the basics and Rocksmith for the fun!

How were you able to find that? The sku does not turn up anything and the only ones I do find are 69.99 on market place.

Have not ordered my board yet and wouldn't mind saving a little more considering how much use it will get.
 
My wallet hates those of you who have been reporting stupid deals at best buy recently. As for myself, I love you cheap bastards.

Went in tonight just to look and picked up a Schecter Hellraiser C-1 for $247 +tax.

I'm sure this is probably local to my store but they were running an extra 25% all clearance in the music area.

Only found it on the web site's clearance lists at one of the five stores by me that has an instruments section. Doubt any of these will pop up on a regular site search at this point if you can't see it.

Hm...Hellraiser shows $330 for me. But if the extra 25% off thing is nationwide it's time for an extended holiday PM/return-rebuy...

Yep, that's what was in store. $329.99 on the tag and then the extra 25% brought it down to the $247. For the record I was at store number 577 and it was not shown online.

Also, I did see that pedal board discussed above on clearance but I was on the fence after looking at it and didn't pick it up.
 
Ah I see now. The closest store to me just has a bunch of pedals and drum stands online. Its a few hours away though just going to check is a bit of a trip. May be a good thing though. I already got two guitars for the holiday and my birthday. I still really want to get a fender though.

So glad I am not a big gibson fan so many amazing deals over the past two months. With those price match gift cards they were crazy. Almost went for a 799 2013 gibson sg standard. But thought if it was gibsons answer to the strat I would just rather have a strat.

Since I don't get to see them first hand my wallet has been mostly safe. Would hate to think of how many guitars I would have right now if I was able to get in on those fender deals or that schecter hellraiser that was mentioned above. Was really gasing for one last year but only found a good deal on a lefty.

Yeah, and it was cheaper than buying the bass upgrade for my Xbox version. I'm hoping that Steam will discount RS in the next day. I'd like to pickup some of the DLC at a discount too.
 
One thing I'm wondering about with the PC version is if it has any of the audio lag issues that the Xbox had.

I had my Xbox on component and analog audio as a result of the issues, but didn't know if we would still need analog audio output to a stereo for my PC.

Nope. It's a proprietary cable. If you can find the old version at Walmart, it's 19.99. The Steam version was meant for people that already have a cable from the console version.
 
I have the pc retail version from the Amazon gold box, there's no instruction sheet on reducing audio lag, not a guarantee of anything but to me that's a good sign, won't have time to play until the weekend though to he sure. Also the pc version will pay itself over time of you like dlc thanks to semi annual steam sales.

Well, I've tried the steam demo and it ran smoothly on my laptop (2year old sucker). NO lag, no stutter.

You could at least test out your rig with the demo

Your really a fan of schecter. That hellraiser bass is calling me. I really want a fender though. If it does keep dropping like that I might have to buy both though.
 
Quick and dirty "review" of the Monoprice strat clone guitar

Red finish is glossy but not metallic
Setup is actually quite good, very low action at 1st fret, no buzzing I could find around the board
Frets are vintage sized (small...)
Included gig bag is little more than a dust cover
Don't have an amp to test the pickups but given the price of the guitar I would just assume they're generic OEM
Lighter than most other Strats due to basswood body, but not as light as a Squier Bullet (thicker body)
Neck is finished with thin layer of satin
For a no name guitar, it actually has a serial number of some sort on the back of the headstock
The headstock logo looks kinda silly with the PRO AUDIO SERIES subtitle there, they should've just put the model name "California Classic" on it instead
Requested more detailed specs but they just gave me a generic "we don't have an answer for you at this time" mail

Bottom line: May be worth it as a first guitar in terms of value (though I hear shipping prices are much more unpalatable when you're not in CA/AZ) and while I don't feel like I particularly wasted my money on it, if I could turn back time I would've passed on it because I don't want to be swimming in Strats lol. Reality though is that this isn't the 80s anymore; I don't think beginners or even intermediate players should be worried about the differences between a $100 model like this one and a $1000 Fender MIA version. I'll continue to live and die by the CAG mantra/bang for your buck.
