Salty I need to re-do my profile in CAG4.0
As the original deal morphed into a game deal and guitar advice thread, I decided to place the original BB deal behind spoiler tags for a reference point. And I listed the current deals below. The guitar purchase is the most difficult part for us beginners, so read the advice in the thread

Too busy to read the entire thread? Then try these following posts for the guitar advice. Thanks to SmileyMcSmiles for all the help :applause:

Guitar+Bass Version*****

Original Version*****

Original DEAL behind this Spoiler
Bestbuy has a separate, two week flier for music gear and they're advertising Rocksmith game bundle+ Epiphone guitar for $199.98 and you get a $50 giftcard with purchase of the game/guitar bundle.

Ad is a bit odd in that they only list sku's for the game bundle and standalone guitar (#2633103, 2633149, 2273055), so they may be doing in-store bundling. Plus they list the game + guitar bundle as a 10 savings over buying everything separate

I'll let the musician CAGs speak to the quality of the guitar;)

UPDATE: Bestbuy finally got the site updated with the offer.
Link Dead
Like I said before, seems like they are doing an in-store bundle instead of selling the official Rocksmith guitar kit. Won't know for sure until it's bought

UPDATE #2: deal is definitely an in-store bundle of standalone guitar + game bundle. Guitar is an Epiphone LP jr with a cherryburst finish and no strap or picks are included. Asked about substituting a different guitar model but bundle price won't activate if you switch it out

Had 2 emails from freebizmag over the last couple of days - one for a free year of guitar player magazine and one today for a year of guitar world magazine... Check your inboxes or go see if you can get to them directly from freebizmag site...

Rocksmith FB page today confirmed an Edgar Winter song for the 5 pack tomorrow...

Cannot find free guitar magazines on freebizmag. It's either targeted or was a limited offer
Make sure you sign up for their emails... I've gotten the guitar player before (ran out in December) and get the offer every other month or so. Guitar Player was a new offer... Excited because that has tabs in every issue...

5/5 DLC -Blues 5-Pack
Bobby Blue Bland - Ain’t No Love In The Heart Of The City
Freddie King - Hide Away
Howlin Wolf - Spoonful
John Lee Hooker - Boom Boom
Johnny Winter - Be Careful With A Fool

Took my Strat, HD500 and my Kustom 5W tube amp outside on Sunday when my kid was playing in his playground. Hooked my iphone into the mp3 jack on the HD500 and played along to some country songs I knew the lead parts for. Damn, that was fun... Gonna be doing that a lot this summer, I think. I'm telling you, if you don't do it very often, unplug form Rocksmith occasionally and play through an amp to an mp3. It's so much different, but it's fun and you can hear your mistakes or things you need to improve.

Kinda interested in getting an amp now... no stores stocking that near me though :whistle2:( is there a forum similar to cag for guitar stuff?

Thu didn't have one out and I was out of time today. Says in stock for my store. May see tomorrow if they have one I can play through. I have a 5w tube amp that will crush this one volume wise, but it might be a nice practice option.

I stopped by GC and they got me one shipped from Tacoma. Guess it's on clearance so they are all sales final. I tried out what he said was this years model though and seemed great for practicing on.

Also grabbed a 10' cable for 15$, but didn't shop around first. Thinkin maybe I should return the cable and just grab something off mono price instead. Gonna save the receipt just in case

i have been using monster's 100 series cables for years and highly recommend them. you can get them cheap on ebay.

Thank you both for the freebizmag heads up. I hadn't heard of this before. Appreciate it.

Must resist
Don't resist...

Power: 120W (tube)
Tubes: five 12AX7 (preamp); four 6L6, convertible to EL34 (power amp)
Two channels
Two inputs: high gain; low gain

9 tubes, and you can take the 6L6s up to EL34s... That's crazy shit for 229. If I had the scratch, I'd buy this thing right now...

Is this a once in a lifetime deal or woild similar opportunities come up through the year. Its just that I am still very new to electric guitar, so picking up two amps in two days is a bit tough for me. Im definitely considering it but if I coild find similar deals in the future I might hold off

Edit: i guess i and u are interchangeable on my keyboard

MF has been blowing out the older Bugera amps for a few months. This is a solid deal. Its about the price point that some of the other Bugera amps have sold for over the last few months.

I agree. It's a solid deal. 1 word of warning... My 5 watt tube amp can shake the walls. A 120 watt tube amp should shake the walls... Of a medium sized club.

On the bright side of this amp, Bugera makes good shit. If you ever actually decided to join a band, this amp would serve very well as an onstage amp in any venue for any type of band - amateur or professional.

i still dont understand the benefits of this amp but im interested in buying one to be prepared if it ever comes to me playing some gigs. please help this noob guitarist out please :-({|=

What do you mean? Tube Amos are prized over solid state amps because of their sound. While SS amps "model" the sound of tubes breaking up (overdrive), tube amps are the real thing. At higher volumes or levels of gain, a tube "breaks up", which is a fancy term for distortion. If you want a good idea of what straight tube sounds like, put on an AC/DC record and crank it up. Angus uses little to no effects. He uses a Gubson SG straight to a Marshall stack.

Pedals are fine. Solid state amps with effects built in are fine. But if  you want to play professionally, with very few exceptions, you want a tube amp. The one notable exception I can think of right off hand is Garbage. They switched entirely to using HD500 pedals with custom patches a while back.

Dammit, I can;t stop thinking about this damn amp. I think I'm gonna get it and sell a couple of pedals that I don't use, anyway... To get an amp that is more powerful than I'll ever use... Being a music gearhead makes no sense at all...

amp modelers are the new thing now. but this is CAG, we ain't got $$ to afford that

I'm not one to talk anyone out of gear purchases considering how much "isht" I've bought since starting this Rocksmith tour.

But I will say you'll probably find another killer amp deal in a year or two. Not likely to be the same brand, but still something really good.

In my case I went gaga for those Kustom amps that were blown out 2-3 years ago. I wanted the 50watt version of a model but so did everyone else  , so I settled on the 100watt model. It's more than I need right now and probably more than I'll ever need, but it sure is fun to plug in every now and then :D/ .

Otherwise I use a small 5w Kustom or my Fender G-dec when offline from RS.

Point is buy it  . You'll regret skipping out on a great deal or you'll regret buying something you'll rarely use, so don't live life with regrets... just buy it.

Now back to my Destiny induced coma

Oh shit.. Forgot to share these... I had a pretty good spot for Seether last week at a club an hour or so away from me...

There is barely any zoom on this. From my iPhone...

Normally I'd be all for buying it... but we are also getting ready to buy a house, so my disposable income has become much less disposable.  I think I will survive with my little practice amp for now, and wait to pick up something totally kick ass once I can do it justice with my playing skills.

On another note, I didn't pick up the Dethklok dlc yet due to it's difficulty but it did convince me to rewatch all of Metalocalypse

I thought about buying the amp, but all of the reviews I read would talk about the poor quality of Bugera, so I decided against it.  I do like the way it sounds though.

Got my pedals today. For $9 I wasn't expecting much, and neither should anybody else. They are very low build and sound quality. Maybe worth the $9, maybe not. I bought them for my bedroom, but they really don't sound good through my fender frontman 15g so they will probably go unused. P.S. Don't buy a Fender Frontman 15g. I got mine for free so I don't cry about it, but they are worthless.

Has anyone here made the jump to a 5-string bass? I have been thinking about it because I end up drop tuning for a lot of my favorite songs and get a lot of fret noise. I was also thinking I might be able to just swap strings and tune BEAD, but from what I have read, thats not quite as simple as just swapping strings.

Be on the lookout for a survey invitation in you inbox from musiciansfriend. Took a 5 min survey today and will get a $10 gift certificate for my troubles.

SLAYERRRRRRRR

I cant play it but I love it...

I should have put some of the 557 hours I've put into destiny into rocksmith :(

For any iRig users here, the Amplitude app for both iPhone and iPad are free this week. I picked up an iRig not long ago but never got the apps because I thought they were too expensive.

what are some good resources for getting good tones out of the amps? i bought the engl powerball amp but can't find any websites that have settings listed (i have spent several hours and still can't get the tone i was expecting). the only websites i found through google are for desktop versions of amplitube and i'm pretty sure those amps are a little different (more knobs, etc).

i wish there was a krank amp i could buy. i used to have a few of their real amps+cabs and loved the tone.

Yeah, haven't seen much of anything worthwhile for Memorial Day sales.

Guitar Center sometimes does some unadvertised in-store sales, but nothing guaranteed.  They're flyer for this sale certainly sucked.

Only good thing I remember were instrument cables- 3pack for $16

And I think Sweetwater had 3packs of strings for $10

I have an interesting idea. I just received Rocksmith 1 (XBOX 360) from eBay so I could import the songs to my 2014 list (worked fine). Does anyone want to split the purchase with me and I can mail the disc to them? It's a cheap way to add 52 songs to your 2014 library. Then you can post here and split it with the next player, etc. It gets cheaper for the next guy each time we do it.

I think this is a good idea for people who only have Rocksmith 2014 because you can't just buy the RS1 disc without buying the complete bundle (which gives you a cable you already have). You won't need the disc ever again unless a new RS comes out and then you MIGHT need it. Then we could just pass it around again.

I bought it for $8, so whoever wants it from me pays $4 plus shipping. What do you guys think??
