Bestbuy has a separate, two week flier for music gear and they're advertising Rocksmith game bundle+ Epiphone guitar for $199.98 and you get a $50 giftcard with purchase of the game/guitar bundle.

Ad is a bit odd in that they only list sku's for the game bundle and standalone guitar (#2633103, 2633149, 2273055), so they may be doing in-store bundling. Plus they list the game + guitar bundle as a 10 savings over buying everything separate

Like I said before, seems like they are doing an in-store bundle instead of selling the official Rocksmith guitar kit. Won't know for sure until it's bought

I've heard bad things about the bridge on these models. Slips and the action cannot be set lower. Sounds like pain- literally- and they say it must be completely replaced to be lowered. It's also epiphone components mostly. Go with the entry epiphone if you just want a bang about.

Point is mute now that the prices went back up, but I would say these are worth the gamble at sub-$300.

It's "Made in the USA" which, surprise surprise... they cut corners on to come in this low.

But if you like it and are concerned about the bridge, swap it out for a Gotoh wraparound... and might as well add some locking tuners while you're at it. Takes care of the concerns and you'll still be under $500 (closer to 400).

The pups seem fine, even though there's still no clarification if these are Gibson's take on the Pro-bucker or rebadged Epiphone Pro-B's, which seems like an odd choice to me just because their other entry-level Gibson's this year were using double slug humbuckers.

Anyway, you gotta like the guitar before bothering with upgrades. Afterall, no point in polishing it if you'll always feel it's a turd .

I see a diamond in the rough, if you get it at the right price.

While not related to RS, I ended up buying the book Music Theory For the Bass Player by Ariane Cap today off Amazon.

Rocksmith teaches you songs but I stopped my bass playing for a bit because I always wanted to know the theory behind the songs but I haven't found a good resource for learning it. Hoping this will help so I can finally feel confident enough to upgrade my piece of crap bass. I eventually want to make my own music, but I want to learn theory so I have a better understanding on how music works.

You use a USB mic instead of the realtone cable and switch the RS software into Microphone mode.

Only downside is the loss of authentic tones during playthru's.

They also added in the option to have scrolling note mode... as in it shows you what to play but doesn't track/adjust to your playing (Disconnected Mode).  I really like the idea of this

So I took a break for about 6 months while moving. Pulled the axe out and my nickel plated pickups are corroded. Any recommendations on polish or anything to clean them up. Yes, I'm not very happy with myself for neglecting her like this

Im gonna say google and see what comes up on other forums.

I've used something in the past, but couldn't find the container and don't quite remember the brand.

It was basically wadded up cotton with the cleaner already applied to it.

Though, to be clear I've only used it on the frets and tuning pegs. Use painters tape to protect the good stuff and wipe the frets with the cotton. Then use a clean rag/towel to wipe off any excess and finally remove the tape.

If possible, remove the pickup covers when you try to clean them.

I bought my Taylor during last year's space bucks sale. Make damn sure you print out everything if you buy something during the sale, because I never got my codes. I had to take my receipt in to the store and he manually applied them (thats when I got my Blue Spark microphone).

Been so long since I did it that I'm not too sure.

Only thing I can think of is that you missed a step for the import to trigger.

This week's DLC is a collection of 5 Pearl Jam songs, but to me, it's pretty much the release of the greatest song of all-time, Yellow Ledbetter!  So far I haven't been crazy about the composition of it...but it's still Yellow Freakin Ledbetter.  For any PJ fans like myself, the whole bundle is well worth it.

I'm going to eventually break down and buy a used Fender Hot Rod amp when they have one of the GC bucks sales. The used prices are much more palatable than the new prices on those amps. I figure if it's labeled "excellent" condition, it isn't going to be far from new.

Came in yesterday, and it's pretty close to the advertised condition. Came with Seymour Duncan pups as well. Here it is with the Studio Deluxe.

I returned the SD, so here is the black one officially in the collection.
