Ad is a bit odd in that they only list sku's for the game bundle and standalone guitar (#2633103, 2633149, 2273055), so they may be doing in-store bundling. Plus they list the game + guitar bundle as a 10 savings over buying everything separate

Like I said before, seems like they are doing an in-store bundle instead of selling the official Rocksmith guitar kit. Won't know for sure until it's bought

UPDATE #2: deal is definitely an in-store bundle of standalone guitar + game bundle. Guitar is an Epiphone LP jr with a cherryburst finish and no strap or picks are included. Asked about substituting a different guitar model but bundle price won't activate if you switch it out

If past history is any indication, then you probably won't see this drop below $599, new. And that would likely happen next year, if there's still inventory.

Fairly consistent rule of thumb for Gibsons is as follows:

-max discount is around 40% off the initial street price

-but this tends to happen about 2 years after release and you're at the mercy of whatever inventory is left over.

So if you're really lusting after an SG with full-size humbuckers then do it now. Otherwise, wait to see what's behind Door#2 (and see if Sam Ash comes thru with some more Gibson closeouts).

The whole bankruptcy protection deal may screw all of this up, but I guess we'll find out soon enough if we see those big discounts next month.

Does a copy of Rocksmith need to be new, or can I buy a used copy for the console versions? I'd like to try this out, and I have a cable I picked up at a garage sale, but no game yet.

 
GS wouldn't take Rocksmith in on trades for the longest time.  Not sure if that's ever changed.

The game was just a shiny coaster if you didn't have a functioning RS cable.

At least now they patched in the option to turn off note tracking ( I swear I read they did that; hope I'm right, lol ).  I wonder if you can bypass the initial setup prompts without an RS cable.

I have the Xbox 360 version. Does that cable work across other platforms? Can I use the same cable on say Xbox one or PS4 if I get the games there or do I need a different cable as well? Bought this as a gift for my dad ages ago and now he's kind of beyond it, but I'm also kind of beyond Xbox 360

Is this about the cheapest this gets? I bought a Starcaster acoustic-electric years ago, inspired by my love of The Mountain Goats, but never learned to play it. I've heard this is a good way to learn. That actually true, or just bullshit?

It's a good way to learn certain songs and get used to note/chord placement. You won't magically know how to play a song you hear on the radio, and you probably won't write your own music.

OG Rocksmith isn't as good as Rocksmith 2014. You need the expensive Real Tone adapter to play any of them on a console. PC can use a patch and a cheap adapter plugged into line-in.

 
You can also use a mic with an acoustic if you don't have the RT cable.  Just do it.  Totally worth it.

I'd rather do it on a console, but apparently those cables are some real garbage too, tons of reviews on amazon saying they crap out after a few months. So that's cool

That's as low as I've ever seen for a new model (of any of these Duo-Sonics or Mustangs), so worth jumping on it if you like it.

Looking for some help with dlc problems. It’s been quite some time since I’ve played RS. I think tonight may have been the first time on my X. But everything I had was on an external drive and that external is plugged in to the new console. None of my dlc is showing up in the game now. If I go to the store and click on something I own I will get the message that I own it and can manage the item from my games and apps section on the Xbox. This is the message that you get when something IS installed, with the message saying you own this would you like to install it if you don’t have it installed. In addition to that, if I click on the game and go to manage games and add ons, I have a big old long list of things that are supposedly installed but don’t show up in the game.

Sucks man. Sounds like the licenses on the external HD didn't transfer correctly.

You went from an X1 to an X1X? Any issues with other stuff on the external?

Try MS support and see if they have an answer.

I had to do the same and there were a couple steps to get it moved over. But it eventually all worked.

Are you on the original version of Rocksmith or Rocksmith2014?

If you're on the original version, then you'll find that RS2014 is a big improvement over the original (though I do miss the Journey mode).

Only downside of going from the 360 version to PS4 version is the inability to transfer the original song list and any dlc you may have purchased on 360 over to the PS4.

But if you track down a PS3 version of the OG Rocksmith and set it up on a PS3, you could at least do the song transfer of the main song list.

As for the bundle, I can only think of two different things:

1- they're selling RS2014, along with the free update which makes it the "Remastered" version

or

2- they're bundling original Rocksmith song list with RS2014 (really doubt it's this since original Rocksmith was never on PS4).
