Bestbuy has a separate, two week flier for music gear and they're advertising Rocksmith game bundle+ Epiphone guitar for $199.98 and you get a $50 giftcard with purchase of the game/guitar bundle.

Ad is a bit odd in that they only list sku's for the game bundle and standalone guitar (#2633103, 2633149, 2273055), so they may be doing in-store bundling. Plus they list the game + guitar bundle as a 10 savings over buying everything separate

I'll let the musician CAGs speak to the quality of the guitar;)

Like I said before, seems like they are doing an in-store bundle instead of selling the official Rocksmith guitar kit. Won't know for sure until it's bought

UPDATE #2: deal is definitely an in-store bundle of standalone guitar + game bundle. Guitar is an Epiphone LP jr with a cherryburst finish and no strap or picks are included. Asked about substituting a different guitar model but bundle price won't activate if you switch it out

That Fender "Stupid" acoustic guitar has been their Stupid Guitar Deal for a few days now so I'm actually guessing it's going to be the same items up for a full week rather than changing daily, because they normally do one item daily rather than the multiple categories weekly that they're doing now. I'll check back tomorrow anyway to be sure.

Anyway I ordered one of those black The Instrument Store Legacy guitars for $60 yesterday before they jumped back up to $80. I know a couple people that bought woodwinds from The Instrument Store for school bands and liked them but this is their first (and so far only) venture into making guitars so it's still sort of a gamble I'm taking. I wouldn't mind doing some testing/answering questions on it when it gets here if anyone else is curious about it; just bear in mind I don't have any real guitar experience yet (and I'm still waiting on a deeper sale for Rocksmith for that matter).

Been lurking in this thread for a few weeks and finally pulled the trigger when the price hit $60 on Amazon. Picked up this Ibanez ART 420 at my local pawn shop:

Yeah, been trying to get a handle on guitar pricing. Near as I can tell MSRP is pure BS. 30-40% off MSRP is standard pricing. 50-60% off is a sale. And 65-75% off are the real deals.

This is kind of off-topic, but I finally got a chance to play Pro Guitar on RB3... and I have to say, the experience is far inferior to the Rocksmith one. Playing with muted strings is really off-putting, and being forced to use their (often asinine) fingerings on some songs really turned me off as well. On the plus side, though, my guitar seemed to work pretty well, with all frets registering, and only some detection issues on the high E string (which made that one arpeggiation achievement much harder than it really is).

I really hope Rocksmith can sell enough units and DLC to stick around, because it's really the superior product, and it's not even close.
 
Looks like they've sold about 750K based on VGChartZ. Doesn't seem like too bad of a number considering people are still waiting for PC and they don't have a ton of publicity.

I agree with you. I don't think those are bad numbers considering the lack of advertising and not being on PC yet.

I still love the game and tell everyone that I can to give it a try if they are interested learning guitar. It has helped me a lot.

I've been debating whether to cancel my $80 Dean XMT order with guitarcenter since it's backordered until mid-May. After reading the reviews for this legacy, 3 out of 4 reviewers have only 1 review and that's since Jan too. Seems like someone's trying to boost their reviews.

Nothing's been announced, but worse case scenario (hopefully), you get a port of the console version. Best case you get features not available in the console version.

Hey, if you have access to the Palladia channel, you can check out the Strat Pack concert that's on right now. Cool thing it that they do alot of close-ups on the guitarists hand movements.

Don't know about the rest of you, but that's something I've been paying more attention to ever since I started my playing

Truth be told if I could turn back time to I think it was around Black Friday I'd have picked up the Dean Vendetta too at $82.xx instead of sleeping on it and seeing it sold out the next day (have Amazon credit, didn't spend cash), because I think humbucking pickups sound better if nothing else. You're definitely right about the Vendetta being a known quality though given how many people in this thread alone talk about it; I just felt willing to take a random gamble for some reason lol
 
I got an update from Guitar Center for my b.o. dean xmt and they say it should ship within 30days thank god. It will still be almost 2 mos but that's better than 4 in May.

On a personal gloat, hit 50mil on Scale Runner. Averaged about 5mil per scale, except for the 5 fret scales (could barely break 2 mil on those). Huge diff from the last time I touched scales about two months ago. Used to only get 300k
Felt pretty good so tried a run at baseball. Ended up hitting over 2.1mil and if I saw it right, I think I broke into the top 10 scores:lol:. Not too hard to do since the scores are so low. Man, people really hate the baseball arcade game

quick question on Rocksmith..I have an Electric Acoustic Guitar, Will this game work with it? Also, I hear alot about the Lag with the Hdmi cable, any suggestions, thanks.,

A/E's work. They just may have a little feedback... and if it isn't a cutaway, you may not be able to reach frets 22 and 24 - and some songs use them.

The lag is substantial for some people, negligible for others. I use RS through headphones using an Xbox audio splitter that gives me a red/white RCA connection. I have NO lag.
 
If the game really does go to 24th fret, well, let's just say the Legacy Guitar that's been mentioned a couple times and that I ended up buying only has 21. Although I guess for me it won't be a big deal until I actually have the game, and play it enough to improve a lot; just putting it out there for those who want as much information before making a purchase.
 
My guitar has 24 frets but I don't think it has ever gone that low on any of my songs. Do you remember which ones they are RacerGuy? I'd be interested in playing those. Even in the ducks game, it didn't go below 20.
 
I think one of my mini games went over the 20th fret but I'm not sure. Is there anyway to erase progress on a single song short of starting over? I let my cousin play for 30 minutes (first time playing rocksmith but a great guitarist) and he mastered a song in mastermode.:hot: in 30 freaking minutes.......:hot::hot:

"Free Bird" goes to at least 22. I think there's one part of the solo where you play a few notes at the 24th fret...
 
I'm sure crazedracer has progressed much farther than me, but 21 fret guitars should be fine. Remember that the official pack-in guitar (LP jr) is a 22 fret guitar. And Freebird is the only song I remember going past the 19 fret. The Ducks minigame sometimes go to the 20th fret

Basically you may miss some notes. But it's not like you're living on those high frets. Most songs stay between the 3rd and 15th frets

IIRC, there's an option to reset the difficulty level in a song so you can work on an easier version of the song. But it won't reset the score to qualify the song in a Event. Though, don't know if things changed since the last game update. Maybe someone else can confirm

You can set the songs to show lowest difficulty achieved. It just takes it back to the starting notes. I would not be able to find many times when that might be helpful.

Well. Amazon's RS sale is pretty much done. Prices jumped to 75+

WMS added a couple more DBZ guitars to the sale. They now have the floyd rose trem models at $199 (but no deal on the case)

The red Barchetta is starting to tempt me . Someone over at HC posted real-world pic and really like the look. The 'puter pics don't do it justice; almost make it look plasticky. Which is why I wasn't too interested initially

Would hafta sell the XMT to justify it though. what to do. It's sorta like dumping your gf to date her hotter cousin
 
Well I just started playing the game on Sunday and I am loving it!! My fingers are in pain and so is my shoulder, but I really can't stop playing.
