RPG Thread IV is the worst in the series

Jeez, where is everyone? Anyway, making my way through Ch. 10 of Final Fantasy XIII and I'm really happy at what finally opens up.
All roles are opened up and available got each character!
When I say bad anime I don't mean like, the guy is surrounded by lots of chicks and for some reason, doesn't want to do all of them.
Yeah, that's just kind of how Japanese characters are. If it were American developed the main guy would be dodging having to pay child support on the 3 kids he has with each female lead.

I can't remember what chapter I'm in on FFXIII. Work has taken over and I haven't played in a few days. I'm still enjoying playing quite a bit and will probab;y put some time on tonight.

So I'm working through Persona 4 and I'm really liking it so far. This must be what players in high school had to deal with. There isn't enough time in the day for all my "ladies".

Yeah, but
They're rediculously overpriced to the point where there is ZERO point, since even if you had the patience to farm enough CP to afford the crystarium spots, they'd still be worse at that job than someone who has it as a native role

Some folks are completist. They wanna be 100%. Like one of my best friends who will play a game 40 hours past where it was fun just to get all the 360 APs.

I tend to lose interest before I get irritated with a game.

Hey, who am I to judge. I completed everyones fucking sphere grid in FFX. 140 hours, wtf was wrong with me. I'd KILL for that kinda free time I had back then...

free time!!! I dont have it!!

I play like half an hour of Devil Survivor every nite before falling asleep... then I go to work and listen to podcasts and everyone is like pokemon this pokemon that pokemon pokemon pokemon!!

and Im like dammit pokemon stop tempting me!! I dont have time for you and am committed to my Devil Survivor...

but then it's still like pokemon pokemon everything pokewalker and Im like aaaaaaahhhhhh!!!

and now Strange Journey is out too!!!

I think Ima kill someone for spare time!!! zmonkey prepare to DIE!!!

Why MEEEeeeee!!! If it's like an entropy exchange, you'll actually have less free time after you kill me! (I too am currently rocking the half hour of gaming till I fall asleep with the controller in hand... sigh)

Lolol, I'm with you on that. I work all day, drag into my house at around 8:30-9pm. All I want is to put some time into FFXIII or play one game of NHL10 and further my be a pro campaign, but I usually end up turning the PS3 on, then forgetting and climbing into bed or falling asleep in the bath tub, lol.

And no kidding...I did the same, loved FFX...It feels like not 2 years ago I had all the time to play in the world.

I am now Level 16 in RoF, start of Chapter 4, and I still have no idea what's going on.

At one point I spent all my money on clothes. It sure is fun to play dress up!

Anyone have any recommendations for some RPG type podcasts?

I listen to RPG Cast and Active Time Babble. I tried listening to the other podcast on RPGamer that just started back up but I couldn't stand it. I don't have a personal vendetta against the host or anything but there was so much dead air and the other two people on the podcast seemed very relucant to speak about anything for longer than a sentence. Also, I got tired of him saying "And what not" every minute.

For some dumb reason I got SO4 from amazon the other day. I'll try it out when I actually have the time(FF13 comes first). But I will say that I probably should have gotten Deadly Premonition instead.
Very Disgaea-like.
Shocking.

I should get back to that game some day... but I probably won't

Im at work today jus doing work and listenening to ipod when the podcast started talking about pokemon and I was like nooooooooooooooooooo~~~!!!

I was gonna break down and pick it up at the end of the month... coz Id be in a new budget cycle and it's give me like some time to get further in devil survivor.

now Ima get it and the end of the week o_O

Hey Jekki. Ya know what's a fun game? Pokemon SoulSilver. But fuck that HeartGold bullshit. Ho-Ho's ugly as hell... (at least that's how I decided between them back in the GBC days)

:p

This just in from 2008: Disgaea 3 has, apparently, $55 in DLC.. only $12 of which gives you actual new content..

I'm not THAT hard up for characters from the old games... I'll admit I am annoyed that they seemed to strip out the bonus content you got in pretty much every other NIS title but La Pucelle Tactics (which was their first one, I believe) just to sell it to us.

Bad, NIS, BAD...!

I agree, SoulSilver FTW!! HAHA.

If you only buy one game, getting the least popular copy is the most logical, so Gold FTW.

If we assumed that silver sold twice as well as gold, and also assume that a similar percentage of silver and gold purchasers post their Pokemon for trade online, then there would be a higher percentage of the silver-unique pokemon, and a demand for the gold-unique pokemon.

In the pokemon supply and demand world, Gold is the prudent choice.

...

Ho-Ho *is* ugly as hell, though.

Finally got tired of FFXIII and picked Ys back up. Think I'll finally finish it tonight.

EDIT: Yep just finished it. Lovely game

Ima wear that shyt on my neck too... coz who the fukk rocks a silver chain?!?!

Resonance of Fate seems to be getting a lot of good user reviews. I really need to get caught up on other stuff before I start it, but my patience is growing thin.
Yeah, eager to play my copy of RoF. I'm near the end of FFXIII. BTW how many chapters long is FFXIII?
13 chapters

13 Chapters total, however Chapter 11-13 are supposedly te longest of them all. I only got to Chapter 11 myself, and the world is immense.

SMT Strange Journey is good so far. The only other SMT games I've played are Persona 3 FES, Persona 4, and Nocturne. Strange Journey more like Nocturne, in that you recruit demons to join you and you choose from a pool of these recruited demons to join you in your active party. The exploration is just like Etrian Odyssey, but without the self-mapping bits (the map is made for you as you go). The story and setting is interesting, but the character dialog is terrible. There are a lot of dialog choices, but so far your choices don't really effect the story so much as it effects your character building (alignment, demon recruiting, etc) but I'm unsure if it effects the ending or not or whether there are multiple endings like some other SMT games I've played.

Me! :bomb:

Oh man, Pokemon Snap was the best!! I remember I had all the locations of the Pokemon memorized, but now I cant remember shyt.

I was so glad when Pokemon Snap came out for Virtual Console, it was one of the reasons why I missed my N64. They need to make another Snap game.

lol, I too loved Snap! Was disappointed with how short the fucking game was, as I spent way too much of my meager allowance on it at the time, but damn if it wasn't fun. I'd love a sequel, hell, even a Wiiware sequel, with expanded gameplay and more pokemon to interact with.

I picked up a N64 a year or so ago with Pokemon snap. As kids, my sister and I loved that game.

She came over to visit not long after I got it, and we played through the entire game from scratch. it was a lot of fun. If they released another pokemon snap game, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Arc Rise looks intresting. I'll probably end up getting it. I'm still debating if I should get Sakura Wars or not this coming week. Reviews seem mediocre at best.

Arc Rise is only selling for $39.99 so I figured it looks pretty good, probably worth it. I originally had Sakura Wars pre-ordered but I canceled it, just didn't seem like something I would play right now. I don't mind dating sims, but it's hard to get into one when your a girl trying to get your MC to date a girl.

Speaking of dating sims Atlus confirmed a new Persona is in the works. PS3 is likely console. If this is true finally will have to buy a PS3.

yeay rite, Atlus doesnt have money... P5 is gonna be a monster hunter clone, and that's a fact!!

Set in an alternate universe New York City during the late 1920s, the game's storyline focuses on a naval ensign, Shinjiro Taiga, as he is summoned from Japan to New York to lead a fighting troupe disguised as a musical troupe to defeat an evil warlord and his subordinates from conquering America as its kingdom.

that description is HILARIOUS. I wasnt gonna buy the game on day 1, but that pushed me over the pre-order edge.

sakura wars will have a very welcoming place into my rpg backlog of darkness

I hope it's not the same as P3 and P4. As much as I liked those games (and I liked 'em a lot), I'm more than ready to see them move on to something new. Or to go back to a Persona 2-style game.

Why not a sequel to Nocturne though? I just ordered Valkyria Chronicles from Amazon and I'll be picking up a PS3 soon. I can't wait to try it out.

Sorry, not with ya on that one. I'd like to see them continue this current formula. It's about the only innovative idea to come from the JRPG genre in the last several years. If they make it like a more traditional style RPG it's like taking a step back. But who knows, maybe a mixture of both would be a good idea too.

I guess I'd just like to see more exploration... like if there were multiple towns or something more than a straight-up dungeon crawl. I think my ideal Persona game would be SMT Nocturne + P4 dating sim/school life.

I'll be highly disappointed if it is not on the PS3. I'm getting tired of all these releases on the portable systems. I have a PSP and a DS, but I'd like SMT to give the PS3 some attention too.

I'll also be disappointed if Persona 5 isn't on a console. As much as I liked P4, it was too much like P3 in too many ways, so I do also hope they mix something new into it.
