RPG Thread XVII - Talk of RPGs past.

I believe I had turbo graphics and a nintendo. I dont know which came first.
I also remember Mashin Hero Wataru.
But when we talk about first games, i cant help but think Super Mario Brothers.
So before PayPal, Kickstarter, and Amazon fees, Project Eternity took in $4,311,600. A fairly recent interview recently said that about a tenth of a percent of the donations didn't go through, which... was a lot better than I expected.
Holy crap Project Eternity better be good...

Do you like our latest creation? We certainly hope so! :) You may remember that we sometimes send you guys secret messages like this. It's a great way for us to speak right to you instead of burying ourselves in corporate mumbo jumbo, so let's begin!
First of all--have you noticed all the details in our teaser (Yes, it's a teaser. We'll make a proper trailer in the future)? If you know the Cyberpunk setting, there are some things you can spot, like implants--look for the weapon hands and the real skin -- corporate emblems that should look familiar, and more. Happy hunting!
You're probably curious about the release. It's currently scheduled a way off in 20(14,15,16?) but in truth the delivery date is more like "when it's done". We will release Cyberpunk to you when we're convinced it is nothing but pure, refined, unadulterated awesome. We want it to be the most kick ass futuristic RPG ever-- OK, maybe this sounds pretty bully, but it is our actual goal! You judge if we deliver it!
Oh--And you may wonder why we announced our game so early before the release. The reason is that we're still building our Dev team, so if you are a talented dude or dudette, willing to work in a really different company (gamers rule & boring corporate stuff drools) on a single ambitious project, send us your application right now! [email protected]
So, you want to know what kind of game Cyberpunk 2077 will be? The short description is that it will be a story-heavy, nonlinear, open world RPG based on the well known Cyberpunk pen&paper system and setting. Building open world games is something we are mastering right now, and we believe (misspelled in trailer, heh) that properly joining nonlinear gameplay with an excellent story telling will bring a totally new quality. Hmm.. we'll tell some more about it soon!
And that's not all that's new, we are about to reveal our other project, which is much closer to being completed and yes, it will also be a fully open-world game with an intense story. You can probably guess the game we're talking about - on the 5th of February it will all be clear.
So stay tuned as we will have quite a lot to show and tell you soon!
We are waiting for you on our newly created forum called afterlife--what other name could we have chosen for it? :)
CD Project Red Team

Oh you crazy Polish you! So Feb 5th we get Witcher 3?!

I'm a huge fan of Cyberpunk sci-fi (Stephenson, Gibson, etc) so I am sure I will enjoy Cyberpunk 2077.

Also, Torchlight II is awesome. Outlander all day.

I'm assuming you're using Glaive, or low leveled =P
I'm either level 19 or 20, and mostly use Glaive or the split shadow shot.
Yea, that's my major gripe. In Torchlight 1, you could have rolled an outlander and used bows/guns and be effective, instead of making the outlander a caster.

screw Outlander, Engineer is where it's at. Pets+brawler=awesome. Though the game has an annoying habbit of giving me legendaries for every class other than whatever I'm playing. Got 1 unique item once... 'lander gear. fuuuuuuuu

Luckily my buddy mains an Outlander and gets tons of good Engineer loot, so trades are easy :D

Gods I'd kill for an expansion for TL2...

I've read that article before; it is a good 'un... well, aside from the use of an example from Appleseed that features questionable anatomy.

All he really says is that female armor needs to be more practical and not absurd. Which is kind of the consensus for those who care, right?

I don't know why I thought I would get anything different when I clicked to read it.

Unrelated to the above article (which I can't really find anything to comment on although, yeah, boobsandassposelol), I would just like to state that one dude with a fire axe and a bunch of rad-x > Vault 34 and its ten billion feral glowing ones.

I would also like to state that Ed-E is a fucking asshole for setting off all those gas leaks while I was in the middle of the melee.

when i think of ed-e i think of that cop in final fight.

as for practical armor i don't care, i just want my characters to look badass, and if it means scantily clad then so be it. but sometimes it's ugly, that last tera design i have problems with but that ragnarok paladin is kinda cute
Explain what that is cuz I don't want to google.
ff4/ff5-style rpg on iOS/android

made by the same guys who did the ff4 after years game

it's much better since they had hardware that's better to work with, remember that ff4 after years was made for cellphones and then ported to wii/psp. it still feels like ff4 after years in terms of pacing, it's really linear, but it's still fun and the battle system is much better.

Are we talking the 5-man character system of IV or the 4-man job system of V? What's the price on this?

I'm going to have several hours to kill between classes and since my PSP is still dead until I can find the charger for it, The After Years is on hold so I might just play this instead.

5-man and it's $20 for all four chapters:

art style doesn't really show up in game. in game it's more like an hd version of ff6 with ff4/ff5 style sprites. or something.

i'm playing it on my cell phone, a galaxy s1.

oh yeah, games on my cellphone burn through battery like crazy... probably get 2-3 hours uncharged

Started playing TitS and the combat is pretty fun. Still only about an hour in. This is going to take awhile.

About 15 hours into Xenoblade Chronicles. Man, there are so many side quests in this damn game. I did the chain for some stupid rabbit looking thing that was feeling sick and it was very tedious. Rabbit, you ain't going to help me kill robots, so leave me alone. Kind of wish I could get myself a new weapon for Shulk. Red is overrated.

I don't understand why the girl in that image isn't scene.

I think I'm starting to get bored of DA:O. Maybe it's because I'm a overpowered mage, but the combat is just becoming a rinse and repeat thing inside of the looooooooooooooongest dungeons ever. And I really don't have any incentive to get through them for the next story piece cuz I'm already seen it all.

I'll finish it though, as I do want a save file to transfer into DAII for another playthrough of that. I popped it in for a little bit earlier today and man does that combat look better. Just aesthetically speaking. Much faster too. Everyone knows the general consensus of that game, but I think I enjoy it better than the first, reused dungeons and all.

They are fuckin long. There's a random dude you have to kill in Denerim for a random sidequest, so you go into this house and 40 fuckin rooms later you're casting Walking Bomb and watching him blow up.

I'm about to head into the Deep Roads.

I am not looking forward to head into the Deep Roads.
You are dead to me.
And you're Canadian.
I told myself that a long time ago.
You told yourself that you were dead to yourself?

That's deep.

Deep Roads.
But I like the combat in DA2.
And we're all very proud of you; it takes a lot of inner strength to admit something like that.
deep roads were the worst part of the game, or at least second to the netherworld thing.
The Fade, you mean? It was probably the most interesting concept of all the game's dungeons, but its execution was... eh. Being a golem was really cool until I got into a fight and realized I couldn't hit a fucking thing. Have fun waiting for the "throw rock" cooldown to end.

Didn't you make a string of long winded post about DA2 a while back?

Or was that ME3?

What's your deal with Bioware?

In-depth essay on your deal with Bioware plz

I've done long-winded strings on lots of things. But "guy who complains about a videogame" is a pretty lame fucking niche, so I've been trying to cut down on that. Especially for easy targets.
when i saw da:eek: i thought it was dark age of camelot for some reason

dark age: of
Back when Red Dead Redemption was A Thing, it took me way too long to realize that RDR wasn't River Ditty Ransom.

Isn't "Guy who is Canadian" a lamer niche?

I think "Guy who calls Canadian Guy Canadian" is pretty worn out and most of the time very trying, but I can't help myself.

I am what I am.

...

Anyway, working through Dead Money right now. Can't believe the "shut the fuck up, companions" mod doesn't have more downloads. They are way worse than Follows Chalk in Honest Hearts.
