RPG Thread XVII - Talk of RPGs past.

it has a terrible name, that's for sure

the only thing i remember is watching my friend play and spamming the heal, and the annoying voices that would follow

also i could tell the stereotype of each character based on how they look

Someone at Square has a huge fetish for women with white hair. Also, rumour has it the game's not getting a release outside of Japan.

Oh Gross! A girl covered and in blood! And look how she's dressed! and her arm and dragons and and typical male power fantasy ugh so nasty and tail is clearly a penis uggi feminism.

But I want it!
Some of the early screenshots of the game look fucking godawful, by the way.
But, to be fair, they do look like they came from a Cavia game!

Cavia has only ever made great things.

It's weird, cuz that's a game that I would expect you to like.

But maybe it's because there are people who actually like it that you can't bring yourself to, cuz who would you be trolling then?

Oh. People like it for dumb reasons so I don't.

Also I haven't played it.
You know what?

Infinite Undiscovery was alright.
Lies!

(goes back to playing Tales of Symphonia 2 and thus opinions can be ignored...)

One of my favorite parts of IU is when Capell decides to go evil and use the people around him and writes about it in his journal but then nothing ever comes of it.

Missed opportunity.

I'm at the
Absorption Gate
in Tales of the Abyss. This damned place needs more save points! Hell, any save points; I'm still early in from what I can tell, but it's annoying that I haven't seen one yet.

I also like how I was forced to find the place  Maybe its location was mentioned somewhere in the story, but I can't find it by scanning the synopses.
My favorite part of IU was trading it in with Blue Dragon and getting Lost Odyssey.
My favorite part of IU is your dislike of it.

Valkyria Chronicles has fuck ton of cutscenes.

square also has a fetish for g-strings
How else is she going to hold her underwear up with her hips?

That's what those are for, right?

I actually like that, since I am one of the people that actually enjoyed X-2. Mostly for the music and Paine. I would love to have Blitzball online, but I got enough of that shit back in the day getting Wakka's ultimate weapon. For me, that was far more annoying than trying to get Lulu's ultimate weapon.
From the creators of Bastion, it's... Bastion except with cyberpunk.

I'm in.
I didn't care for Bastion. I mean the game was fun for a point but
I got maybe halfway through the game but lost interest after all it started to be was oh look evil guy came, collect more items.
If they fix that and add in more of a story, I am all for it.

I never played FFX-2. Now I will get a chance to which is great.

The dungeons and battles are finally getting difficult in Persona 2. I'm having to stock up on healing items.

And fight the enemy once to gain levels, and then a second encounter with conversation to gain cards.

i find it funny that g-string in japanese is "t-back"

it's like they're both descriptive in their own special ways

Man fuck those thunder plains. Actually, fuck getting most of the ultimate weapons. Did that on my first play and never bothered when replaying. (and fuck the inevitable Trophy for getting all ultimate weapons making me do it all over again :D )

Also that not-Bastion looks really nice.

Unfortunately for me, the addition of X-2 to FFX HD means a MSRP hike. Doubt I'll buy it on release now.

Also, when did Lightning become a blonde?

I just completed a play through of Fable 2. Know it's old, but I got it for under $5 from gamestop. Is the dlc worth it?

I still need to get some Mass Effect 3 dlc. I think I still need leviathan, Omega, and the final Citadel one. Is the Citadel one worth it? I watched leviathan and thought that one really should have been included with the game.

I threw in Infinite Undiscovery earlier.

Seriously guys, that game is alright. I might go for that 1pt achievement. I only need to do like three more playthroughs or something stupid.

I wasn't too hyped about the FFX HD remaster, but if the rumor is true, it has caused me to smile. I was only wanting 2 things from it: inclusion of FFX-2 and making each the international versions. If those conditions are met, its a day-1 purchase. Otherwise, I wait for a price drop.

In all seriousness, I had more fun playing X-2 than X.

Would I play through FF X and X-2 again? Maybe. I loved FFX. It's really hard for me to justify going back for a replay when there's so much new I haven't touched yet.

Now if someone legit would make a Kickstarter for a new Buck Rogers RPG, I think I would explode with excitement.

The goldbox original was great for its time, but it feels very archaic now. The Genesis version is excellent (aside from the sound effects), but it had less content all around.

I hated Blitzball in FFX, so I didn't play any more than was necessary. It was a bit more palatable in X-2, but I still didn't spend a lot of time with it.
I go against the grain and say that FFX was overrated. The characters sucked, Blitzball sucked.
I've been saying that forever.

The first two things, not that last thing.
How many of you played more Blitzball than the actual game?
:D

I played a ton of blitzball, not more than the actual amazing game, though. Did I enjoy Blitzball? A little bit, and a hell of a lot more than previous FF mini-games. Then again, I needed to get dat Wakka legendary weapon and all of his overdrives, which pretty much turned that dude into Auron with a beachball.

I played soo much blitzball that if SE made a blitzball stand alone game, I would have picked it up day one.

But maybe not now...

played sooo much blitz ball. it was fun recruiting Brother and letting him swim circles, literally, around the ronso team. I never got that jecht 2 shot though. Not like you needed it.

My one and only playthru of FFX was kinda fast. I didn't do any sidequests and just flew thru it to the end. Only spent as much time as necessary on blitzball, and really didn't much care for it.

I am kinda hyped for Might & Magic X. I spent so much time on M&M VI and VII years ago I'm almost ashamed.
