Saints Row Official Thread (New map available for download)

Hope the demo hits Live tomorrow, I sold mine on Ebay since i'm a whore......

How bout Honkey Nigger CAG for a name?

edit: lol word filter killed it

Have they said anything about how the gangs will work? I'm sure it won't be as good as Halo 2's, hopefully its somewhat similar.
set up a poll for the CAG gang name and let's go from there
There should be a suggestion thread first.
98% of the suggestions are as white as can be.
Then I guess it's settled our gang will be called "kill whitey"

Not all of us are white but I figured suggestions should appeal to the white audience.

Looking forward to trying the demo. How similar is this to GTA? And what is the reason for the m rating? I could get it if it was mostly violence and language but if theres hookers and "hot coffee" i cant. Thanks for the help.

fuck, I finally get my mag on Saturday and get to play it today and it's up on XBLM tomorrow probably. That sucks. Oh well, the demo is fun as hell. I'm buying it for sure.

Is the marketplace demo the exact same one? I would love to try out multiplayer before the game ships.

No... Im just under 18 and therefore cant purchase any game i want because i have responsible parents that moniter what games i play and decide what i can get based on the content. I do own some m rated games (halo, halo 2, half life 2, counter strike, etc).

..so basically, you own the M rated games that should be rated T.
whatever, the point is my parents want to know whats in the game before i buy it. I dont see how thats a bad thing.
I see Jack Thompon has gotten to your parents.......and it seems like he got to you also...
So violence is ok, but hookers are a no go?
That's parenting at its best.

Violence is ok but sex is definitely not... that sure makes sense.

Do they check because they actually care to know about the content of the game? Or are they just worried you'll bring home something narty and go on a killing spree?

My favorite thing to do in the demo so far is to get up to speed and get into a head on crash. Not sure what makes the difference but if you do it just right not only do the other people fly through their windshield but so do you.
5% so far.

I can't wait.

I'm so glad I didn't waste my money on OXM a week ago.
COuld have plunked $5 down on the game at EBGames or GStop and gotten the demo, then canceled said pre-order and get your $5 back.

That's what I did (although I'm not sure if I'm going to cancel), and I'm glad I did. I don't know about all of you, but I keep running out of hard drive space.

I actually own the OXM and I plan on D/L'ing the demo. I like to have them on my HDD. I usually delete most of the demos after I don't play them. I think I have Lost Planet, Table Tennis and possibly Battlefield or something else.

Still have 7+GB of space left.

There won't be any "Hot Coffee" at all. The industry learned it's lesson with that one.

Personally, I think this game is going to turn out great, as long as some of the quirks that are in the demo don't make it into the final version of the game. I'm talking about the disappearing cop cars, and the horrible screen tearing during cutscenes.

If you don't know what I'm talking about with the cop cars, try causing as much trouble as possible, and kill as many cops as possible. As soon as 3 or 4 cop cars start coming onto the screen, and you kill the cops, those cars just disappear, so that more cop cars can come. It's almost like the game has a limit of 4 cop cars on screen, once that is reached, they disappear, and new ones come.

I'm actually noticing some screen tearing outside of the cutscenes, but you've really got to squint to notice it.

I never noticed that before. I guess it is because I only cause mass problems after the final mission event and before I dropoff Huggybear and White Mike. Then I just pipebomb the hell out of all cars and no cops show up usually.

Speaking of pipebombs, anyone have any fun with them in the game? I like seeing how far I can launch stuff with them. Or blowing up the clerks in the stores. I just open the door and throw two in.

The more I play, the more the screen tearing is apparent, espically when I drive. Nobody else seemed to notice this on the demo disc, so maybe its a problem downloading it through XBL?

Yea I'm getting major v-sync issues as well. It is about as bad as Blazing Angels.

The demo discs have tearing issues, as well. Go in the plastic surgeon's office and stand in front of the window blinds in the lobby, and jerk the camera left and right... it looks terrible.

Of course, it does that anywhere else in the game, but it stands out because of the way the blinds are textured.

I hope they clean that up before it's release -- even if they don't, I can live with that.

Good... glad I'm not the only one. I've going to assume it's because we downloaded it off Live that it's doing this, and that it won't be there in the retail version.

I really like all the small touches in this game, like if you stand in front of a car the car will go around you.

EDIT: Read your post Brak, and bah, I hope they fix that. I've gotten somewhat used to them but it's still annoying and really shouldn't be happening at all.

Not a bad game. How good the online is will have a lot to do with its overall value. Best improvement over GTA for me is the aiming.

The graphics are ok but don't look much above an XBox game. The slowdown seems to be cleaned up a bit from the E3 videos we saw, but it still shows up once in a while.

Not sold on it, but if multiplayer turns out great I'll strongly consider it.

I noticed the v-sync issues when I first played it too. It's not enough to keep me from buying it if they don't fix it, but there is really no reason it should ship like that. I'm hoping the fact that they do these demos "months in advance" works to our advantage this time and they've fixed the issue since the demo build.

 the only reason why I like this game so far is because it's the first game I've ever gotten to play that actually replicates obesity very well in the character creation. I made my character a huge 400 pounder with a face only an ogre could love. I just love watching him in cutscenes and animation, it cracks the hell up out of me. Other than that the game is impresive, but not my type. It trys to be a little too gangster for my tastes. Good for those who like that stuff though.
I will say it was cool to hear the guy who did the voice for The Arbiter in Halo 2 say "nigger".
