Saints Row Official Thread (New map available for download)

Anyone who got it at Best Buy, did they take down any of your info or anything, since this is supposed to be a pre-order and everything. All they did was take down my phone number (Standard at BB now isnt it?) and asked if I wanted a $3 warranty.
your point is?

Anyway I was playing this demo yesterday and everyone on my friends list was sending me messages, and voice chats. Wanting to know where I got the demo from. Luckly my headset broke, oh wait
Pratt75 said that this person wished that there was blood in the demo and i was just saying the demo i got fromBBhad blood in it.......

When i preordered it at BB the lady told me they keep the amount of the games preordered in the back of the store and just bring in your receipt in to customer service the day they get in stock and they will do the transaction there. On your receipt it says Saints Row Presell.
That video looked sweet. In a preview I read and the video both stated there are 4 online modes, but the "making of" movie on the demo disc says there are 8.
Listen closely and the guy says they had 4 online modes to play...so there still could be 8. In the making of it looked like the one mode was some type of destruction derby.

I went in to EB today and asked if they had the demo disc available. Of course its for pre-orders only so I cancelled my Dead Rising pre-order, moved it to Saint's Row and got my handy dandy pre-order bonus disc. Now when Dead Rising comes out I'll just cancel my Saint's Row preorder and use that money on Dead Rising.

The game is really fun. I love the car explosions. I'm a little disappointed that there isn't a lock-on like in GTA but its not too bad. This game is basically next-gen GTA:SA, that's not really that bad but it just doesn't do anything new that I see. I'll probably be picking it up still though.

More like a next-gen GTA III or Vice City, I'd say. There are some hints of San Andreas in there, aside from the gangsta feel, though.

I think one of the shortcomings of Saint's Row is that it doesn't appear to be funny, so far. There are some moments that try to be funny (like civilian dialogue) -- but it comes out too forced, and flops.

One of the reasons GTA is terrific is because of how tongue-in-cheek and referential it is.

I guess you have to make your own funny moments.

Like this one big guy came up to me and said, "Shit, my sister is more gangsta then you!" So I whacked him with a bat and he ran off yelling like a girl. I laughed.

So is anyone using the theme that came with the demo? I actually really like it for some reason...must be the colors.

Well it does have the gang recruitment and territory thing which was one of the bigger changes to San Andreas.

One thing it definetly has over GTA is the explodable gas pumps.

So is it horribly violent like The Punisher (another Volition game)? Since it's not humorous like GTA games, I'm at least hoping that it's terribly, un-godly violent to compensate for it's lack of humor/satire/social commentary.

I bought a gun at the gun store and then held up the owner.. he said "Man, didn't I just sell you that damn thing!?".. I thought that was funny.

Yea I love that line.
My one big gripe...I wish there were bikes, planes and boats to drive.
They said that in the "Next Saint's Row" all of those should be an option.

darn, this isn't the same Demo as during E3. the One at E3 had full customizeability and more weapons. Still great to show people the potential of this game. One good thing about this game is that the pedestrians have varying speeds. It seems though that they took out the old ladies in walkers. Hopefully they put those damn cripples in the full game for full enjoyment.

Keep looking...they're there...I've killed my share of them

Damn good to hear. I saw some ladies that looked like the ladies in walkers that i've seen in previous trailers. I thought they might have edited the walkers out since... well u know how stupid parents can be =p.

My biggest 2 beefs with the control so far is the weapon switching is a bit iffy. And that they really should have used he triggers for accelleration. Hopefully you'll be able to chance controls to that in the final.

Got my OXM today and played the demo. I really enjoyed it. Had a ton of fun making people fly in and out of my car through a broken windshield.

Yeah :D. In fact I was in a convertible today and the person flew out of thier windshield and into my backseat. Great times.

Who says theres not? You are just playing a demo, hope this isnt 100% true but it has online, which IMO is the greatest single thing about it
Who says theres not? You are just playing a demo
I'll have to dig up the quote from somewhere, but they said something like they ran out of time before they could ad them.

And I agree with you about the online thing. I'd take protect the pimp over having a bike any day. Lets hope the level design in multiplayer is good!

They did.

Wow, they ran out of time? This game got pushed back so much, too

I don't care about planes or boats, it'll be weird not having motorcycles though.

I believe the original response was they ran out of room on the DVD for that stuff, but then they kind of retracted that and said they were being cut due to time restraints.

They'll probably release them on XBLM. Its a trap!

Why not add as D/L content ;) Motorcycles and Boats....I wouldn't put it past them. That would be interesting though. I wonder how they can implement something like that.

Wow, beat me to it.

Well, they have to save SOMETHING for the sequel ;)

One hit kills from a "Pimp Slap" - this is probably worth the price of the game alone. It really looks like fun - I hope it is.

I wonder how many people will get their Juggernaut on and say, "Pimp slap yo ASS... bitch!"

Got the demo yesterday in the mail...God this game blows...If you thought True Crime was generic, this is worse...This has some of the corniest characters ever in a videogame...My advice would be to wait a year until it's 9.99, then buy it...I wasn't expecting much, so I'm not really dissappointed...

Ok and IMO, this is leaps and bounds better than True Crime LA...I never played NY. I thought True Crime was clunky, and I hate being the "bad" cop. This game takes what was fun about GTA, and ads little touches to it, which = good in my book.

picked up the demo at work today (gamecrazy) I started playing on our xbox 360 in the store and then I had to go ring up some games I look back over and this kid who most have been like 11 was sitting playing through the snatch mission. I just got done playing it for about an hour and the only problem I had was that after I took out all the people at the brawl it went to black and froxe up, I couldn't even go to the dashboard, other then that I like how you can get better weapons by killing people after about 10 mins I had a revolver, a bat, a nightstick, some pipebombs, and a shotgun.

Finally got my copy of the demo, and all I have to say is wow. Good graphics, awesome shadowing, hilarious characters, and I love the hold-ups, character interactions, and feel to the whole game. I hope they let you customize the controls, though, cuz I'd change up the driving controls and a couple other things though. Overall, I'd give it an 8.5 minimum..very fun game.

Where can you find pipebombs? A gangmember threw one at me one time but that was the only time I've seen it, and he didn't leave any for me when I killed him.

I didn't like GTA or True Crime, but this game is awesome.

Hmm i wonder how the 11 yr old like the muthafooker and snatch and other curse words that go off all through the demo...lol

Are you looking for Pacino or Deniro? It IS a VideoGame....corny characters are ok. It's an OVER-THE-TOP violent game....the game played great IMO. I only played through once, but I will try the demo again.

Glad I have it pre-ordered

Ugh... 3 more days until this is on the marketplace.

I just wish they'd release it already.

I don't want to deal with preordering and then cancelling a preorder or buying a magazine I'll never read.

Preordered Smackdown vs Raw 07 from Gamestop today and the dude let me have a Saint's Row demo. I liked what I saw from about 30 min of play. Only complaint is that when you're driving and do a quick 180, the camera takes about 2-4 seconds to switch back to behind your car. Too long if you gotta make a quick getaway.

I wasnt expecting much from SR but looks like I'll pick it up on day 1 after playing the demo.

First thing I did when I got the demo was found a cop car and then got it stuck in the Demo Wall O'Doom! It was sweet. I went ahead and pre-ordered the game from overstock and will cancel if I don't have the money for it. I hope I do. I really enjoyed the demo and am going to be playing it more after I finish watching Office Space.
