The old Sears clearance thread was almost a year old, so I've taken the liberty of creating this one. I went back and wrote down the drops and lowest reported prices so far for all of 2007. The games may ring up more or less for you as prices are YMMV (your mileage may vary). The games should ring up at some sort of clearance price at every Sears store that carries games. They may not be tagged on clearance at your store, so you should have them scanned to find out what they ring up as. My local Sears rarely tags the clearance games, so I have to refer to this list. Games drop out of the system about a month after they hit $0.97.

Some clearance games at Sears were restocked over the holidays with new UPC stickers over the original UPC. These are ringing up $9.99-$19.99 as marked for now.

These prices are good at Sears, Sears Essentials, and Sears Grand stores.

Lowest reported prices (games may ring up less or more at your store):

If you have a new game or lower price to list, post it here and I'll update the OP periodically. Even if a game is only a few dollars off, please report it here. The price WILL drop on a regular basis. When reporting a price, please give us the game title AND system.

Here's a link to the old thread: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=103736

In my experience, the list of clearance games at Sears isn't YMMV, but the specific clearance prices are (prices drop at different speeds at different stores. Also, people keep complaining that the clearance games are ringing up $15-20 at their stores. If they would actually read this post, they'd know that's because those are restocked holiday games with new UPC tags. The old stock of those games should still ring up on clearance if you can find them.

And because people can't read, I'll say it again:

PRICES ARE ALL YMMV!
PRICES ARE ALL YMMV!
PRICES ARE ALL YMMV!

I work at sears and looked up the sears number for the core system it is clearance at $209.97 I believe the stock number is division 58, stock 91045 or 91055 (can't remember not at work now). Our store is out but if you want to just call other stores and they'll look it up for you instead of going in and making sure.
All the Sears I go to are out, even the ones I remember seeing with cores. I'm wondering if they got sent out of the stores.
I have only ever seen the Sears stores here in Indy get in one of these at a time if they had them at all. My guess is that they sold to an employee as soon as the clearance tag went on there. I've been in electronics before when employees were marking down stuff like digital cameras. Employees from other departments were dropping by on their breaks to see the deals and buy stuff. I know when I worked at a department store, I made sure I got in on any good clearances as one of the perks of working there.

No Cores at the Sears I went to tonight, but I did see some clearance-tagged games that weren't there before. Blitz the League (PS2) for $16.xx and NFS: Most Wanted (PS2) for $11.97.
My guess is that they sold to an employee as soon as the clearance tag went on there.
Probably true. Can't say I blame them.

Went to Sears the other day, but Metal Gear Solid 3:S was still $29.99. I still told the guy to price check it, but no luck. I thought it wouldn't be reduced since it ended in a 9. But picked up AC:WW for DS for $19.97. The price on here says it's 29.97. I saw it there weeks ago for that price (29.99). So I hope they reduce MGS 3:S soon.

I bought Subsistence at a nearby BB and it rang up for $9.99. You could try checking BB again as someone in the forums had mentioned a possible re-stock of old clearance games.

wow for subsistence at $10, good deal. i might try to pick em up at bb then..

I will so get myself a 360 today if Sears actually has a Core but I'm 99% sure they won't =\

I'm guessing Sears stopped restocking those a long time ago....
The Sears in Monroeville, PA has the GBA Micro Famicom edition for $49.
wow still.. i guess we'll keep waiting.
wow still.. i guess we'll keep waiting.
Kmart's got it clearanced around here for $35. No 20th Anniversary editions, though.

If you have a DS Lite and you don't care that it barely fits in your pocket, you do not need the Micro. The screen quality / brightness is basically the same, only bigger on the Lite. However, the Micro is absolutely TINY, so if portability is an issue than springing for the Micro is well worth it. Great battery life on that little guy, I'd say six hours of straight play with the volume up and the brightness up to max.
For $35 I'd still be torn - my ds lite is too perfect to me...
Oh, that wasn't my point. My point was that they're available for $35, if the $50 price point wasn't good enough for you. I'm right there with you, though. I've got a DS original (not the Lite), and I have a hard time pulling the trigger on the Micro because it does every thing I need it to. Plays my GBA stuff and the DS stuff. In fact, I use it more to play GBA stuff than DS stuff.

Still, even I'm tempted at $35 brand new, just because it's so darned cute.

If you have full-sized-adult-male-hands, and like to play anything besides turn-based combat games DO NOT get a micro. You will experience severe cramps. I can play games like Yu-gi-oh on my micro, but a game like Kingdom Hearts: Chains of Memories will hurt after about 30min. I'll stick to the DS Lite for action-type games.

Though I do agree with you: the Super Famicon Micro looks great!

Saw Mario Super Strikers & Mario Baseball for 19.97, and Paper Mario Thousand Year Door for 11.97 at the Sears at Turtle Crossing in Columbus, OH

There were other games clearanced for the Cube, but these were the ones I remembered.

$50 is a lot for the Micro if you have a DS. I paid $50 for it a year ago when ToysRUs.com had that clearance sale and although it's a nice system, I have used it only a handful of times since I usually just play GBA games on my DS. Had the Micro played GB and GBC games, it would have been a lot more valueable to me

YMMV. I have full size adult male hands, I have problems using regular computer mice (I use trackball mice) and I have absolutely no problem using the micro for long periods of time, even Chain of Memories.

It does take a little getting used to, though.
I hope there's more drops soon. I've been sitting on a 25 dollar gift card for Sears forever.
Might want to use it soon after a year or 16 months I think it takes off a % amount the longer you dont use it
Might want to use it soon after a year or 16 months I think it takes off a % amount the longer you dont use it
Last I checked, Sears doesn't do that (unless they changed their policy in the past couple of months).

I thought I remembered something about how that practice was made illegal. Maybe it was just a particular state. Not sure.

Bought one, a 20th Anniversary edition, today at Sears, as a matter of fact. They were willing to price match the $35 price from the K-Mart just up the road, and when they price match, they also give you an extra percentage off. My total price including sales tax (6% in MI) was just barely over $35. I had to get a manager to do it, but they were more than happy to accomodate, and the 20th Anniversary Micro came in an unopened, spotless box. They had several more, too.

Scan price was $48.97, and they didn't even bother to make the call to verify. If they had, though, it wouldn't have been a problem.

The Metro Detroit area stores I hit today are mostly wiped out - the Lakeside Mall and Oakland Mall stores had nothing.

The Macomb Mall store had a few decent items left - they had Chibi Robo marked at $10 and Paper Mario for the Cube at $15, for instance - but there were a handful of copies of each of those left.

I only mentioned the GBA Micro for $49 because it was the Famicom edition. I didn't buy it, so I don't know how nice it is. The box was in perfect condition, and they had more than one.

Anyway, back on topic, at the same Sears in Monroeville, PA, they also had the Mario & Luigi DS game for $20.

Dude, I'm *in* Metro Detroit! I guess that's not important unless you're wanting the deal I talked about on the 20th Anniversary GBMicro, but the Oakland Mall Sears has several in stock, and they PMed for me today.

Their games, however, weren't priced competitively.

Actually, the Macomb Mall store had a few of the Micros left in stock too.

I just overlooked them because I can't justify $50 on my "broke college student" budget plan, especially when I've got an Arctic in the original style and a Game Boy Player. If any other CAGs want them, you've got my full blessing to go for it. ;)

But, I only paid $35 for the Famicom 20th Anniversary version, after they PMed the clearance price that K-Mart had. Important, that. :)

What kind of proof did you provide that says K-Mart has the system for $35? K-Mart's own website (aside from being out of stock) says $99.99. In my head I'm just not seeing an employee doing the PM (or caring to call) when I tell them the K-Mart down the street has it for $35 :)

Basically, I told them, and they indicated that if they felt the need, they'd call to confirm, which was no problem to me. The K-Mart resides in the same city, about 3 total miles away from where the Sears is. Did I have any actual, printed proof? No, but the manager was a good guy, and like I said: had they called the K-Mart, they'd have only been told what I told them.

Remember: they want your business, and by now the Micro is very much an old stock item. The price listed on the thing was $99, for crying out loud, and scanned at $48.97. The manager himself said that if it rang up at $99, he'd call, but if it rang up at $48.97, he wouldn't even bother...he'd just do the PM.

He was quite happy to sell it at that price, and asked me if I wanted more than one! I only bought it for the cute-and-cuddly-nostalgia factor (I already own a DS), but I may give it away as a gift, too. I haven't yet opened it.

If you're interested, they had a few more.

I picked up Sega Genesis Collection (PS2) for $4.99 at my Sears...weirdest thing, it was marked $4.99 but it rang up $19.99; after a manager hinting to his employee that I could have switched the stickers (yeah right, those stickers won't come off clean without Goo-Gone), they let me buy it for $4.99.

I bought a Xbox Live 12 month Starter Kit w/ Crimson Skies for $9.00 today.
Does anyone know if I can switch the card that expires with a valid code for my 360 from customer support or is it a lost cause?

I heard the 12 month codes never expire, so it should still work.

I actually had an experience similar to that. Last year, I went in looking for a copy of Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. The game wasn't marked in the case, and it took maybe ten minutes of effort for the employee helping me to determine that it wasn't on system in any way, shape, or form. She just gave up and asked me how much I wanted to pay. :D
Had a gameboy player price checked came up 59.99
BUY IT. NOW. And this not quite relevant story will explain why! ;)

I spent a week searching for one last summer when I got my GameCube. Now, there are a lot of stores in Metro Detroit, and I'm more or less in the middle of a circle of four major shopping malls. I checked every Target, every Meijers, every Toys R Us, and every store I could think of while I was looking, and no luck. Eventually, I decided to check the game stores again, despite the fact that all of the GameStop and EB employees had told me that they'd been out of stock for months and that I wouldn't find one.

The EB Games store locator shows 30 stores within 20 miles of where I live. Of those stores, ONE had a Game Boy Player. There was one left left in the store, in the back room, covered with a light layer of dust.
v
Anyway, the point I'm trying to make...the Metro Detroit area is oversaturated with stores that specialize in or carry video games. After weeks of trying to find one, I got lucky and found what must have been the only Game Boy Player left in the region.

If you're interested, buy it now - chances are this is your last chance, and you'll regret passing it up.

I found three Gameboy players at a Target last fall for 33 each. Not knowing the value or rareness and not having much money I thought it was too much and I'd get one later at another stage of the clearance. Later came back to pick it up hopefully cheaper and it was gone. Figured I could get one on ebay cheap and found used ones at 80 and new ones at 130 (Christmas presents?). Never seen another one in a store since then. Kicked myself every day. . . If you have any interest in one, you'll want to get it now.
Over a hundred on ebay? My local EBgames has around 10 of these priced at 29.99 used
That was around Christmas, but it's down to around 90-100 now. And that's new. However, those 29.99 used ones are going for around 60-70. Last I looked a month or two ago that is.
