The old Sears clearance thread was almost a year old, so I've taken the liberty of creating this one. I went back and wrote down the drops and lowest reported prices so far for all of 2007. The games may ring up more or less for you as prices are YMMV (your mileage may vary). The games should ring up at some sort of clearance price at every Sears store that carries games. They may not be tagged on clearance at your store, so you should have them scanned to find out what they ring up as. My local Sears rarely tags the clearance games, so I have to refer to this list. Games drop out of the system about a month after they hit $0.97.

Some clearance games at Sears were restocked over the holidays with new UPC stickers over the original UPC. These are ringing up $9.99-$19.99 as marked for now.

These prices are good at Sears, Sears Essentials, and Sears Grand stores.

Lowest reported prices (games may ring up less or more at your store):

If you have a new game or lower price to list, post it here and I'll update the OP periodically. Even if a game is only a few dollars off, please report it here. The price WILL drop on a regular basis. When reporting a price, please give us the game title AND system.

Here's a link to the old thread: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=103736

In my experience, the list of clearance games at Sears isn't YMMV, but the specific clearance prices are (prices drop at different speeds at different stores. Also, people keep complaining that the clearance games are ringing up $15-20 at their stores. If they would actually read this post, they'd know that's because those are restocked holiday games with new UPC tags. The old stock of those games should still ring up on clearance if you can find them.

And because people can't read, I'll say it again:

PRICES ARE ALL YMMV!
PRICES ARE ALL YMMV!
PRICES ARE ALL YMMV!

Picked up 2 Halo green S controllers for the Xbox $12.XX , the salesperson cussed at me for getting the last 2.

Got a couple of these last night for $4.95 each because they were on the wrong pegs. They were ringing up $10.XX, but after I got the manager involved he OK'ed the $4.95 price.

Star Wars rogue leader rogue squadron 2 $9.97 no upc sticker over original upc
Neo Contra $9.99

Many games had upc stickers over the original upc this was a different sears than the one I went to yesterday. :(

Were there any more left?

I went today to hit up all the K-Mart/Sears stores to look for Xbox Controller-S. This is what I ended up with and what I saw.

Logitech Cordless Precision Controller (wireless original Xbox) lying at the bottom of the shelf thingy. So I said what the heck, I need an extra xbox controller. So I brought it up the register and asked for a price check.

It came up $11.97!!!1!`!~!!!

Holly Cow! So I bought it. That's even better than the S-type controller I think. Friend has one and he loves it.

Also asked for the PS2 version of the wireless Logitech controller to be price checked, but unfortuantely, it's still $39.99. Will be keeping an eye on that one.

Went to another Sears to try to find a Controller-S. Saw a black one and a green one inside a locked cabinet. Asked for a price check. The black one was like $12 something, but the green one was $19.99... WTF!? Anyways, I only bought the black one.

Didn't check any games. Did see the non-Platinum Hits version of DOA4, but the shelf tag was still $59.98.

Oh! Also saw a lot of the Xbox Remote Control/DVD playback kit in the bargain bin, but I didn't get a price check because I got them from TRU before.

That Logitech controller was my awesome find for the day.

Will check out more K-Sears tomorrow. Wanna get a Kasumi Blue Xbox
controller.

Speaking of the DVD playback kit, how well does the original Xbox do as a DVD player? I was considering picking the kit up, but I thought I'd get some opinions of the Xbox's capabilities first. I guess one negative to watching movies on the Xbox is the fan noise.

No, I snagged the last two.

I made a major hit at Sears today. Got 2 Green Xbox Controller S and 1 black one at the Cerritos Sears. There's still 2 green and 1 black left there. Controllers were 13.97.

Also asked to price check the DVD remote + dongle. It's ringing up 19.99. Also Halo triple pack is still $49.99.

I haven't used the DVD remote I got at TRU. I think the DVD capabilities. My friend said the XBMC DVD playback is much better than the Microsoft one. Think XMBC allows you to output at 480p, and maybe even upscale to 720p and 1080i.

But like you said, one of the biggest negatives is fan noise. When I'm playing a game on it, I try to finish faster, so I can turn the damn thing off.

I think if you want excellent DVD playback, you should get a PS3. I saw the reviews on it with the newest 1.80+ firmware, and people have been saying the DVD upscaling is excellent, and should be pretty quiet/silent too.

 Well...I should have $600 lying around. Unfortunately it's a distant future purchase. I saw pics of the way the 360 runs antialiasing and smart upscaling on my old Xbox games, and damned if Im not wanting one of those things now, too. And I havent even paid off my new Sony XBR970 set yet...hoo boy...

That Capcom card-battling game reduced already? I guess I'm not surprised, but damn.

Or perhaps this is just part of Sears' clearancing out games for their "we dun wanna sell them anymore" move.

there was a major bug in the game, and its one of the reasons why the game isnt selling as good as it should.

http://kotaku.com/gaming/notag/card-fighters-ds-broken-256333.php

The bug occurs on the ninth floor of the tower during the second play through. The game crashes after talking to an opponent named Jon. Fighting him is necessary to complete the game, so you're pretty much stuck at that point. That is one giant suck.

there is a replacement program that just started on the 20th.
http://snkplaymoreusa.com/recall.php

Replacement Cartridges will begin shipping July 1, 2007. Cartridges will be shipped in the order that they are received

I tend to hate when all stages of clearancing for a certain store through a long period of time get deferred to a big, neglected, diluting thread.

I prefer when what appears to be a new, large set of clearances gets its own new post. I hate constantly referring to old, worn threads.

This might be a large number of clearances, and the end of June to the beginning of July tends to be when large clearances go down at most stores. I'm gonna check this out tomorrow (Suikoden V ). Thanks dworld.

Yeah, about that anti-aliasing -- I actually think xbox games look worse on the 360 than they do on the xbox. I also have a pretty nice HS sony set (it's no XBR) and find that the upscaler in the Sony set does a nice job to the original XBOX and the picture still looks crisp. On the 360 my xbox games are blurry and that makes me a sad panda...

Weird! It may have something to do with the infinite combinations of input settings, TV settings, and cables that make HD gaming so much fun. Did I say "fun"? I meant "fucking misery". My TV (which is the last HD glass tube Sony made) really puts out a nice 480p picture on games that were made for it, but looks awful if I have 480p selected on the Xbox output when playing a 480i only game. Which I guess is normal. The one 720p Xbox game I have, NBA Live 06, looks phenomenal. Too bad the game sucks.

Sears had the Xbox Advance AV Pack and about 8 Xbox Action Replays with no price marked. I asked the rep that I wanted the AV PAck and 1 Action Replay.. It rang up 0.00 so they said that they can't sell it and it means that its marked to be shipped back to the Vendor. I was so pi$$ed.

Same thing happened to me with the AV Packs. No price = no sale.

LOL, "the Vendor" will really want those back, too. I wanted a set of the Microsoft cables, but couldnt find them. So I just bought a set of the Monster Cable components new off eBay for $8 delivered. They work fine, but the connections are too tight and hard to get around the TV inputs. The wholesaler I bought from has a ton of them.

Hopefully the 65nm shrink will lower the heat and quiet the system.

But from the reviews of the PS3, it seems everyone says it's very quiet, and not much fan noise, which is very important for using as video playback.

Anyways, wanted to reported I picked up today:

Xbox Controller S green for $13.97
icongamecube.gif
Chibi-Robo $6.97

Also saw some of the Logitech Wireless PS2 controllers in the clearance bin, but they were ringing up at $39.99. Will keep an eye out on those. They feel very nice.

I'm not even sure if one of the Sears stores in my area carries video games. Should be interesting. I'll let you guys know how it turns out for me. I want ALOT of the Gamecube stuff on that list though.

Yeah... I think some Sears doesn't carry video games at all. I drove from Los Angeles to Vancouver, BC, and stopped at some of the Sears along the way. It seems the Sears in like Oregon and Washington doesn't carry video games at all.

Sometimes I think that K-Marts carry more video games than Sears here.

Takes about 20hr driving time (probably like 22-22 hr real time)... I usually don't stop for food, only gas. But I usually get sleepy/dizzy around the 16 hr mark, which is about 1hr south of Portland, OR. I stop around the rest area there and take a 1-2hr nap.

Last time, I stopped at some Sears I saw along the highway, I-5, and I didn't see any games at all. The one I can remeber is Medford, OR, which TRU and CC is close by and Tacoma, WA think was also close to a CC. That Medford, OR TRU is old skool! Has no R-Zone, and still has those glass display cases where the consoles are behind, and only shelf tags with the pull tickets for the games.

Which is wierd... All the Sears in SoCal have games, and I didn't expect Sears to be selling games in the first place.

Usually do most of my shopping in Portland, OR (Beaverton/Tigar and Jantzen Beach) because it's tax free, but not being able to pump my own gas makes me mad. In Seattle, usually stop by Southcenter since almost everything is there.

Last time also found the TRU in Eugene/Springfield, OR. Got lost a bit. I usually only stop at the BB and CC cause you can see if off the side of the highway. the TRU is further into the city. Seems like there's a bit better selection since it's a sleepy college town.

My local sears used to sell games 3-4 years ago.

Guess I should see and anything game related even exists down there. They don't get too many customers anyways >.>

I've done the trip from San Diego to Vancouver with a few friends. This was for Penny Arcade's Necrowombicon (before they started PAX). Took us about 23 hours total, switching off between three drivers every few hours. Exhausting, but tons of fun. It was especially fun when we hit the border crossing at 2AM and one guy didn't have any identification on him.

Checked the one nearby here a week or so ago, all games were regular price, and they had like six 360s just sitting there at regular price aswell. Some junk games were on sale though, like Family Guy.

I went to a pretty crappy Sears today as the prices they had were more than those being reported at other Sears.

Has anyone else been able to get Capcom Vs. SNK DS at a price less than $29.99?

I found one for under $20 shipped on eBay about a week after release. Try there?

I got an xbox controller S(black) yesterday on clearance for 12.95. The pricetag on the controller was 21.95.
Damn. If I had read this thread sooner I might have scored already. There's a Sears with video games right near the TRU.
Seriously, I need to go check out my Sears today....
has anyone pick some jampacks? how much are they?
I saw some yesterday, but I can't remember the exact price. I want to say they were $2.97.

I apologize for not taking better notes, but I was a little overwhelmed when I managed to unearth a (thankfully) untagged Karaoke Revolution 2. Took it to the scanner, and it indeed rang up $4.97. Sold!

found Chibi Robo for $6.97, picked up the last 2

edit: someone asked about the jampacks, they are $2.49 or maybe cheaper. and also Suikoden V is still $39.99

I found one Final Fantasy XI with hard drive bundle in the bargain bin I was broke but I was so excited I literally ran to the nearest bank to withdraw some cash to buy it I went back to Sears it was still there! I asked the employee for a price check nothing came up on the screen he scanned the box again nothing finally he manually entered in $19.99 no thanks. I was so disappointed. Someone wrote a number on the box using a pen I asked the employee what the number meant he said it was a stock number should I have asked him to enter the number written on the box in the computer?

located a DDR Mario Mix while travelling through Columbus over the weekend. It was the last one. I was shocked to find it.
