Exactly. I have a ~$100 in credit and it will be worthless. They know what they're doing...

I went last night and tried to grab NASCAR 09 and BlazBlue; I took the cases to the register and guess what...couldn't find either disc. He said that another employee probably borrowed BlazBlue and had no clue about NASCAR. No wonder they're going out.

I may try to grab a Wii or something to resell with the credit; I don't know.
 
Was going to ask the guy at the Milford, OH GC if the store was closing until he started giving me crap about trading in another Dark Spire :D

In the south texas area of 956, these 3 stores are confirmed for closing: Edinburg, San Juan, Mission. Pull any credit you have out by having them put it on a gift card so you can use it at another gc/hw instead.
 
The one in Annandale, VA is closing, and as makes sense, they're sending out most of their stuff ahead of time. I'll probably check it out at some point anyway...but I won't hold my breath.

Star Wars: Force Unleashed on PS3. I don't remember if it sells for 14.99 or 12.99 used, but it trades into Amazon for $12. Also, on Sunday, the Wii version of TFU dropped to 9.99 new, and it trades into Amazon for $8. That's all I can think of off of the top of my head.

Queensbury, NY store is not closing. The manager was just bringing a few used systems into the store when I was there a while ago. It's the only one within about 40 miles though, they seem to do a decent business.

The times they are a changing. I would expect that an announcement will be coming soon that Hollywood Video and/or Movie Gallery will be closing the majority of its stores also. Any information on Las Vegas that can be obtained by local CAG's would be appreciated.

Actually the Uptown location isn't an actual Gamecrazy, although I think they were years ago. The Golden Valley location is an actual Gamecrazy with a Hollywood attached.
 
Very sad news. As a former GC employee I have a lot of friends still working with the company. I wish them all the best and hope their jobs are safe. I always liked GC. It was actually a really nice environment to work at. I worked at 3 different stores over the course of 2 years and enjoyed each one. Up until recently GC had better deals than GS. I (and I'm sure most of us) saw this coming though.
 
Just called, and the stores in Hagerstown and Frederick (maryland) are both staying open.

Good and bad. While I won't be able to participate in the sale, being unemployed, I probably wouldn't be able to take much advantage of it anyways. :razz:
 
There are 4 GC's here is Colorado Springs, I went in the my local GC and talked with the manager. He said all 4 stores are closing down. There is one other GC in Fountain, just south of CO Spgs that is staying open. Thats a really far drive from north CO Spgs. I'm sorry to hear about this, the manager also told me that he just found out yesterday that he was losing his job. I wish all you GC employee's the best of luck in finding a new job in these tough times.
 
Another idea to get what you want is to special order stuff at hwv, the only YMMV issue is the 6$ handling fee, some ppl have reported it as a per item charge and some others as a per transaction charge.

I was also led to believe that the website will be upgraded in the near term to include the ability to buy stuff, so I think it's fair to assume that credit will be viable for buying stuff online.

I'm not sure if any store will give you cash for store credit. The last thing the store wants to do is give away cash, and a store that is closing might be near to impossible to do it.

All philadelphia stores as well as the bristol/levittown store are closing. Thats around 11 stores. Sucks that a market like philly will now be monopolized by Gamestop. These are my favorite phily stores, good people, great stock

Thanks for the post. The Layton closing makes me a sad panda. With all the different store closings, pretty soon I will have to buy all my games from Amazon.

I went down to go to that one last week and it was completely empty. I can confirm that it is closed for good. I wonder if the one in Darien is closing?
 
Keep in mind guys... tho you'd be tempted to wait for a higher % off, some stores that are closing are already shipping out their merchandise today! I called the one in Manteca, CA and he said they shipping their inventory of games out starting today so I jumped up and got in the shower. Then I remembered that the sale isn't until the 3rd and called back to ask if they'd honor it for today. They said no. Guy was nice enough to ask manager for me.

Call before you head out to your stores to make sure they even have an inventory of games left by the 3rd. Almosted wasted gas and time! Phew!

P.S. the 2 GC in Stockton, CA are staying open
 
GC - Ralph Ave Brooklyn, NY - said they are going strong.
GC - Grand Street Jersey City, NJ - isn't listed on their website anymore and no one picked up the phone so I imagine they closed. They were sharing what looked like tiny space inside Hollywood Video.

They weren't really in the easiest of areas to access, plus Newport Center Mall being nearby and all the GS's in there, I'm surprised they lasted that long in the strip mall.

I think several stores closed on Saturday and were quickly removed from the Store Locator. Maybe some exec thought it felt good and decided to do it some more.

Yeah, good store. Probably closing solely because it is hard to find the first time.

Another question (and I apologize if this has already been asked, but if it has I missed the answer): are the stores that are closing still taking trade-ins? I would guess not, but it'd be nice if they were for another day or two - I've got an extra Vision cam I need to get rid of. :whistle2:k

You really didn't even have to ask on the phone to know if they were closing. The ones that were closing all answered the phone " Game Crazy" while the ones remaining opened did their usual preorder spiel.

All the ones closing are either in really bad locations (N Lamar, Georgetown) or have another Gamecrazy nearby (William Cannon).

This town is really GameStop-centric though. There are 20 in the area including a flagship store (Arboretum).

20 vs. 4. This isn't going to last long. If a store has something out of stock they're gonna have to say "just go across town" while GameStop is in nigh every strip mall all over town. What will the average consumer pick? (especially when looking at the value of MVP vs. EDGE)

Cedar Park barely counts as Austin... it's a suburb that's about 15-20 miles north of the city center. But there's far less competition up there, so I can see why it remained.

Stores that already have closed do not show in the Store Locator. Some closed in the past week and are not there. Both stores remaining open and those closing soon will show in the locator.

You're really more likely to get an answer for a specific store and a lot sooner if you just call. I called 3 and found out within a few mins.
 
Mostly because i dont have anything to contribute, but the GC store in Dallas, Tx on Hampton is also closing. they started boxing stuff up today. I wonder if theyll keep their strategy guides for the sale, they have alot of them that id like to get my hands on.

Spoke to associates at the Latham and Albany locations and each said they were closed for the rest of the week and are starting liquidation on saturday. Both said 20% off used stuff and all new stuff is getting transferred out.

Just called and found out that the Stevens Point, WI Game Crazy store is closing on the 25th of next month.

SHIT SHIT SHIT

The next closest GC to here is hours away. This friggin' sucks!

Well The GC location in Pewaukee,WI on Capitol Drive is Closing as well as the one in Milwaukee,WI on Mitchell St.

Well 2 down 1 left open and that one is to far to drive for random game shopping ....
