Just got off the phone with the store in Hazleton, PA. He assured me that they're doing fine and are not closing. Good for me since that's the only one nearby that I know of and I always stop in there when I go up to Hazleton. What's better than being forced to see family on holidays? Going to Game Crazy on holidays!
 
Haha, my store is awesome. They're doing everything they can to sabotage this stealth transfer and I was able to blow through my credit tonight since nothing was packed up. He even asked if I had found out about the closings through Kotaku, so they're well aware of the leaks going on. That's what happens when you've nothing to lose and bite the hand that feeds.
 
Went and called a few of the Northwest Indiana stores. Portage, Merrillville and Hammond are all staying open.

Only closure they knew about was in Lansing, IL.

The lansing store sucked, and it's next to an empty (Meaning no customers) Moviezone store. I'm glad those Indy stores are staying open.

I know, I could probably crank out a blog on this, but it is a real shame about the impact poor management has on all the loyal employees (and customers). The ones you feel deserve it, unfortunately, are not feeling it. The people we have dealt with directly as customers, who in my case have shown great interest, courtesy and service are the ones who get fucked. ---Sorry, that is the first time I have ever used that "smily"---

I just got back from our Game Crazy and it's almost empty. The walls for the new games only have a couple of games left on them and none of them are even worth it at 30% off. I talked to the guy working there and he said that they were sending back a lot of the used games, too. My guess is that it's the really expensive ones that are going.

I just called my local GameCrazy (McKee Rd. location in San Jose, CA) and talked to Steve. They are NOT closing, but almost every other store in the district will be.

you know, as much as I love GC, i kinda saw this coming, (after promos) their TIVs never seemed to be as high as GS/EB. theyre really hit or miss, some are GREAT GC's and the others are PATHETIC. I have one I go to every now and then and when i asked to see a GB Micro that was on that clearance list (9.99), this was his exact quote before showing it to me:

"why you want a GB Micro man???"

now maybe I dont "look" like a typical gamer but that was the rudest thing Ive ever heard.. i was disgusted and thought man this is why i avoided this particular store.. like i said, hit or miss

i wanted to say: hey buddy eff off, i want to play video games on that system!

I got a question. This is my first time trade in a game in GC, they gave me a gift card, can I use it in stand alone Hollywood video store ?

from what I know the only store in Southern California staying open around me is Baldwin Park, GC. Rosemead, Monterey Park, Alhambra are closing I think the Pico Rivera one is staying open since it is a stand alone game store.

Strangely enough, the South Michigan store is 1 of 3 that are going to be left. the other 2 are Oak Forest and Oak Lawn. (This according to Oak Forest and Orland Park employees).

I went in to a Gamecrazy today and had no idea this was happening. The employees were NOT happy, at all. They told me to start shopping at Gamestop, even though there are 3 Gamecrazy's that are staying open in my area.

Funny how quickly people's opinions change when something effects them personally. Gamecrazy is the best as long as they're signing your checks, then all of a sudden they aren't so great. Anyway I can't say it's all that much of a shock, there were way too many of these stores in my area.

Its like the opposite for me. 5 GS and 1 GC, but pretty soon itll be 5 GS and no GC within at least 30 miles. Not surprised since the GC always seemed to be empty when I go there. Sucks to be stuck with credit though...

Spend, spend, spend like a madman. Use pretty much everything in credit you have now there, but save only a few bucks to see if you can score something cheap during the weekend.

Out of all of the stores in El Paso, TX, only one is closing. 700 N Zaragoza Rd is the one. Someone should update the OP with a list of confirmed closures from posts.

That's good to hear, that's the one I go to as well. Steve and everyone that works there is awesome, so that's great news. The other ones nearby are shutting down though? I just might have to check them out...

Yeah, thats what im debating right now. Since many pages from GC employees have stated theyve been shipping the better titles back, I wonder if I should just pick them up before they get shipped back or wait and see whats on discount. Its hard since I had just literally received this trade in credit like 2 weeks ago, and now the company is closing the only store thats within a 30 mile radius. I feel jipped T___T
 
Went to a GC that was almost done packing and nothing good was left at all. Their wallspace was basically empty. It was pathetic.
 
I like how they closed stores as fast as they could without telling the public so that we couldn't use our credit. You'd think there were laws against that type of action.

Must have shipped all of the stuff away already, as the liquid sales haven't occured yet. I am worried this is going to happen for most of the stores. By the time the stock starts to get discounted, all of the stock will be gone and shipped away.
 
Sorry for the offtopic question, but is that heavyweight contender kit still free with a purchase of punchout @ amazon? I can't find that thread and i've done a search.
 
Reading about all the stores packing up the good games made me worry so I stopped by one to use up all of my credit. Good thing too because they already pulled the new PS3 games off the shelf and were about to be packed.

I had a hard time deciding on what to spend all my credit on but the employees were both very helpful and knowledgeable in trying to help me find good games that I don't already own. Definitely not the kind of service I've gotten from some rude ass GS employees before.

It sucks to see awesome guys like that lose their jobs.
 
that sux why dont they just sell out to gamestop that way they can just turn the stores into more gamestops keep the employees
 
Talked to an employee in Western Washington and he confirmed that the Burien store and also the Puyallup store are closing but they (Auburn) aren't at this time. He also said that any credit from trade ins had to be used at the individual store (didn't think it worked like that) or you could lose it. I guess I'll go in and transfer it onto a HHV/GC gift card that can be used all over is this is true.

God damn crapweasel. My GC had almost nothing left. Not even some decent budget Wii games. What a rip ~_~. I think the worst part is that they are only returning credit for pre-orders back in the form of a GC gift card. Thats what the girl told me when I went there earlier. I asked why they couldn't just refund me my money, and they told me since the company wasn't going out of business (they might as well), the best they could do was give me a gift card. Yeah, because driving over 30 miles to the next GC around me is really worth the money I put down on preorders. I was not that angry before, but its starting to get me angrier the more I think about it. :bomb:

During the last round of closings the good stuff was shipped to stores that were staying open, just like now. BUT, there was more time given and the list of closing stores was published before the closings started. I really don't believe in conspiracy theories, but it does make you wonder.

Except when their nearest store has closed and the next nearest is an hour drive away. Then ordering off a web-site is far more efficient.
