Smallville Rules *Spoilers*

A year or so ago, I caught a random episode of Smallville and thought "eh".

But then a few months later I caught the Pilot episode on a rerun and now I'm hooked.

So after watching it all last season, my wife decided to catch an episode and now she's hooked as well.

As for a vibe, I think it gives off a "X-Files" one, what with Mark Snow doing the music, filming in Vancouver, and the "freak-of-the-week" episodes.

Now if only Chloe would call in Mulder and Scully to do some investigating...

Read an article about this season of SVille and the writers have been told to be careful and not do things in the storyline that will conflict w/ Batman Begins and the loooong delayed new Superman project. That is why Lois and Clark are not supposed to kiss so it is a big deal in the movie.

This was announced yesterday. Some relative unknown who's been on Gilmore Girls, IIRC. You should be able to find details on any movie site.

The Bart name may be a hat tip to the Impulse character in more recent comics. IIRC he is a distant descendant of a contemporary Flash.

If they really wanted to push things they could have brought in John Wesley Shipp to play the kid's father.
HAHAHA. that'd been cool but they mishmoshed the flash's origin. they didnt really give any details aside from "there was an accident and a big flash" then to have him carrying IDs with 3 differnt flashes names and call him Bart after the current "kid flash" formerly Impulse and then use that "I'm form the future" line on Chloe maxed out the cheese meter for me so there's no clear definition on him outside of the 'He'll probably be back someday' type of thing.

With this series they've drasticaly ignored the cannon. There's no way the could totally retcon the story in the comics without a full on ZeroCrisisHour catastophe to change it enough. at most they could introduce a "Chloe" into the comic but thats about it.

I've heard the "Young Bruce Wayne" stories and technically they may even try it at some point. Heck I predicted several possible cameos in th first season like GL, prehaps a young wonder wo--er girl? Bruce would be an EASY choice.
Once they decided to make the events in the here and now all serious continuity was out the window. At this rate, Superman wouldn't make his first public appearance until 2010 or so. Quite a different world from 1938 and the various starting points we've had since.

This reminds me of a story they did in 1976 as part of the Bicentennial hype. This had Kal-El coming to Earth in 1976 and falling directly into the military's hands. Clark is raised by an officer who does a good job, focusing on character. Superboy remains a secret until World War III breaks out and he gathers up all the missiles and destroys them. He is shocked when he is treated as a sort of messiah and choses to become Clark Kent and hide his abilites from the world. He keeps this cover for several years until a four-armed android appears, claiming to be the savior who averted the nuclear holocaust and demanding that humanity follow his commands. Superman reappears long enough to destroy the android and admonishes the worshipful public that they need to shift for themselves rather than looking to self-appointed gods.
Maybe this was covered already, but did they ever finally decide on who would be Superman in the movie?
yea i heard this week
some soap opera actor
that suxxxxx
although hugh jackman was an aus soap actor and look what happened with him

oooo yessss
its back... my weekly bump of the best show on tv
so tonight original lois lane was at the end sorta in place of christopher reeves and was his characters assistant i beleive and seems to maybe be a bad guy. convienent that lionel had the amnesia after being clark all episode but clarks goodness has changed him and healed him for the inside........niceeeeee touch

Ive been stoked about smallville since day one. I like the story of him comming up in modern day era. Him being Kal-El and flying was an awesome episode. If you arent a big fan of the comic world, you miss alot of little things they drop in the show.

well last week mr mzplitzk(or however u spell it guest stared for the first time) and this week lana is hotter than shes ever been in her delicious goth clothing. my god shes gotta b one of the hottest girls on tv right now

Actually I think that was more of an homage to Mr Mxlyplk (s.p.) since the comic version is an alien and u have to get him to say/ read his name to get rid of him. It was a wink, wink to the audience. It wld have been a classic if they had Gilbert Godfry play him as he did in the classic cartoon episodes. The hot animated red head wld have been a further bonus.

The Red Son Superman series was an interesting take on something similar... instead of landing in Smallville, young Kal El lands on a farming collective in Soviet Russia. It's actually handled very well, and I found it an enjoyable read.

bump
repeats this week

clark almost told chloey his secret in the last episode in the last sec of the ep and they cut it off

did that whole chloey clark last second of the Episode her knowing his secret thing again. Consistently a good show. Flash episode still my fav so far this season. Still hate Lois. Lana still so yummi.

a little spoiler maybe
clark gets his info and rejuvenates where in the superman movies????
the answer will be a very cool new addition to the show!!!!!

Kinda weak cliffhanger. I thought the "fortress of solitude" would suddenly appear. But clark just threw the rock in the air, and that was it....

Great show, though!

One thing about the last season that kinda annoyed me though was that every episode seem to be about some "personal identity" crisis for some character each week.

I agree, I was never a hardcore follower of the show (I enjoyed the early seasons every now and again) but everytime I tuned in it seemed too much like the OC with superpowers or something, last season kinda turned me off on the show a little more I think.

The finale totally washed away the stink of the previous two episodes, seeing Lex starting to lose it was worth seeing the episode for alone.

Oh yeah I forgot about Lex. What did he mean by saying, "I'm the son that you always wanted father."
Oh yeah I forgot about Lex. What did he mean by saying, "I'm the son that you always wanted father."
I took it to mean he was the devious oportunistic asshole son Lionel always wanted but thought he never would have in Lex because Lex always seemed to have a somewhat good heart up until this point. I mean he throws his father on a bed instead of trying to get him a doctor so I figured he was just going to let him rot since he viewed him as an enemy, the type of thing his father would approve of.
I thought the finale was great but I can't wait to find out who/what is in that ship Lana encountered.
I'm hoping for General Zod

I just saw the finale last night and WOW it was good. I don't usually watch fantasy shows on tv so I'm not sure about what kinds of budgets they get, but this episode's meteor strike was VERY well done and convincing.

Also, from the sound of Lois's farewell, it seems like she will thankfully be leaving the series. Nothing against her but it just made no sense to have her come in after having three seasons of development between the Clark and Lana relationship.

And i *hope* that whoever comes out of that ship is not another "teen heartthrob" looking person but it is the WB so my expectations are low. It would be nice to get a more mature non-teenage character on there that can prove to be a capable foil to Clark and perhaps an accomplice with Lex.

Speaking of Lex, DAMN! I've been waiting for his dark side to emerge, but it has usually been limited to episodes where he is not fully in control of himself. The series has done a great job of foreshadowing his decline into a villain and this finale gives me hope that maybe next season we'll get some serious time with his dark side. I'm curious about Lionel Luthor though. Second season he went "blind". Third season he supposedly turned good only to be brought back to his dark ways. Is he going to be in a coma for the majority of the 4th season? I seriously hope not. That is a tired cliché that the show doesn't need. Have Lex kill him as either the result of Lex's recent villainy or as a catalyst into it.

And one final note about Chloe. The writers seriously need to rethink her character because i have felt nothing but pity for her for most of the series. She's never stopped being hopelessly in love with Clark and its clear that she has no chance with him. She's always pushed into the background behind Lana or whoever else Clark is interested in. Everytime she got a boyfriend, he always ended up being the "bad guy of the week". Give her a love interest (assuming that she stays on the show at all considering that she appears to be moving away to college)! Also, it was dissapointing to see no closure in the whole:

Chloe: You have super powers...uh I mean you are special.
Clark: Are you saying I'm not human? What do you know?
Chloe: Nothing nothing. I just meant...you play sports well.
Clark: Ha, yeah I do. *clueless*

I was hoping she would FINALLY reveal that she knows but, alas, we got another one of those "i-know-who-you-are-but-I'm-not-telling-you" moments.

Overall I am very much looking forward to what might be the last season of Smallville.

I'm hoping it's not human. There's been a lot of guesses on what could be in the ship. So far, my guesses are Zod, or potentially Braniac. I doubt Braniac could be it, as he's insanely strong, and a teenaged Clark would have no chance to try him, especially since Clark has so many more powers to learn. It could be Zod, but it seems to early to bring in the weird crew, as I call them.

It'd be pretty cool to have a prototype Doomsday, but it's obvious that won't happen.

Well here we are again........

Bumping my yearly topic of my favorite show..........

Fortress of Solitude.....
Superman Movie II Esqe bad guys/girls

ummmm luvvvvvv this shit so far

ok season premiere just ended
Smallville and Buffy have now merged if u saw the last scene.....General Zod?
I knew I saw James Marsters name in the opening credits
ok why does it say in the end dedicated to Sam Loeb? whos that anyone post a picture?
Well Jeff Loeb(name right?)is a comic writer(and a verrryyyy good one). I think he was part of Batman: the long Halloween mini series, daredevil yellow, spiderman ble, hulk gray, and others. He also is a writer producer for smallville. I think I read somewhere that he had a sick son. Looks like his son was 17 since it said 1988-2005. Anyone else got any more?

Very nicely done. I was wondering when the fuck they were gonna show marsters. Since he's suppose to be Brainiac, yet the ship was there on behalf of Gen. Zod...mighty interesting.

This is not the last season of smallville, Also , very good epsiode. The people over at the main site already said its 7 seasons, might go into 8, but 7 is really the last one.

Do you have any evidence? Last time I checked official sources, the writers were claiming that this season would likely be the last.

I've just read the info on the Sam Loeb thing. Sam was Jeph's son, and I was right he was sick, Cancer. The thing I didn't know was he wrote comics like his father and wrote an issue of the Buffy Tales of the Vampire comic. He also was in the process of writing the GREAT Superman/Batman comic forget which #(25, 26 maybe?) when he died and didn't finish. His father is finishing the comic and now comics BIGGGG names all want to contribute to the issue. Mike Turner, Jim Lee, Pat Lee, there's a huge list that will contribute to this one comic and proceeds go to a scholarship fund. This issue will be packed with talent.

I've been enjoying Smallville since the beginning and it is awesome how they are showing the life of Superman as a teen in TV series form.

Do you all think them putting Lona and Clark together so soon in the season going to be bad for their relationship?

we all know clark ends up with lois so it kinda sux watching him and lana knowing its all BS. Lois is soooo fucking annoying. And kinda ugly IMO. Call him smallville one more time and I'm jumping through the tv.

That was what I was thinking when I watched last night. Even when Chloe wanted some Clark action we all know that he ends up with her cousin.
excellent episode my only gripe is the two Kryptonians were put down much too easily and conveniently
Agreed. For being such a "noob" at facing anyone better than a human, far too easy.
