SNES Classic Discussion Thread

How? You can't sell an item on Amazon until it comes out.
Lol i checked again and theyre all gone now. It was weird but it had like 6 listings. Im just pissed cuz i probably couldve got the super famicom. I hesitated. Sigh. I just hope i can get a US one. And they better only allow 1 per customer. But stores dont care they just want to sell them.

I'm dissappinted Out of This a World wasn't included the most, but other than that Mortal Kombat, Killer Instinct, Turtles in Time, and some random RPG with castles I use to have: this console has everything I wanted on it and more. I do feel gyped that the NES Classic got more games.
(Ones I knew would never make it but dreamed about: Hook, Aladdin, The Lion King, & Goof Troop)

i was wrong about preordering on amazon, it was simply the release day drop from which i ordered nov. 10/11 will edit my previous post to reflect this,

Again, this will be undoubtedly hacked so you can realize the dream on yours. I have a feeling this time around it won't be as limited so unless you aren't really determined to get one, should be easy to do.

Side note:

Does anyone have any tips they can share about how to get this thing the instant it goes live? Other than hitting refresh 10,000 times?

Other than coming on CAG or just getting lucky, IDK any other effective way.
There are none, you have two options. The first is to have no life, no responsibilities, no family obligations and camp overnight outside Best Buy, Target, Toys R Us, or Walmart.

The second is just random dumb luck of being on the right site one the right day at the right time and getting one online, but good luck with that. I remember when Amiibos were hot, Amazon announced ahead of time when they were going to be listing them, and the rarest ones went out of stock before most people even had the chance to buy them. Maybe if you live on a college campus and have access to a T3 connection of some sort and can download data in the blink of an eye you might be successful, but for the other 99% of us there's no chance.

Anyone else bummed Gem Fire isn't included?

That game was great!

Also, not joking, King Arthur's World was such a cool game, although a lot of people hated it.

What is the chance that Nintendo will know this will be very popular and make as many systems as people want so its not in short supply

One thing to keep in mind if you ordered from either GAME or Amazon.co.uk:

* You'll need to provide a US-plugged AC-to-USB adapter, since it'll come with a UK-pronged one.

* GAME won't remove VAT from the price of the item, unlike Amazon.co.uk, which does.  Nor will they refund it after time of shipment.
* Never assume Amazon.co.uk will complete an order if they said "Cannot ship to the US" though let you place the order anyway.

No biggie. The fact that you were able to actually secure one from Amazon that day is newsworthy enough. Amazon royally screwed up that release.

Figuring out the balance between producing enough for everyone to have one and producing too many so they linger on store shelves is really difficult for something like this. I don't entirely blame Nintendo.

About the same chance as winning the lottery

I know it's ridiculous to feel this way, in this day and age, but I've never liked hacking stuff. So while I know it's possible and entirely my fault that I won't be able to play these games by not doing it, I'm dissappinted that these games weren't included on the console.
You're right though. It'll probably be possible almost immediately after release.

so you're saying any us adaptor?

I don't think the EU one comes with a plug at all, but I could be mistaken.

Actually, that's three things

Nintendo loves to dangle that carrot. So this will only be shipped for 3 months from Sept. 29th till end of Dec. They have learned nothing from the NES Classic. This is why I refuse to buy a Switch. I do not imagine Sony would pull this shit if they released a PSOne mini with 30 pre-installed games. And their press release mentions they have to focus on Switch production and 3DS. Then why even make this damn thing? I do not expect to be able to ever get one and like NES Classic you will never see it on a store shelf.

This is the only real thing to keep in mind

I'm trying to get both the UK and NA versions now anyway.

You're mistaken if you don't think Nintendo is pulling artificial hype.

I know tons of people that looked at the NES Classic and assume the Switch will be in limited stock.
Once more people are looking at the NES Classic and seeing these will be limited again, Nintendo is selling all their stock and not losing any profit.

If anything Nintendo is playing it safe.

Took my son out today and haven't been on here for all of 6 hours and this has been announced and over 300 replies. Stomach sank thinking I missed the pre orders. Well here's to hoping I can order one when they do go up. Still can't believe I was actually able to find a NES classic just sitting at Target back in March.

Why make it? Because it's likely $50-$60 profit per unit lol
200k at $50 per system is like $10 million

They learned nothing since they always do it and it works. Nintendo sold out their entire inventory and don't have any leftovers in stores (which no product should ever want unless they plan on continuing to produce that product). They got the word out of the Switch with the release a cheaper product that gave them at least 100% profit.

People may be hurt in some way by not being able to get it but you're the minority and majority of people that got the NES Classic are interested or have a Switch. Those that didn't will likely just get a Switch.

The Switch is what they really want you to buy since it will have a classic marketplace. What a great marketing tool for Nintendo to promote a product with another product. Most companies pay millions to promote their stuff. Nintendo does too, the difference is they make a profit directly from that marketing.

People are actually defending this limited time BS? Lol. No other corporation in the entire world operates like this. If Nintendo really wanted to profit they would ship 20 million of these easy and I can guarantee they would sell everyone of them. They could ship 50 million and still sell all of them.

LOL my local newspaper's Facebook page posted about the SNES classic and wrote that it's coming with two WIRELESS controllers. The comments section is so excited about the wireless controllers, but I don't want to burst their bubble

Would you try buy something extremely common on launch day or wait till the price drops for it?

I know for the last generation of consoles I waited till the price dropped near $100 before buying any of those consoles.

It's because people know the item is limited Nintendo could easily charge $80 for something that should be $20/$40 at maximum price for a huge profit return.

But this is just knowledge I picked up over the years, the folk like you went to business school sure know a lot compared to me or Nintendo.

You've got it all figured out. Sounds like you have no reason to keep posting in this thread then huh?

Ok I can't order on game due to the phone number issue. What format did anyone use? On mobile and it keeps telling to use the required format even though I'm using a U.K. Number.

I'm just hoping US pre-orders go up on Amazon or Best Buy today, or another time when I'm camping CAG so that I never have to worry about this ever again.   That way I can just sit back and enjoy my new systems when they arrive.

People can bitch about Nintendo all they want.   You're here because either a)you're interested or b)you're a troll.  All the other heresy is just noise.   If you are planning on buying one, there's no reason not to order a SNES Classic as soon as you have the chance.

People are going to be pissed later and scrambling all over the place as soon as the first wave of systems sells out.

I just want people who want one to get it at MSRP. Not pay that scalper tax. As far as me not buying a Switch because of stuff like this, that is my decision as a consumer.

It's funny that people hate on Nintendo about limited releases, but when they fixed the Amiibo problem everyone was laughing about buying them for heavy discounts and/or complaining about how the ones they had lost "value".  Then they went back to making less and we have people complaining again.  They can't win.

The biggest problem here is it doesn't matter how many they make, scalpers are going to jump on them full force right away due to last year.  Guaranteed.  If there is no shortage, they will create a shortage.  Even people that normally wouldn't buy will remember last year and want to get one for it being a "rare novelty".

If they flood the shelves, it will kill the cash cow.  If they don't people complain.
