Is anyone planning on waiting in line all night for the 360 when Best Buy gets their next shipment in this weekend? The 2 closest to me are each getting 52 systems according to the list floating around and I'm hoping just waking up at 5 a.m. will do the trick but somehow I don't think so...

I guess I might be if I dont get in my preorder from GS this week.
They should take a bunch of those back from JP and make them so they can be sold here.

I teach at a boarding school. i half thought of telling them of an overnight field trip mandatory for our economics class, then loading them up in the school bus, and camping out at Best Buy.

Then I imagined all the negative press our school'd get and I got discourages...

They just keep trickling in. My gamecrazy(which i just got hired at) got like 10 more and they went straight to pre orders. People who have been buying on ebay are stupid.

Ive thought about it but I was in a few game stores over the weekend and it seems that everybody looking for one knows about BB getting them in this week for the big sunday push, I want a 360 but seeing as I have no way of telling how many systems each of the 2 best buys in my area will be getting and Im not up for standing in a line saturday night/sunday morning, I'll probably miss it this time around...

yeah, they are coming in pretty good now. targets, wal-marts, costco, I bet sam's will get some, the best buy 2nd launch. I think microsoft is going to start focusing on meeting the demand in the US now

there is a way to tell how many each bb store is getting. find your store #s (use the store locator on bestbuy.com) then go to xbox.clambert.org and plug in your zipcode. my local bb is getting 38

Didnt know that, thanks for the info...

Well per xbox.clambert.org it looks like both of the bestbuys in my area are getting 34 systems for each store... If the lines arent to bad, I might take a shot at getting one on sunday then..

how do you get the clambert site to work? I went to the site, it asks for my zip so I put that in and it brings up a map of my area. Just a map, nothing on it but the interstates. On the right side it shows Best Buys in California and not my area and there is nothing to click on to bring up the next group.

try internet explorer, i couldn't get it to work in firefox either.

there is also a complete list on the gamefaqs forums somewhere if you can't get xbox.clambert to work, most stores will have between 24 and 50 premium systems

if there's a heatwave in chicago that night, perhaps. otherwise, i'm gonna roll by at about 5AM and see what the line is like.

I'm reasonably sure this is one of those cases where, if you dont show up at around the time the store is closing the previous day, you might as well not show up. The 10 people long laptop line at Best Buy on Black Friday was taken up by midnight easily.

Well no one knows about this except employees and "intarweb people" so personally I dont see any reason of getting there more than 10 hours ahead of the opening.

Even the smaller towns that have Best Buys in them will have at least 20-40 people who know about the interwookie. And thats really all that is needed to kill the deal.

Also, employees have been telling people that ask them, which must be a bunch. I personally saw an employee tell someone to come back on the 18th while I was picking up Guitar Hero.

Dont know yet My BB is only getting 28 and I have to go to my Wifes X-mas party the night before.. I guess I could go party then wate on line... But my Mom works part time at TRU I could just tell her to hold me one when they come in...

My BB is gettint 52 and yes I am camping out at around 8pm after I get off of work. I don't own any camping chairs/sleeping bags so I will most likely get a fever, but it's winter break anyway.

Go to walmart and buy a $5 chair in bag and $3 on some thermal underware (aka longjohns) and you will be good to go...

I'm trying to think of what I would wait 12 hours in the cold for and I can't come up with something offhand.

Lets see....stand in line in the freezing cold to *maybe* get one? And maybe it'll be one of the buggy ones they whipped together to meet demand?

Jesus christ people, can't you play your Cubes/Xboxes/PC's/PS2's a few more weeks until frickin February???

I'm having my mom get in line (or start a line mid afternoon to late afternoon) on saturday, then once I get off of work at 6pm or so, drive there and take her place in line and send her home. My dad really, really, wants one so my mom and his mom are pitching in to buy him one. My friend sold me his GS reserve, so hopefully that will get filled within the next two weeks.

I talked to a BB employee and asked his take on whether it would be necessary to stay out all night and he said he thought so based on the 100+ questions a day he has been getting about the second launch.

At this rate, if my pre-order doesn't come in before Christmas I'm going to cancel my order and get a refund. Either that or I'll sell my preorder to someone here for cost plus shipping.

I'm planning to go with my friend partly for the Xbox and partly for the experience. My last gaming "campout" was for the Gamecube midnight launch at a 24hr WalMart and while mildly eventful wasn't so much of a "happening." Thank goodness for Advance Wars 4-way battle, or else it would've been a mind-numbing 6 hours. I'm bringing along my video camera to hopefully capture some madness and/or hijinx, provided anyone else in my town has a clue about the new shipment. Hopefully someone else with a DS'll be in line (does BestBuy's wireless broadcast when they're closed? maybe I'll also bring my PSP).

"Madness and Hijinks"????

I hate to rain on someones parade here, but lets be frank. The only thing lining up for a videogame system says to the outside world is:

1) I dont have a job and my parents are paying for this. I'm so cool..I can't wait to go home and sit in my room and play xbox360, then go online and tell everyone how cool it was to stand there in line with everyone. (This applies to kids aged 18 to 40 by the way, including the "going to my room at my parents house" part).

2) I'm a total nerd with a job who is so obsessed with gaming that I wont ever have to worry about meeting a girl who isn't a 300lb Goth. Did you see my Nintendo Shirt? Gaming rules!

3) I live in a trailer and sell things on ebay. If I get one, I'll sell it to you in the parking lot for...uhhh...$8,000. Cuz they're hot. I also buy property with no money down..

I guess you really gotta be 15 and desperate for "anything different" in your life to want to participate in an event like this. Maybe if they had lines for the Colecovision or something I would have begged my parents to let me stand in line all night, but today the practice is just creepy.....

its like...lining up to MAYBE get a chance at a videogame system? Is there a better definition of the term "DESPERATE" or "STARVED FOR ATTENTION" anywhere in any dictionary? :)

PS: I just re-read this whole post..and its frickin harsh...so those who would flame me, go ahead..I deserve it..but...I stand by what i said :)

well a lot of the things you said above could be also describing a internet forum member making .76 posts a day. Nothing wrong with that in my book

I'm not going to Best Buy to get attention. I just want a damn Xbox 360.

"STARVED FOR ATTENTION"

That's funny that you would write that while posting reasons why you SHOULDN'T line if for an Xbox, in the "Who's lining up for an Xbox" thread.

I know you guys are busting my balls, its ok...I've taken a rather unpopular stance on this. I just find it kinda sad that people would stand in the bitter cold all night long just to maybe get an xbox 360.

Its just a dumb console. Lets face it, your gamecube...your PS2...your xbox...the ones you have in your house RIGHT NOW...those are the former HOT systems. And yet now, you can't be bothered...no, now you guys gotta stand in line in winter to get the next HOT thing.

Me, I'm just playing some old Xbox/PS2 games I haven't touched, enjoying them, and waiting until I can walk into a Best Buy at 2:34pm on a Saturday Afternoon and just buy a frickin system and a few games right off the shelf. Screw this waiting in line stuff.

For what...to play PGR3 or Perfect Dark? I dont think so.........plenty of good alternatives to those games on the "last generation" systems......

Yes, we all want 360's....but I find the whole standing in line thing to be pathetic. Its like.....I mean sure, if you're totally wasted.....and doing it as a goof...what the hell, I'm all for it. But the guys who line up all serious...who want to get on TV.....its like oh brother man...gimme a break.

Like I said tho...I'm older than alot of you I'm guessing (35)......my time is worth more to me than burning an evening standing outside a store.

Personally, I figure in another 10 years there wont even be Brick and Mortar stores to stand in line in front of....as it is brick and mortar stores come and go in a span of like 5 to 10 years.....stores that used to last decades now last 3 years and close up shop. Shopping is a lost art ;)

Should I go to my Costa Mesa store which has 84 units, or a smaller bestbuys with less units? Anyone in the OC area gonna go to this one or ones near it?

I'm 31 and I disagree with you although I see your point. I think it's a fun experience and you get to meet other huge nerds that share a common interest. Plus, you can turn around and eBay it for twice what you paid and then use the money to get a "free" one in the spring. :D

What time did you go and start lining up? How many people were there at that time?
