Voice Chat Feature on PlayStation Home Resumes

Posted by Abigail Murphy // PR Manager, PlayStation Network
PlayStation Home update 1.05 is scheduled to be released on December 22. With this new update, users will be able to use the voice chat within their personal space and clubhouses to communicate and share with friends online.
By clicking on their PlayStation Home icon on the PlayStation Network column of XMB, users will be able to update PlayStation Home to 1.05. Users who are online with PlayStation Home will need to log-off and click on PlayStation Home icon.

You can use voice chat on 1.04 but only through "Calling". I wonder with "sharing friends online" could mean group chat. I'd like to my set friends and no random butting in.

Is it only me, or have other people been experiencing problems trying to log in. I haven't been able to get in since it went to open beta. I've deleted and re-downloaded it a couple of times now with no luck.

Ya people have been experiencing trouble logging on.

Anyways NO Red Bull Space this year. Dude Sony is out here struggling with this service

Ha! Asked a few Japanese players what they thought of Home while playing Burnout. I'm not sure why I expected the response to be different, but no, they don't seem to like it. Not the ones I played with anyway. :p

with as weird as messed up as you can be/act in Home I would have thought Japanese peeps would be more into it

I think Japan likes it. Log onto a Japanese PSN account and log into Home through it. Its neat to see what they have, and the place is crowded in a few buildings they have.

Wait, I thought Home was location locked, not region locked.. meaning if you log on from the US on your Japanese/HK account you will still see the US version of Home.
no. if you have a euro account you'll be in euro home even if ur in the US on a US system. same for Japan.
Cool, I'll have to try the other regions, then. :)
This post at gaf made me laugh:
is that one of those middle age man/corny guy bluetooth headsets on the hovering guy? really sony? really?
Has anyone been in today? I'm wondering if there's a Christmas tree in the central plaza or anything like that.
There's a unconscious Kaz Hirai covered in rum egg nog.

Haven't logged on the US home but JPN has a big xmas tree and snow. I think the HK has one too but odd US doesnt "(if there's none).
Hmm..is Home gonna be the Wii Fit of the PS3? The majority of people stop using it after a few weeks?
Except unlike Wii Fit, Home is certinaly not selling consoles.

Or more likely, they'll use it as new content goes up.

I do hear the first 10 minutes of the Resident Evil: Degeneration movie are streaming in the theater. They should do that with more movies.

Also, it was reported that Home made more money in sales (from little items) in its first day than the video store made in its first week.
I don't have the link with me, but it was reported by the PSN director. I'm sure its easily found.

Seems like Home has made a splash with the casual crowd. I certainly haven't bought anything....... yet.
Must be a sigh of relief for Sony that it's making money.

With all the time Sony has spent on Home, even though it is free for people to use, I doubt they are seeing a profit on it just yet.

I never said profit.
Right now, they're making money with the in game items, and people seem to be interested.

That's how you start.

Yeah, it's been playing for about a week now. Good luck seeing the screen though. I swear there's always a group of 20 people in there whose soul purpose for being in the theater is to stand directly in front of you and try to curse or say racist stuff. (you just see bubbles filled with ******)

Yes it is. She even went into more detail explaining it is the classic 80/20 model. 20% of people bought 80% of the stuff in the store. They are going to make boatloads of money off that 20%. I also believe she said the best selling item was the Santa suit and that biatch is like 5 dollars

You mean there isn't an option to "click" the screen so it balloons up on your screen to avoid that? That's an obvious feature, Sony. What a waste of resources Sony.

You can go full screen. You just have to click X when you are close enough.

On a side note I think it's time I delete this and get my 3gb back.

I actually like logging into the Asian Home better.. more locations and the "game center" is better and not as many people running around so it's easier to play games.

I can't imagine anyone cares but I checked out Home yesterday and nothing special was going on. The only thing different was that there was a sign that "Happy Holidays from our Home to yours". Something I did notice though (unless I dreamt it) .. I had to download update 1.5 but when I went in to different areas in the game, I didn't have to re-download them. So that's a step in the right direction. Unfortunately I still wasn't able to keep my echochrome gear from the last time I was in, however.

As per HowStern I guess you could go to the screen. I never tried it though in the theater because I thought the whole point was to sit in the chairs. I know that if you see a screen in the bowling alley or mall you can walk up to it and click on it to make it full screen.

^ Yeah, the thing that makes it a pain in the ass in the theater is there's always a hundred people in front of the screen so if you press X it will bring up their little menu thing of their name if you can't get close enough to get positioned right to the screen.

Brief thread derailment ...

I'm in the midst of reading Too Fat to Fish. Good stuff. Although that chapter about his dad was hard to take. I had a headache from holding back the tears.

Tell me you finally made it through American Psycho!?!?!?

Even if there's weren't people standing in a group dancing in front of the movie around the dude dressed as a girl avatar, then you still wouldn't be able to see because of the people who want to full screen. You should be able to full screen from your seat but NOOOO..

Ha no. I don't even have the book yet. It's just been sitting in my Amazon wishlist for awhile.

Tell you what skip the next clearance game and grab it with a 30% off coupon at Borders. Especially since you like the character I am guaranteeing that you will get more enjoyment out of reading American Psycho than you would with some mediocre clearance game.

Or we are going to have to start taking collections around here...

Ah, yeah haha. I want to pick up Artie's book but I keep thinking to myself that half of it is going to be absolutely depressing while the other half will be stories I've heard on the show already. :p

I, also, told myself after seeing American Psycho that I would read the book. But never did :/ Then I thought "Well, I'll definitely read Rules of Attraction" and ended up just watching the movie of that too. :( Dawsons creek as Sean Bateman lol. I guess Patrick is actually in the book but he was only mentioned in the movie for a second.

Huh? Was there a sequel other than the garbage that was American Psycho 2?
wow is it me or did this thread just get more interesting than home.
Reading books > Home

Hmm...maybe Sony should have some sort of tv e-book service on the PS3...
