Man, I don't wanna piss anybody off, but I've gotta get my thoughts out after a day with Home. Home is freaking awesome!!! Maybe I'm just easily amused, but I had a hell of a fun time just running around and doing awkward stuff infront of people. Seriously, this is what The Sims Online SHOULD have been. 5-10 years down the road, this thing could basically be the freaking Matrix! Seriously!
You can do things that are socially unacceptable in real life. Nothing vulgar or hurtful, mind you, but just creepy things that are hysterically funny within the context of this world. I know Second Life has been around a while, but this is more user friendly. For instance, some chick was dancing up on top of a brick wall area, and I just walked my character over, and due to the wall, her ass was right at eye level. I just stood there, about a foot from her ass for like 5 minutes, as though I was at a strip club. Hilarious!
Another comical moment actually happened to me. I went into the theater to watch the Uncharted trailer. I sat down, in an empty row, with 2 seats on both sides of me. A couple minutes later, a guy walks up and sits in the seat directly next to mine. Instantly, real life thoughts kick in. "Does this guy have to sit right next to me?? There's plenty of empty seats! It's not even crowded in here!"
Then, I started wondering if he did it on purpose to see if I'd get up and move. As I was contemplating this, another guy walked in and took the seat on the other side of me. I just found that scenario to be hilarious. Can you imagine if there were bathrooms with urinals in Home? I seriously want to be able to kick a guy's ass for pissing too close to me! Things that are completely ridiculous in real life should be what Home is all about!
I played a few games of pool, bowling, and some of the arcade games. They all need some tightening up, but they're all fun. Pimping out your apartment and summer home is awesome! I just have a terrible feeling that once the official launch gets here, they're going to be charging real money for these items, and that would kill it for me. Sony has to recognize the difference between DLC and a new recliner for your pretend apartment.
Other than that though, this thing has the potential to be the best real life simulator ever made...and that's not even taking into account its strengths as an interface for the PS3. Meeting up with friends, making new ones, and launching random games is going to be really cool and easy. If Sony beefs this up properly, I could easily see it surpassing Xbox Live as an online community. I can't wait to see how this thing grows!
Even if this post is pure sarcasm, I love it.
