SoulCalibur IV - (10.17.08) - Vader/Yoda DLC set to release on 10/23 [400 points]

I had slight input lag in a couple matches but nothing like that. Damn.

I think I'll pick up the DLC pack with teh music. Because I like music a lot. And I have these nice speakers to listen to it on.

I'm hoping they've got remixes or something of the original SC's music, since that was easily the best soundtrack.

Tried some online last night and got immediately trounced by some Setsuka player in a cat mascot suit. I don't have much experience fighting her, though. Also trying to guard impact + lag = :[

It's kind of ridiculous that you have to create a whole new customization if you want to use a different weapon in standard versus. I doubt I'll be using many of those fabulous joke weapons now.

Also, is there a way to create a customized version (with different equipment, not just colors) of one of the stock characters using the 1P outfit as a base? For some reason it always starts me off with the 2P costume and I can't figure out how to change it.

I'm hoping for good CAS stuff...I kind of wish I had got the LE version because I dunno if the stuff on there can ever be unlocked any other way.

How far have people gotten on the Tower of Souls? I'm like at floor 35...or something like that.

EDIT: No, you're stuck using the 2P as a base for customizations. Namco hates. I know you can use the 2P parts for anyone (After you beat Arcade or Story with said character) but not the 1P ones.

I think it is... it's either SC1 or SC2 music.

I'm on floor 57. computer gets really cheap once you start to get to floor 40.

I cleared ToS ascending. Some are pretty brutal.
How far have you guys gone in the descending ToS? I'm not even sure if there's an end to it.

I'm on the 49th floor. Once you get towards the top, you have to start making/using specific characters.
Not with lag...lol

Tried playing against Kilik with Talim and every time I pressed A, it'd take like 3-4 seconds for the move to come out...while my foe just wails on me. This was on a four bar connection...pfft
Same thing happened on my first online play. I was playing against someone I knew I could beat but ended up lossing due to the fucking lag. The funny thing is even with the 3 second delay it still came down to the wire, and I could tell he didn't have lag. So I guess it must be my connection.

Unlocked everyone except 1 character. The Apprentance wasn't hard at all, but I did train a lot with Yoda before hand.

I think people start mashing as fast as possible when they realize there's lag (actually, it seems like half the people mash online anyway.) I'm not sure how peer-to-peer works, but it seems like it wouldn't be possible for one guy to have lag and the other not.

edit: I don't seem to be getting any players through the online match up thread, so I'll post my xbl thingy here-- mamesj.
A bunch of you were on my list before, but I cleared off everyone but people I knew personally at some point (since I hadn't played anyone else in months.) Feel free to add again.

The CAG Tournament of Souls

Hey guys, i'm going to organize a tournament sometime this week for CAG. But since my xbox broke the day before it was released (fuck!) i've got a few questions.

1. Your able to play 1 v 1 with someone on your friends list right?
2. Can you play 1 v 1 with your custom characters also?
3. How is the lag 1 v 1?
4. Are there lobbies or anything?

And to decide the setup of the tournament, some opinions i'de like from everyone:
1. Would you be fine with a best of 3 matches or 5? (3 rounds in a match)
2. Timelimit or no timelimit?
3. Would you want custom characters allowed or only default characters/weapons?
4. Do you want to switch characters every round or pick 1 character at the start and can only use that character for the whole tournament?
5. How many days do you want to be allowed to have your match? 48 hours? 72 hours?
6. Should any characters be banned? Yoda/vader/algol?

If you guys can give me your opinions on all these things it would be great. The tournament will probably start in a week or so and signups will be soon. Thanks guys.
Does anyone know just how limited these Premium Editions are?
I dunno, but I'm pissed I didn't get it. I'm more into CaS than I thought I would be and now I want a code for the exclusive content. They better release it as DLC or something. Otherwise, I'd paypal someone $5 for their unused code. :)

Regarding tournament structure:

3/5 rounds, default time limit, 2/3 matches for initial rounds, 3/5 matches for the finals.

Winner stays with character, loser has option of changing.

Until they are deemed officially broken, SW characters should be allowed. I don't feel any of them are overpowering as of yet.

72 hours seems like a good amount of time in order to get a match in.

Custom characters should be fine, just no special weapons EVER.

Just my opinions... as a veteran for running real life tournaments, I'd say these rules would be good stuffz.

DLC is out for 360 (I've heard) and right now is only on the Japanese PS3 store. Hopefully that changes today. Item pack is $1 I believe.

Yeah, on the XBLM, there are 19 pieces of game DLC, one of which is a 1200 point song bundle (All the songs individually are 80 points; I think there are 17 songs). The Customization pack is 150 points IIRC.

EDIT:
Customization Equipment: 100 pts.
Music Complete set: 1200 pts.
Music: 80 pts. each (17 pieces; totals 1360 points)
Yes. It's all 17 stage songs from the original Soul Calibur.

Fantastic. Hope it hits the PSN soon. SC1's soundtrack is still the best the series has ever had.

I'll just rip the soundtrack from the first game to my xbox. That seems a little steep for music.

The customization pack seems pretty reasonably priced though. I'll probably get that.

Damnit.

That customization pack is one of those bullshit "keys" where all the data is already on the disc and they're just rippin' us off.

The customization is old school costumes of the main characters.

I was playing with my brother online last night and one of our matches I had lag and he didn't.

Do you honestly think any of the DLC for this game isn't going to be key based?

Did you have the better win record at the time?
Did you have the better win record at the time?
It was pretty close but I think I may have had 1 or 2 more wins.

GGs Chac. You beat my ass, but I think I put a good fight. The room booted me for some reason... I also think I'm going to practice more with Seong Mi-Na.

So DLC comes out 2 days after the game came out. Something tells me this is stuff that should have been on it from day one. I really dont think I will download this stuff.

Yah, GGs to you and Rolento. Rei, we had some fuckin' terrible lag there... like, it felt nigh-unplayable for a lot of that time. I dunno. But yeah, u is surprisingly good.

Rolento, Lizard Man is a beast. I swear, though, the game lags every time you use that one unblockable attack. It's like you stole Apossum's lag switch. You had some legit characters, and there's something very odd about getting a Jesus-look alike in his skivvies that's a little troubling. Did you have input lag on your end during some of the matches. There was one match where there was literally a one second delay between when I entered something and when it happened.

It's weird how this game works online... if you have lag, sometimes one button registers right away, and another takes a second... very strange.

yeah...so...I think Vader sucks really badly. I just beat Arcade mode with the Apprentice in under 7 minutes. With Vader, it took me under 45. I have 15 Honors now. I'm really enjoying it as my first real time playing a Soul Calibur.

I'm kinda upset I can't earn the Honors in Local Versus Mode. Kinda stupid. But maybe I can hookup with some people online and get them (the non-online specific ones of course) because earning Honors gets you Creation stuff (30 honors is where it maxes out though).

45 minutes? Damn.

yeah, lag can be a bitch. pressing a button only to have the attack come way later is odd. my one flaw most of the games against you was that horizontal high to low you started almost all your matches with. It was like a guaranteed hit every time. Then again, I can't tell, but you seem to like playing Kilik >_<

and underwear Jesus is your fault... you ripped his clothes off >_<

in that sense this game reminds me alot of Battle Raper.

well, I didn't play Battle Raper, so I dunno.

And yeah, Kilik is kinda who I play as I think. I wanna get one character down before I start using the new people.

Thankfully, my SC skill is nothing like my Tekken 5 DR skill.

Any more opinions on this? Specifically #4 and #6. Just want to make this as fun as possible.

I just looked at the DLC setup for SC4 on PSN, and I'm so pissed about that. That stuff should've been in the game. It's taking armor for the REGULAR CHARACTERS and making them DLC. Not the special ones, I mean the regular ones, Astaroth, Nightmare, Voldo, etc. That's BS.
