Spock's Star Trek topic
Well, I've decided that I at least want to get all of The Next Generation movies (I already have First Contact). I'm probably only going to buy one a month (because I'm cheap), so I'm wondering which one I should get first.

I'm leaning towards Insurrection.
I think Insurrection was a very good movie. Can't go wrong with that.

Although this is the Trek topic now, is anyone else watching Eureka on Sci-Fi. It's seems interesting so far.

The first episode of Eureka was pretty good, but not great. However it seems like the show has a lot of potential. I'll be sure to watch again next week.

The trailer for season 3 of Battlestar Galactica looked great.

Yes, yes it did. I can't wait.

The Battlestar Galactica Season 3 trailer for anyone who missed it(It has spoilers):

I love the music. It works really well in the trailer.

I did like what I saw of Eureka, hopefully I'll remember to watch it again.

I finally got my sister hooked on some of my TNG books. The only one she ever read before was Imzadi and Guises of the Mind IIRC. I decided to give her all those doubles I purchased by accident. She's already read two of them in the last week.

I'd like to read some myself, however, I still need to finish Star Wars: The Last Command. I stopped reading it when school started last year and haven't been able to want to finish it or find it.

After watching (and re-watching in some cases) most of the Star Trek films here is how I rank them:

First Contact
Insurrection
Wrath of Khan
Generations
Search for Spock
Nemesis

Still need to see IV and VI since those are regarded as some of the best.

My best friend is heavily into Star Wars. I never got that excited about the books or movies. I suppose I should give it another try though. I loved the games though. The early Star Wars arcade game with the vector graphics was cool as hell.

Ever play Knights of the Old Republic? It's orobably my favorite game of all time, I've never been that immersed in a game.

No, I've heard good things about it though. It's what led Bioware to make Jade Empire IIRC and I love that game. I would have kept my sealed copy of Lego Star Wars but I needed the cash.

I wasn't too happy with Lego Star Wars, it became boring pretty fast.

I hope that Star Trek: Legacy turns out to be a good game, I think I might pick it up regardless.

That's a 360 title right? I hope it is good. Star Trek has had some good titles, (Elite Force and Bridge Commander for the PC, Invasion for the PS One, some decent TNG titles for the SNES and Genesis) but they need more. I still play Elite Force quite a bit online.

360 and PC I do believe.

You really should pick up KOTOR, especially if you like Jade Empire (which I liked, but thought was a much weaker game). There's tons of stuff to do, the story is great, it makes you really yearn for the Jedi powers - I can't say enough good things about it.

If Legacy comes out I'm not sure what system to get it for. I want achievements and to play on Live, but I'm sure the PC version will have a ton of great mods (I'm really hoping for a Dominion War mod). Maybe I'll get the 360 version first and the PC version when it's cheap.
I agree with 2Fast. Get KotOR GuilewasNK. It's a really great RPG with good game play and a storyline that's much better then the prequel trilogy.

I just really hope it turns out good. From what I've seen so far, it's going to be either hit or miss. As with most licensed games, the probability that it's going to suck is higher than normal.

Either way, I hope I can be the Borg online

I really hope Legacy is good (and the DS version of Tatical Assault).

A link to the first poster of the next Star Trek movie. I really hope the film does well and we get a new TV series (set post Nemesis).

Have they said definitively what the movie is going to be about yet? I've heard it's going to be about Kirk and Spock meeting or going through the academy, but I really can't envision that being a good movie.

I second your wishes for a new post-Nemesis TV series.

Holy shit, really? How is that gonna work, though? I mean, can you assimilate things/people? Do you gain any stats when you do?

I hope they wait and figure out what they want to accomplish with a new Star Trek series before starting one. Star Trek has been in a creative rut, starting with Voyager (which I hated) and really didn't seem to learn anything for Enterprise (which I didn't hate, but didn't feel like I had to bother with, either).

Somewhere along the line, farting out episodes of Star Trek, no matter how derivative or pointless, became more important than telling good stories or developing characters. Much as I would like to have Trek back on the air, I'd rather wait until they've got something worth watching.
Holy shit, really? How is that gonna work, though? I mean, can you assimilate things/people? Do you gain any stats when you do?
I don't think you can assimilate people since the game is primarily going to be space battles. I was just hoping that I could use their ships (they are definitely in the game btw) in the online portion. And I was wondering that if someone blows up my Borg Cube, can I send out the sphere and travel back in time to before they killed me? :)

Some of the close-up screens of the ships in the game look awesome, go check them out on IGN.

Dude, they need to make a Star Trek game on an Oblivion scale, with every genre represented. I'm talking about an RPG, strategy, FPS, space sim, and puzzle game. It also needs to start with Enterprise NX-01 and run up to at least Enterprise-E, if not farther.

That would really rock, but it's wont happen unless Star Trek becomes as popular as it was back when TNG was first on the air.

...my god, it looks AMAZING!!!!

I still maintain that the plot twist and cliffhanger at the end of 2.5 is one of the best TV season finales of all time.
Anyone have a link to some cool TNG action figures?
I wish I could say I did. I never bought any Trek merchandise other than the movies/games/DVDs/books/comics. I would love to have some TNG stuff though.

I want a Dominion War movie, dammit. I missed out on that part of DS9 originally, now that Spike is pretty much playing them in order, it kicks so much ass.

I agree. Most show play it safe and do the same thing every single season. It takes balls to make major changes to a show, and I respect that. I'm really looking forward to season 3.

I don't really want to spoil anything for you, but they couldn't really do a Dominion War movie unless it was a retelling of the what happened on the show.

http://www.memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Lefler's_Laws

In April 2002, ZENtertainment [1] (a now-defunct, Hollywood news source) reported "Ashley Judd was on Letterman the other night to promote her new movie, High Crimes. Dave surprised her with a clip of her appearance on TNG, where she went on a date with Wesley Crusher (Wil Wheaton). Judd mentioned that she was reprising the role (of Robin Lefler) in Star Trek: Nemesis as Wesley's wife." ([2]

Man, that would have cool if her character was brought back. I remember reading that they cut Wesley's footage at the last second or something.

Even though all of Wesley's scenes were cut, he did make it into a few shots that can be seen in the widescreen version of the movie.
You can see him on the far left side of the table in this picture:
pdvd028lm6.png

I think I read somewhere that Wesley had some lines saying he was going to serve on the Titan under Riker.

I really wish Q was in the last TNG movie. Although Stewart and Dorn say they think that Nemesis isn't going to be the last TNG movie...

Wesley better be in the last one some kind of way. I know most people hate the character, but he is relevant to the series. Q should have some role also. I could see some sort of storyline involving Wesley experiences with the Traveler and some quest Q requests of Wesley and his old shipmates to go on. It would have to be something that is impossible to do without Wesley's skill he gained from following the Traveler.

I never minded Wesley. I enjoyed all the episodes that were centered around him and really wish he was in Nemesis more.

I also hope to see Picard as an Admiral if there are a few more (or a final) TNG movies. Hell, the guy should be the fucking KING of the Federation.

Stewart and Dorn may think there's going to be another TNG movie, but I really doubt it. If Star Trek 11 does well they'll make more movies with young Kirk and Spock and not TNG because they wouldn't want to oversaturate the market. If Star Trek 11 does poorly then Trek will go back into hiatus.
I have to agree with 2Fast about Q. He was such a major part of the series that he should have been in one of the movies.

C'mon, there really have to be more Star Trek fans than Guile, Kaijufan, and myself on a video game website.

Trek fan dothog present.

I don't have much to add to the earlier Nemesis discussion. My wife has no interest in ST, and even she was disappointed in the movie. It didn't take a trekkie to see that things didn't add up in that one. It's a shame because I don't think there will be any further TNG films, and TNG went out like a chump.

As for miscellaneous ST topics: I'm just now starting to realize that all along I had a secret yearning for Dr. Beverly Crusher. (Though I like to refer to her as "Crusha crush." It's a kooky nickname thing we do.) I don't usually go in for pasty redheads, but when she fires up that medical tricorder, I go weak in the knees.

It could have been Luwaxana Troi! :whistle2:#

Crusher and Troi both got hotter with age. They reached their peak in Insurrection, which made me reach for my peak, if you catch my drift ;)

I'm not crazy about being forced to roll Federation, but if they insist, then I think me as an incredibly badass Tellarite tactical officer sounds freakin' hot. However, they list Cardassian as a playable race, which suggests that maybe I don't have to go Federation. I'm sure everybody wants to do it, but I'd love to split off from the Federation and be a renegade, privateer sort of space monkey.

Though I am almost certain that this game will get screwed up somehow, I'm going to do everything I can to get in on the beta next year. The fact that the game doesn't force everyone to be captain of their own ship is exciting to me. I've got a couple of real-life friends who I can talk into playing the game--though they aren't Trekkies, they are online gamers and I'm pretty sure I can suck them into serving on the same ship if the game is worth a damn. It could be lots of fun.

No Borg I'm assuming? It would go against everything to be able to play as the Borg in an RPG and make independent decisions, but boy it would be cool. I guess I'd probably be a Klingon.

I do like the time period it's being placed in (20 years after Nemesis). However, I wonder who the enemy will be. The Romulans are going to be all but members of the Federation, the Federation has the technology to manage the Borg, the Dominion and Cardassians have been dealt with, so who's it gonna be?
Ah, the epsiode with Kamala is on SpikeTV. Famke Jansen=:bouncy:
DS9 is the best series, IMO. The last 4 seasons were some of the best television I've ever watched.
