Star Wars: The Old Republic - Out now!
Grats on 50, Jodou. Even though you've only been 50 for today, does it seem like there's a lot to do? I'm hoping the end game is engaging enough to make you want to play your 50 instead of immediately rolling another character.
At first blush, not really. I mean I've been tooling around on Ilum doing dailies or ganking on other planets while gathering mats for ship armaments so there's the illusion of stuff to do. What is really going to make this game great is the community because our server is effectively SWG incarnate of Bloodfin (old official PvP server). Once people catch up, I can see some epic server wars in the future just like the old days. Until then, there's stuff to do so long as you're having fun but it's a means to an end.

We're already thinking about rolling up some Ops just to go around ganking in rebel leveling zones. Their burst output is retarded and three of us would be instant death. Our server has two hour wait times to get in during prime so there would be no limit of nerds for us to kill.

Short answer: just take your time and enjoy the game. It's very engaging and combat is off the hook in terms of fun. Make the decision yourself when/if you hit 50 because it will largely depend on who you play with.

That sounds like fun and I'm sure they'll be adding lots of end game content. I can only hope world PvP will be alive and well. I never played SWG but some of my fondest memories of WoW were killing lowbies in Southshore then getting multiple raids together for an all out war. I play an Imperial Agent and 3 people backstabbing lowbies would be hella fun.

Mine was fine and I entered it on Friday (From Amazon). I haven't started my subscription as I'll wait until I can no longer log in before I subscribe.
Those of you who have ordered Collector's Editions and are planning on keeping them sealed for resale later may want to read this thread: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=37565

I haven't received mine yet (should be here today). Anybody here have this issue?
That really sucks for CE buyers. I bought two CEs and one Regular. I was going to sell the CEs I had them preordered from two places and wasnt sure I was going to keep them but then the value went so high I thought I would sell them. I don't want to open them and check for a key.

On another note, so far I am loving the game. Anyone who wants to part up I am on the Giradda the Hutt server. My character name is pROvIs. I am a Jedi Sage.

Wow, another blunder for SWTOR. Thankfully my CE I got from Amazon was completely intact and included my CD Key. I can't describe how pissed I'd be if it was missing the CD Key.

Anybody know if one had preordered a regular edition but found a CE and used the retail code for the CE instead of the regular edition would there be any problem with playing with that?
Anybody know if one had preordered a regular edition but found a CE and used the retail code for the CE instead of the regular edition would there be any problem with playing with that?
Shouldn't be a problem. The preorder codes all stated standard edition. They aren't tied to your key in any way. Some of the online retailers do state that if you cancel your preorder your bonus code will be canceled though. But as long as that doesn't apply to you there shouldn't be any problems.

On another note, if anyone here from CAG wants a collector's edition, I will sell you one at retail + Shipping. Otherwise I am selling it on Amazon.

Perhaps the CE isn't that limited? Walked into Best Buy this evening and saw four copies just sitting there, and Amazon has them in stock again.
Perhaps the CE isn't that limited? Walked into Best Buy this evening and saw four copies just sitting there, and Amazon has them in stock again.
Probably cancelled preorders or something. I imagine there's a few people who preordered and cancelled just to get early access.

The CE was sold out before the game came out, so unless they printed extras so they would be in stores at launch, I'd say that's what it is.

Although, buying a game to resell it is a douche move and a poor investment, so I laugh at people who feel "screwed" by this.

4 copies at my bestbuy also, picked up one.

Hey guys I asked in the other thread but I just want to make sure...

I opened my Amazon CE and the only code inside is the registration code (in the steelbook). Is that the only code I should have?

Thanks

Yes.
Yes.
Okay thank you. Sorry for double posting that I'm just not familar with how this works.

Excited to start playing though.

The "winners" are the ones that were able to flip theirs for $250+. The rest can always just return them.

Has it already been 2 days? subscription isn't working anymore :( tempting to put my code in already but there's too many things wrong with the game

I'm really suprised that people are having such major issues with the framerate, I have all of the settings defaulted to high @ 1680x1050 (ish, not at desktop check actual resolution, I know its 1600somethingx10something :p) and it runs silky smooth the entire time.

In any event, I am playing a Bounty Hunter and loving it

I only had issues with Taris and it wasn't due to settings as when I turned them down to test it, I was still having the same exact issues. Managed to fully beat the planet as I was grouped, but the game crashed at least half a dozen times in the last area and I had numerous other issues.

How the hell can their servers be this overloaded on a Thursday morning? Those of us who have already entered our CD keys have to register a CC just to play again? This is fucking retarded. Been waiting half an hour just to log in their site and enter a time card EVEN THOUGH WE ALREADY GET 30 DAYS PLAY TIME FREE. Unbelievable.

Every MMO I've ever paid makes you have a valid payment on file (game time card or CC#) in order to use the 30 days "free" with your game purchase, so it's not that unbelievable.

It is when they force you to wait every fucking time you click a link. I finally got to the website, clicked on sign in and guess what -- back in queue to log in. Bullshit.

Probably too many people trying to create accounts all at the same time. Some estimate that they've already sold 1.5 million copies.

People with really good graphic cards and everything STILL get bad fps sometimes, the beta ran VERY good but there's something wrong with the official game :( It's not all, it's just a bunch of people

I honestly have a feeling it has to do with video drivers not being updated... my setup runs flawlessly, even though its quite modest by today's standards (Q9550, 4gb Ram, Radeon HD 6870)

I updated my graphics card, lowered settings, shadows off, windows mode etc. Turned off aero on win7, performance power option, nothing running in the background.

what else can I do? I only get great fps when I restart the client many times but since there are queues, it takes awhile. It's like, I have to get lucky to get good fps -_- beta ran perfectly though

Well I do have to update to service pack 1 for win 7 but I gave up trying to do it because when it downloads it, and starts applying it...it goes to 99% then forces to restart. then it keeps going over and over and always gets an error at 99%.

Have you guys ever been to a popular MMO launch? Doesn't matter how big the beta or anything was there are always massive problems for the first month. Look at WoW ... game was unplayable the first month it came out.

I miss old WoW :(

2 hour server queues, hours on end of grinding mobs to level, blood virus decimating servers, ok that last one was kind of cool actually but

Random framerates... thats a bit odd. Have you checked your RAM usage when you turn the game on? Did a little quick google-fu and it seems that some people are having similar issues with other games, but all of them are reporting using an Nvidia gfx card... are you?

I'll do a bit more investigating into this if I remember to when I get home (on break at work atm).

I want to buy this, but apparently Origin doesnt want my money as they arent accepting purchases using Paypal. GG EA.

Or they could just, ya' know, allow people to use Paypal like every other website in the history of the internet.
Or they could just, ya' know, allow people to use Paypal like every other website in the history of the internet.
You can actually use Paypal to pay for your subscription, so don't know why there is a disconnect between Origin and SWTOR website.
You can actually use Paypal to pay for your subscription, so don't know why there is a disconnect between Origin and SWTOR website.
I think he needs to buy the actual game, which he needs to do from Origin if he wants it digitally.

Nothing's stopping him from ordering at Amazon though.

If I get the retail version as a gift, can you download the game and activate it through Origin with the CD key or do you have to install it manually with the discs? No DVD drive kind of makes that a deal breaker for me.
I have a retail copy of the game that I have only opened to get my cd key out of... So yes, you can download the client
Is the client download in SWTor.com website or Origin? Me and a friend was discussing this earlier since he is in Asia and it is currently not available there, I could pick him up a copy here in US and email him the CD key..

You still need a key from Origin or retail. The Old Republic website will let you get the game client, but you can't purchase the game on their website.
What's wrong with a box?
I haven't purchased a boxed copy of a PC game in years. I prefer to download my games rather than purchase a boxed copy is all.

The Blood Virus was the best world event ever ... I wish Blizz would learn from it's players and implement this stuff to purposely happen.

YEP!!! I had to do this, i went and bought retail copy....and when you sign up on swtor.com you have to enter your code. it will say (download game client now) BIG DOWNLOAD THOUGH. like 20 gb. Enjoy the game.

There are times when swtor.exe has 2 running in the task manager and it could get to 1.2gb usage...
Mine is actually NVIDIA GeForce 9400M

This game is starting to feel familiar, doing dailies and queuing for WZ's lol. I really love this game, but once we clear EV I'm not sure this SP game has the staying power it will need. I just hope once Ilum starts getting busy that the lag won't be so awful that it ruins world pvp. Right now we've made reb alts just to flip control points for the daily/weekly it's so slow. We need more hardcore players on the other side. :\
I haven't purchased a boxed copy of a PC game in years. I prefer to download my games rather than purchase a boxed copy is all.
Buy the box, take the code out, scan it and email it to yourself. Then throw everything away :D
