Group Buys - Updated 05/20

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff
There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.
Past Special Sales
Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:

Okay, I think I'm finally done. My haul is now:
Oddworld: Strangers Wrath, Indie Fright Pack, FEAR Complete Pack, P.B. Winterbottom, Prince of Persia: Forgotten Sands, The Witcher: Enhanced Edition, Bully: Scholarship Edition, Overlord II, Monkey Island Bundle, Shank, KOTOR, Rush, The Ball, Greed Corp, Guardians of Graxia complete, Zeno Clash, Half Life 1, Lucasarts Jedi Knight Bundle, Grotesque Tactics: Evil Heroes, Frozenbyte Collection, Killing Floor Outbreak Pack, Evil Genius, SquareLogic, Tomb Raider Anniversary.
Grand Total of $92.05

And looking at it now, wow this sale really got me. Oh well, now my PC backlog matches my console one and I payed far less for this one.
I missed Oddbox at $12.50. Should I grab it at $18.74? :(
From what I've heard, Strangers wrath is a pretty buggy port. Which is a shame because the game is awesome on the xbox.

Broke down and made my final purchase for Pirates! and Super Meat Boy. Thanks everyone, and enjoy your gaming. My total came out to $92.25 for the sale, or 1.5 xbox games (also known as 30+ steam titles).

Winter Voices does look interesting. Has anyone played all the way through any of the episodes?
I like the last day because I start digging through the

Well, Im in for
Winterbottom
Tropico 3
Alpha Protocol
Killing Floor
Crysis

Not Bad, I think Im pretty much done, although Im debating Sid Meirs Railroads
Can anyone let me know how Dead Space PC is? I have it on PS3 but I play my PC a lot more often than my PS3 now that I have a high end PC.
It's very good on PC. The graphics are killer! Control works well, although is mapped a little odd on keyboard. I ended up using GlovePie to remap keys (no option in the game menu) and turned off v-sync (I think -- it's been awhile) to make aiming less floaty. Otherwise great deal for under $7!

Funny because I'm hoping to play it soon on PS3.

Well, since 'everybody' is doing sale recaps, I'll add mine. The list is rather short:

Amnesia: The Dark Decent 6.80
P.B. Winterbottom 0.49
(thses two I've wanted since I first heard about them, just was waiting for a good price.)

Lucas Arts Jedi Knight Bundle 5.00
(really only wanted Jedi Academy just from chatter. Mostly an impulse buy)

Sam & Max The Devil's Playhouse (Season 3) 17.49
(Kinda pricey, but I got seasons 1 & 2 for free so I kinda feel like I 'owe' them a buy. Plus I *just* finished season 2 so now I can continue the story).

Total spent: $29.78

does anyone know if you get all of the radio stations for the gta episodes in gta 4 complete or just the episode ones because everyone is saying that you need to download and start them seperate from gta 4

Here's mine:

Valve Complete 2009 Pack (for $25.00 - yay)
Winterbottom
Witcher: Enhanced Edition
Blue Toad
Monkey Island : SE Bundle
Flatout Ultimate Carnage
Batman AA: GOTY

Total of $46.73.

I was going to list everything I got during the sale, but then my internet went out and it disappeared when I tried to post. I'm not retyping all that, just imagine "way too much".

i kept telling myself i didnt need anything during this sale and then i broke down and bought the gta iv complete pack. curse you steam and your incredible prices!!!

Showed a lot of restraint during this Holiday Sale because I bought over $100 of games last year. I pasted on some games that I will regret but there is always next year.

Caster $0.99
The Wonderful End of the World, World in Conflict: Complete & Hitman: Blood Money $22.47
Zeno Clash & Half-Life 2: Episode Two $4.94
Shatter $2.50
Battlefield Bad Company 2 Standard Edition $6.80
Batman: Arkham Asylum GOTY $7.50
Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising $3.00
Winterbottom $0.49
Total: $48.69

Hopefully no recommends any games that I missed for a good price that I can still buy. :)

My haul this sale season in order of price:

PB Winterbottom
Shattered Union
Caster
CivCity: Rome
Judge Dredd: vs Death
Railroad Tycoon 2 Platinum
FlatOut
Project Freedom
Evil Genius
Everyday Genius: SquareLogic
Puzzle Quest:Challenge of the Warlords
Overlord 2
Rush
Flight Control
Ziro
FlatOut Ulimate Carnage
Clones
Greed Corp
Company of Heroes
Sid Meier's Pirates
Commandos Collection
Grotesque Tactics: Evil Heroes
Serious Sam HD Pack
Guardians of Graxia
SimCity 4
BF2 Complete Collection
RailWorks 2
Civilization IV complete
Battlefield Bad Company 2
Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY

Total: $80.23
Average Price: $2.67
Median Price: $1.87 (so half the games were less than $1.87)

Now on to the hundreds of gaming hours this will bring :)

Yeah, being a cheap ass gamer, I try to get at least 30 cents an hour for games on average. Steam makes it easy to keep track of.
Actually the DRM on Ubisoft titles was just changed from what I read earlier this week. Their games will require an Internet connection on start up, but not a constant connection thereafter. I believe it was mentioned recently on Kotaku or Joystiq.
False info people. The Ubisoft Always On Internet DRM is still there, with every 5 min check (Jan-1-2011)

Check this recent post on Steam

I try to get 10 games per .01 cent. That is the ratio I strive for.

My goal this year is to finish all the games I bought this steam sale.

Will have a recap shortly.

So far I bought:

Half Life Source 1.49
Doom Pack 8.74
Devil May Cry 4.99
Battlefield 2 4.99
Resident Evil 5 10.20
The Witcher 5.00
FEAR 1 2.50
FEAR 2 5.00
Bad Company 2 6.80
PB Winterbottom .50
Super Meat Boy 3.75
Mass Effect 2 9.99

So between the steam sale and the amazon sale (got condemned and Stalker 3) I ended up spending around 70 dollars. More than I wanted to spend, but I just bought a new graphics card and some other shit for my PC so I figured I might as well splurge.

Let's see, this is my final haul:

Super Meat Boy
Battlefield Bad Company 2
Bully
GTA IV Complete
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. bundle
Half-Life Anthology
Half-Life 2 Episode Two
Civilization IV Complete Edition
Torchlight
Overlord pack
Monkey Island Special Edition bundle
FlatOut pack
Frozenbyte Collection
Tropico Reloded
Railroad Tycoon II Platinum
Plants vs Zombies
The Ball
Zeno Clash
Flight Control HD
Magnetis
Blueberry Garden
P.B. Winterbottom
Indie 2D Pack
Indie Adventure Pack
Indie Beat Pack
Indie Brain Pack
Indie Fantasy Pack
Indie Fright Pack
Indie Future Pack
Indie Smarts Pack

82 games for the grand total of $119.75, I spent a lot more than I initially intended to but I don't regret it. I'm done spending anymore money on PC games until the next big Steam sale, whenever that is
As far as the hitman games go. If I was only going to get one would Blood Money be the best one to get?
Yes, by far ... definitely the best in the series imo. The biggest problem with the first two isn't that they aren't fun, it's simply that the AI is incredibly cheap and can basically sense you from anywhere ... making it much less fun. Blood Money finally got the balance right, actually allowing you to do most things without ridiculous AI. Contracts was just bizarre .. and really dark.

Oh and Blood Money has some of the most memorable levels I've ever seen in a game ... there's a couple suburban levels that are great (and I believe a first for the series) as well as a Heaven and Hell party at a Casino with one part located in the basement and the other part at the top of the hotel ... great stuff
False info people. The Ubisoft Always On Internet DRM is still there, with every 5 min check (Jan-1-2011)

Check this recent post on Steam
I believe the post from Kotaku said they were beginning to roll back the DRM and had already done so in ACII and a few others .. not sure how that's false information. But then .. I don't really understand all the butt hurt DRM people in some of these forums anyway. Some of you are constantly online in order to bitch about it in a forum, so why don't you just go play the damn game and save your time ;)

Gifts for a Friend:
Left for Dead 2
Half-Life Anthology
Portal
Team Fortress 2

For Me:
Killing Floor
Team Fortress 2
Half-Life 1 Anthlogoy
Half-Life 1 Source
Half-Life 2 Deathmatch
STALKER
Plants vs. Zombies

Spent about $46...almost exactly what I won at the casino this past weekend! Good sale!

Okay, I'm making my final run. Scratch game lottery tickets kindly paid for most of what I bought this sale, so I'm adding another 11 games for 30 bucks (having just talked myself OUT of the commandos and tropico packs as games I won't really want to play)

Right now I'm getting Killing Floor, Evil Genius (which was great fun when new!), Samarost2 (at half the price of it's bundle, since I have / don't want the rest), Bluberry Garden, Lucidity, Winter Voices ep 0 and 1, Republic Commando, Caster, Runaway, and something called Greed: Black Border which I never noticed before today. It looks like torchlight, but sci-fi, and with co-op, for $2.50.

So add to that 5 Prince of Persias and the Future Pack, for $22.
The overlord bundle for $3
Sam and Max Season 3 for $10
The final Borderlands DLC for $5
Serious Sam Second Encounter HD for $5
The King's Bounty bundle for $9
The ball, Amnesia, and Greed Corp as gifts I haven't claimed yet for $15
Far Cry Complete for $7.50
2 Company of Heroes for another $7.50
AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! for $2.50

Gifts Given: Witcher, Torchlight, Borderlands, Pirates ($22) and Bully + some Railworks DLC ($5)
Gifts Received: Zuma's Revenge, Everyday Genius

So that's about $117 for around 42 games for me and another $27 in gifts given. I managed to not buy anything between last holiday sale and well, the treasure hunt this year. I'm pretty sure I'm done 'til next year's sale.

Whew!

I guess my list ends as such:
The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom $0.49
Amnesia: The Dark Descent $4.80
Indie Fright Pack $4.99
Monkey Island Bundle $3.75
Tales of Monkey Island $8.75
Total: $22.78 for 10 games.

I kept my impulse purchases to a minimum this year. I still have games left from last year, plus I got the Humbe Indie Bundle 2 for myself and my brother. But I still bought:

The Misadventures of P. B. Winterbottom
FEAR Complete Pack
Sword of the Stars Complete
Super Meat Boy

And Torchlight for my brother. A nice simple haul. :)

Final haul:
Super Meat Boy: $3.75
Serious Sam HD Pack: $3.99
-------------
Total: $7.74

Yay for getting off easy, I think I spent around $100 last year. I guess I already have all the Steam games I want :)

I also recommend Blood Money, it's the best (even though I like them all to pick) and the last level is way too fucking epic.
From what I've heard, Strangers wrath is a pretty buggy port. Which is a shame because the game is awesome on the xbox.
They claim that they're working on fixing the bugs with the ports, but who knows how dedicated they are to that. At this point I'd say wait and see if they follow through on that before buying.

bought:

Indie Fright Pack
The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom
and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. bundle

for $10.17...i was really hoping the Doom pack would go on sale again as I missed it last time, oh well, i'll just wait until the next big steam sale...
Here's mine:

Valve Complete 2009 Pack (for $25.00 - yay)
Winterbottom
Witcher: Enhanced Edition
Blue Toad
Monkey Island : SE Bundle
Flatout Ultimate Carnage
Batman AA: GOTY

Total of $46.73.
damn you!! I wish I'd jump on that Valve Pack for $25 when I first saw it :applause:
Steam molested me and I didn't object to it.

/cry
Holy backlog, Batman!

Wanted to take a sec to recommend both Sid Meier's Raildroads! and Pirates! at 2.49 each. If you think you may be into either of these games I can just about guarantee you will get your money's worth.

I got:
Half-Life Complete - $5.99
EG: Square-Logic - $1.50
Arcadia - $1.70
Star Wars: KOTOR - $2.49
Super Meat Boy - $3.75
Indie Beat Pack - $4.99
Winterbottom - $0.49

For a total of $20.91

I might get another one of the Indie Packs, but I'm not sure yet. Not too bad for my first Steam sale.

Alrighty then, I've built up a decent backlog:

Arcadia
BF2 Complete
BF:BC2 (got Vietnam for $5 from the EA Store using a RecycleBank coupon, and a couple other games for free)
SquareLogic
HL1 Anthology
HL1 Source
Winterbottom
Monkey Island 1+2 SE
Oddboxx
Overlord Complete
Quake Collection
STALKER Bundle
Serious Sam Double Pack
KotOR
Witcher EE

Still waiting on better discounts for:
Dragon Age Ultimate
Oblivion GOTY Deluxe
Fallout 3 GOTY
NWN2 Platinum

And to think that out of my purchases, Bad Company 2 and KotOR were the only ones I was actually waiting for.

Just picked up killing floor complete. Anyone have it and play it? Pretty new to the game so i don't know what im doing. My steam name is TFSPIKE

My Total is $75.74. Made some judgement calls (Empire being that already own it without the DLC or Napoleon plus I bought Rome to get the Alexander expansion) and some downright impulse buys (Bioshock 2, Puzzle Quest, Jedi Knight Bundle and Republic Commando) and some stuff I really wanted before the sale started (The Witcher, Claptrap DLC to complete Borderlands). I passed on Dragon Age Ultimate Gambling that it will at least be that price or be lower about time I wish to really jump into it. Overall great sale!!!

My Haul
Indie Kids Pack - $4.99
Star Wars Republic Commando- $4.99
Jedi Knight Bundle - $5
Empire and Napoleon Total War complete $19.99
Rome Total War $7.49
Flight Control HD - $1.70
Altitude - $2.50
Battlefield 2 complete - $4.99
Borderlands Claptrap DLC $4.99
Puzzle Quest - $1.50
The Witcher - $5
Bioshock 2 -$7.50
Stalker Bundle $5

Bit on Fallout 3 GOTY since I am planning on going through that one next. Hopefully winter break will give me the chance to finish a bunch of the smaller games I picked up along with FO3.

I'm not taking the time to make out a list, but my total steam library has gone from just under 300 titles before black friday to 450 even today. Yeah...

Any recommendations for the entire Indie Kids pack? Considering just picking up Toki Tori a la carte for 1.25 instead, as it's the only title there I'm dead set on getting, but if the others are at least decent I don't mind throwing more money at it.

Just a question for future reference (I'll still make the purchase regardless):

With GTA IV Complete, is the DRM for the Episodes 15 installs then you're SOL? Or is the Complete pack different?
The reason I ask is because on the Complete Edition page, the DRM says unlimited installations, but when I go to the Episodes page, it has a 15 install limit. I'm thinking maybe the Complete Edition shows up as one item in your library, and thus there is no install limit. Am I right in assuming this?

Empire/Napoleon Total War
Jedi Knights Packs
Stalker Bundle
Hitman 2
Crysis Complete
Mount and Blade Warband
Doom Pack'
Serious Sam Pack
Cossacks Back to War
Guild 2 Renaissance
Arma 2
Patrician IV |waste of money :(|
Humble Indie Bundle
Battlefield Bad Company 2
Patricians and Merchants Pack
Grand Theft auto EFLC

That gives me a total of 122 steam games :), If anybody is up for playing anything on steam ill play, I got a lot of games and always lookin' for someone who wants to play a match. Steam: Cornkrise
