Pubg is actually pretty dang fun. Maybe it's because it's all new to me since I never did dayz or h1z1. Got first once, chased a naked man into a bedroom and two of us beat the hell out of him, saved a friend by knocking down the guy punching him in time for him to reload his pistol and shoot me in the face then fall off the roof. Surprised at how much fun I've been having.

As much as I'd like to regret purchasing and playing PUBG in a similar fashion to Rust, the lack of optimization in games like that just kills it for me. Rust actually ran somewhat decently (when they weren't breaking it with updates), but hearing how people with 970s still have to run it on low tells me it's not something I'd touch with a 10 foot pole.

PUBG runs alot better now than it did with the recent update, but even then I'm running mostly Very Low settings on a 1080 gpu and 1600 OC'd Ryzen...getting 50-120 fps

It will run better from the next update, but that wont be for a week or two.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the "do everything but make the game run well" first mentality that most survival MMO devs go with. I still remember when I asked about optimization on Miscreated and a dev actually called me a liar when I said I got 50-60 FPS on GTA V on med to ultra settings.

If these kind of games were ever finished, at which point they may get around to optimizing things, that would be great. The sad truth is that these games are never finished, so you're pretty much paying a near AAA price for a game that will never run like it should.

Wish that wasn't the case, because they're fun games to screw around on, but I got tired of it after mucking through games like Rust, Micreated, and Ark.

I never finished Darksiders 2... got bored slogging through stuff.  Also the Four Horsepeople of the Apocalypse?

Star Wars Complete-the-Set price was lowered, ~93% depending games you miss. ($18,13€ if you own nothing)
Did you ever hear of the tragedy of Darth Madjoki the Wise?
I thought not.

It's not a story a Jedi would tell you. It's a Sith Legend.

I went and activated a couple of spare Star Wars keys I had on Humble, and it lowered my total to $4.83. Too bad I'm broke as hell right now and can't complete the set, heh.

When's GOG Connect coming...?

May the 4th, one would guess. But this year or not? Difficult to see. Always in motion is the future.

Hmmm.  $7.13 for the following Star Wars games to complete my collection.  Are they worth the cost?  That is just over $1 a game unless you completely discount SW Clone Wars RH since it sounds pretty bad.

STAR WARS™: The Clone Wars - Republic Heroes™

LEGO® Star Wars™ - The Complete Saga
LEGO® Star Wars™ III - The Clone Wars™
STAR WARS™ - X-Wing Special Edition
STAR WARS™: TIE Fighter Special Edition
STAR WARS™: Rogue Squadron 3D
STAR WARS™: Rebel Assault I + II

The LEGO Star War games are good, if you like Lego games. Clone Wars was the only one with certain minigames (almost a beginner RTS).

X-Wing was a very good game, but I honestly have no idea how well it really aged.

Rogue Squadron was also a really good game, but no idea how well it really aged.

Do all of the old xwing and tie fighter games still require a joystick? Loved those games as a kid but I don't really want to have to buy a joystick just to play a 20 year old game again. I can't remember the last time I even saw a joystick in the wild.

Jedi knight - yes, if you feel like completing the collection, but you'll probably never play it over something like JK2 or JK academy

Lego star wars - yes if you like lego games

xwing/tie - These were some of the first games I played and I really played the hell out of tie fighter. They dont hold up as well anymore but are still alright. Theres actually someone working on a mod of a completely redone engine and it makes xwing look pretty great: http://www.pcgamer.com/star-wars-x-wing-xwvm-mod-video-shows-off-updated-visual-effects/

Rogue - never played, but its from the n64 era and is probably like starfox if it were in starwars. Hopefully they add rogue2 at some point because that actually has pretty good visuals and gameplay from what I hear, but it was also only on gamecube

Rebel assault - only played the arcade version back in the day. I cant imagine this holds up what so ever, its fairly janky. Its either avoiding obstacles or shooting at wierd FMV-esque troopers.

Empire at war - great RTS. I think it uses the AoE3 engine or something similar so graphics are fairly good. It also has some grand strategy elements where not only is it on the ground normal rts missions but your conquering planets as you go and collecting resources in a galaxy map

Miscreated runs a lot better now than it used to. Not sure when the last time you tried to play. I fakey'd it back when russia was still the world leader but I went a year or two without playing because when I first tried to play it I could never connect to a server (which was a common problem). Started playing it more when it was bundled with Reds and Jimbo and loved it. We need to go back to it.

about the Star Wars Collection bundle, apparently Humble-generated keys are not recognized by the bundle. It said I am missing 13 titles but when I counted, I was just missing 7.      :wall:

Strafe is up for pre-order for $15.xx at Gamersgate.
you can also buy a physical collector's edition with all sorts of 90's crap.

or ps4 disk copy w/ steam key included.
Boy, I hope the trendiness of roguelikes fades soon. Procedurally generated levels and permadeath do nothing for me. Otherwise Strafe looks neat, I wish more games would emulate early, blocky 3D graphics the way pixelated side-scrollers are churned out.

Oh it was a hell of a long time ago. Before they even had containers, right after base building was introduced.

And yeah, for as much of a mess as it was, I really enjoyed it. Not sure how it is now, but people actually played it a bit more realistically and didn't just run around killing anyone who moved. Out of a handful of player encounters, there was actual vocal communication, tension, and cooperation (along with some violence, but that's unavoidable). And I only ever ran into a hacker once (aimbot snipe from a mile away on me and two other people within seconds, lol).

I'd probably give it another try if some others wanted to play.

Agreed. Especially since so many of them end up feeling like they're half finished games, slapping on procedural generation and permadeath rather than having planned levels, progression mechanics, and some sort of actual narrative throughline.

Seriously, with so many of them it just feels like they get halfway through designing a really good game, and then say "Ok, that's good enough."

I think they took the basebuilding out, but not sure if they've put it back in. The map has expanded too. We played in mostly dead servers by choice and never had any PvP issues. Not like The WarZ AKA Infestation.

I'd be up to playing this game if someone wants to give it a shot again, it has gotten a lot of updates since we last played it but it is fairly well optimized now. I don't think the map is as big as some other survival games but thats probably not a bad thing since by the time you explore everything you'll probably be burnt out from it anyways. Between the smaller map and less crafting its a lot less grindy than other survival games.

That's strange, my Galactic Battlegrounds Saga, X-Wing Alliance, X-Wing vs Tie Fighter and Rebellion Humble keys activated and were recognized by the bundle without issues.

That's too bad. I actually really liked the base building. They did a good job of making things really look like half-assed planks thrown together and it wasn't the overly perfect structured base building that you find in most survival games.

Is there really much to do on empty servers? Because back when I played, the zombies/mutants were few and far between and barely a component of the game. No real danger and you rarely saw them, so everything was pretty much dealing with players.

Yeah, I definitely enjoyed the non-grindy nature of the game. Even if you got ganked and killed, it wasn't complete hell to get equipped and ready to rock pretty quickly (even before there were containers to keep your shit, though I have no idea how that all is now anyways).

I've never actually gotten to play the base building, which sucks, because it looked cool in the YouTube videos I saw. On empty servers the game is scavenging. With how long it usually takes to get a car running, driving around and exploring without fear of death is a nice reward.

Brodate:

Last night we played Tumblestone and despite the hype, it's not as good as Tricky Towers.

It's a match three game where different colored stones tumble down the screen. It only had three modes. Puzzle Race had you trying to be first to finish a predetermined puzzle. Battle has you trying to outlast your opponents and be the last man standing. Tug Of War is the third mode, but we never figured out the gimmick.

Modifiers allow you to mix things up a bit, but you have to unlock them in single player so we were stuck using the modifier of the day which just gave us headaches.

Overall, not bad, but we only lasted 1.5 hours, whereas we lasted a full two in Tricky Towers and Reds even requested it to be scheduled again.

Scavenging and driving is amusing (that was in the game when I played), but what danger is there honestly in an empty server? Did they change the mutants or anything?

Republic Commando is a solid shooter. Empire at War is an entertaining RTS (with seriously unbalanced forces, which Petroglyph seems to have done on purpose as a nod to the lore). I can't speak to much of the rest. You probably already know whether you like LEGO games or not. I have serious doubts about the rest of those things aging very well. I'm pretty sure Republic Heroes was terrible when it came out.

Everyone probably has Hacknet by now but in case one of your moms still doesn't have it:

3%4IV-%%FCI-JG4H0

% = the first letter of the first word in one of the better walking simulators, which in turn is one of the finer genres of gaming that exists. This particular walking sim also contains a word in the title that would be familiar to fans of the original Bioshock, which is an okay game. This particular walking sim is also full of shimmery glow ghosts. If you haven't guessed already, I'm talking about Ether One.

I actually didn't have it but was able to snag it. I appreciate the drop, now I'll give it a go and see how it is!

Considering the genre is not really made anymore X-wing and Tie FIghter are likely enjoyable even without having played the originals... If its the games I remember the Rebel Assaults are likely unplayable now.

In other news Rocket League is sponsoring/adverting on WWE programing right now so I guess wrestling isn't off topic anymore... lol Honestly, anyone know whats going on with RL right now that they would be adverting on TV? (I looked around on Steam but didn't see anything.)

Oh, and since I already mentioned wrestling I throw this out there... I got to see Kenta, Tommy End, La Sombra, and Bobby Roode in a tag match live and in person this week... Never thought I would be able to say that while living in Kansas City.

Well, Reds still manages to die pretty consistently from thirst or starvation and there's always babysitting him or engaging with the zombies if you want. I suck at the zombies, but Jimbo could put them down pretty easily. The big hulk like zombies are tough unless you run them over with a bus. I actually like the game without a lot of PvP to worry about because I like the exploration and scavenging. The server wasn't totally empty, but the map was big enough that I don't think I ever ran across a random.

As a fan of rogue-likes I can agree with this sentiment. It's not the fault of the genre... some games are just poorly made. Procedural level creation is just fine if it's done well, but so often it is not. Hero Siege, for example, does random level generation very well -- it never looks as if it's just random pieces jammed together in uninteresting ways. When it's not done well it's lifeless and boring.
