Looks like SkillUp and MrMattyPlays did not care for it that much.
Yeah, and as MMP mentions in his video it seems the preview that was played a few weeks ago (which a lot of people were cautiously optimistic about) was cherry picked moments from like the first 75% of the game and the rest of that 75% was a disappointment. It's sad that this is what Bioware has now become known for. My hopes for the next installment of Mass Effect are at an all-time low.

Classic-BioWare's dead. Probably just all that left's a shell and husk (ME pun not intended) of its very own self, by now; been dead for probably long-time. When many might feel that time began - eh, up for debate. Some could cite maybe DA2. Some might even cite DA:I. I dunno - but, the true point when most might agree across the board for sure is probably either ME:A or Anthem.

Most of the Classic-BW staff left by DA4 Original Version (Joplin version) got axed. Even Mike Laidlaw of all people left, after that got cancelled; see the Schreier article on Joplin version (OG version of DA4: DreadWolf, which was supposed to be a Big Heist also) and Morrison version (aka what we know as DA4: VeilGuard). David Gaider, Drew K, Casey Hudson, Jennifer Hepler, Alan Miranda, Trent Oster, The 2 Founding Doctors, Mac Walters, and I'm sure there's even more these BW names (I think it maybe was The Quartering LegacyKillHD that covered the LONG list of people from BW that left over the years, I'd have to dig around again) - is anyone even left there, except maybe say Mark Darrah?

As for Mass Effect series: I like Mary DeMarle (from Eidos-Montreal and their Deus Ex HR and MD games a lot and also Guardians of the Galaxy Action-RPG). Her on a game will give me some hope, since she's working on ME5 - but...again, most of Classic-BioWare seems to be gone, so...I dunno. [shrug]

EDITING NOTES - We'll have to wait and see on ME5 probably, if BW even gets a chance to still do it (depends on probably DA:VG's sales and EA) and see what Mary DeMarle and ME5 team crank-out. As for who did the list of people that left: it was LegacyHDKilla, not Quartering. So, fixed and edited that up too.

Larian is da captain is Bioware now.
In spite of all the personal identifying anyone wants to attempt with random old Bioware employee names from 1998. ;)

Larian is so NOT Classic-BioWare.

Maybe Larian's the top CRPG company now for many - but, they're often still very different.

Larian does turn-based, not "real time" with pause gameplay. Also, Larian's tones are often more lighthearted, funny, and can be off-the-wall - BioWare is often dark & more serious, just peppering in some humor here and there; esp. in DA games.

I went ahead and bought Mostroscopy at 50% off ($10), which matches the historical low from last August or so. Dunno if anyone else follows Matt McMuscles, but he and Justin Wong played it in a youtube video earlier this month and it looked pretty good (and they both seemed to like it). It’s an indie 2.5D fighter themed around 50s Mexican luchador/horror flicks, with most of the fighters being some sort of supernatural/paranormal entities. Simplified controls compared to most 2D fighters, somewhat Smash Bros-ish. In terms of general tone, it’s got big Darkstalkers energy, with a dash of Guilty Gear.

It’s been out about a year, and it’s still a bit barebones in terms of modes—training doesn’t even have the option to set the opponent AI to fight you—, but it feels really solid from a few casual playthroughs of story mode. Seems like the devs are still actively working on it, they released a new update a couple weeks ago that added the story mode, and there have been new characters added since the initial release. Really charming aesthetic and pretty good animations.

Mostly I’m talking about it because I wanna support the devs, so ignore me if you want.

I played Dysmantle on PS5 for many hours, but didn't get any of the DLC. I'm considering buying it all on Steam while it's on sale. But the price adds up, I don't know. Might wait and see if they ever make a bundle with all the content included. Right now it would come out to $26 Canadian for everything, that's outside of impulse purchase territory.

Dysmantle is such a fun game. I have all the DLC, but haven't played through it all yet.

Looking forward to seeing what they do with Dysplaced.

Why the jittery fuck would you not put Fatal Frame 4 on sale for Halloween, Tecmo Koei!?

Well I was still debating this purchase, thought that the sale was on til Nov 7th. But the sale is over, so maybe next time. Hopefully it'll be even cheaper then.

In an unrelated note, I finally bit the bullet on ordering an AYN Odin 2.

I've down sized my other emulation-based handhelds and determined I like bigger screens, better batteries. While I still love the Steam Deck, the Odin 2 using ARM is much more efficient and will likely be my new PSP, among other systems.

And emulating Dreamcast, let alone anything older, is a breeze on Android these days... unrelated, of course.

New limited edition white steamdeck OLED is coming out on Nov 18th.

I abandoned Intel CPUs ages ago (5 or so years ago) when the prices where so much higher than comparable AMD CPUs. Where I was working at the time we started building AMD workstations and when I upgraded my own I decided to go with AMD CPU especially since there were some special going on at the time (oh I miss Microcenter). I wish I could quit NVIDIA as a GPU maker with their outrageous prices but AMD and other manufacturers are not there yet IMHO.

Hahaha I need to upgrade so bad. This may be a good generation to look into that. The 9800x3D is going for almost $500 on some sites. Maybe I'll look at the step below that.

Currently rocking: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790K CPU @ 4.00GHz :ROFLMAO:

Yeah, you're desperately in need of an upgrade. I had an i7-6700K from 2017 to 2023 and even with an RTX 3070 Ti in 2022 I wasn't getting the performance I'd like with some newer games. Once I upgraded to a Ryzen 7 7700X last year, though, the difference was night and day for me.

If you live near a Microcenter and they're not out of stock they've got some bundles with the 9800X3D+mobo+32GB DDR5 memory for around $700.

I guess I'll chime in and say evaluate cpus for gaming relative to your card. The reason those 9800x3D reviews all isolate benchmarks on 1080p resolution is to reach a threshold in which results actually reflect differences in cpu performance in observable ways. Dropping $500 for a 9800x3D makes sense if you own a 4090 or are fully onboard the high end of the next line of cards.

I currently use a 3090 Ti overclocked to 4080 performance levels. I could drop in a $160 cpu in (13600kf) and experience the same gaming performance as the 9800x3D going at 3x the cost.

As an overclocking hobbyist I'm happy to see the 9800x3D provide some headroom that had been largely abandoned during past generations of the Ryzen line. Steps in a positive direction, and certainly superior to Intel's $400+ products, which make even less sense.

I'm about to upgrade from a 3600 to a 5700x3D. Even though I'm not on the best of the best GPU (a humble 6750XT) but I'm expecting some serious gains in my 4x games

For some of us, that's a dream. I don't know why microcenter doesn't open more locations, I feel like they'd blow the competition (or lack of competition) away
Shockingly my one coworker said they just opened one in my area. which was a surprise to me as i didn't even hear anything about it. As normally a new business is big news in my little rural area. We Dont have a McDonald's or Walmart and have to go to the next county over.

So it's possible they will slowly expand. I do need a new pc eventually but there's no way I'd afford anything for right now. Maybe if I keep up this overtime for the holidays.

lol I'll be starting from scratch. I'm still rolling with my GTX 970 which is surprisingly serviceable. Mind you I've been hoarding sale priced games long enough to play a decade behind the rest of the world. I've squeezed every available drop of gaming possible from my ancient rig.

Ugh, dont get me started. People who should know better are just gushing over the greatness and "value" of the 9800x3d. Some of the same people who say gpu performance matters more so spend more on the gpu than the cpu. This is after we've seen all cpu's drop 40-50% in value within 1-3 years of release.

Best bang for your buck right now is the 6 or 8 core chips around $175 to 250. Basically the AMD 7600/7700 chips and the 12700k from Intel. That or you find a good deal on the 7800x3d.
