It's best to pretend the App Store in Windows 10 doesn't exist. Why the hell would I want to play Asphalt 8 on my PC when there's Burnout Paradise on Steam, which isn't straddled by mobile fremium design elements.
But then what else am I supposed to be outraged about on the internet?!?

Seriously you nerds, it's fuck ing solitaire, AND it already was the freemium xbox version in windows 8. Spare your pitchforks for the groupees thread.

I should create a VN called "Murder-Babies Murders". You'll get to choose the path: Are you a baby who commits murder or are you tracking murderous babies? Maybe do it Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy style and have you follow both track simultaneously....
thanks.. now onward to start my new RPGmaker game and release it on Poopees (with promise of Steam key) :whistle2:

I hate seeing cool deviant, new weeaboo games under new releases, only to click on them and see the dreaded RPGmaker tag.
Unity shovelware is atleast as big of a problem, if not an even bigger one. But shovelware does mean the PC platform as a whole is very strong, as was the case with the PS2, Wii, and DS, the console shovelware kings. Now Steam has risen to another echelon of crapware, standing tall as shovelware emperor.

Disagreed. Bitching about this takes precedence over stupid Groupees choices, as monetizing basic games like Solitaire that come pre-installed is just wrong. It's the YouTube effect--at first, the ads were optional, then they became more prevalent, and now there are at least two ads on every page, and the videos auto-play so you get even more ads. And let's not forget the privacy issue of every ad knowing the last five items you looked at on Amazon and what your favorite category of porn is.

And you can't even BUY the premium version of the game. You have to keep paying a subscription fee. Imagine if you couldn't buy Pinball FX2 tables, but instead had to pay a subscription to play the table. Probably not that far off from happening (although I like the Zen Studios guys and hope they would jump ship before letting Microsoft do that).

This is like going to a restaurant and finding a dead bug in your meal, complaining to the manager, and the manager saying, "For $9.95 we can remove the bug and serve you bug-free food for the next year."

I've got an HD 5850, sounds like W10 is right up my alley, haha.
HD 6570 here. I've been meaning to upgrade, but it works.
HD 6870 here. I would like to upgrade but like you said it works fine.
Mine has a 650Mrunning fine
I may need to wait it out since I have a GTX770 (regrettably since the 970 came out shortly after I bought it). You guys running Nvidia cards?
Looks like MyD needs to visit the Amazon Warehouse Deals thread and explain VRAMS to the kids.

I bought a 770 well over a year ago and have yet to find a game that I want/play that taxes it at 1080/60 fps.

inb4 Arkham Knight.  Never mind it's optimized for shit.

Just don't tell me that the GTX770's 2GB VRAM isn't enough for Windows 10...
Lol, the joke is that MysterD posts his dissertation whenever someone starts talking about graphics cards. He's got a fifth sense for it (his sense of humor is broken).

What about AC Unity?

That's another one like Batman AK that's poorly optimized & at higher settings just eats VRAM up like crazy at 1080p.

EDIT:

Should read "Dissertations."

Damn typo.

I typed this quick.

Jokes aside, I just don't game on my PC much at all (the most-taxing game I play is Dishonored), and I've not had the money for a new card. It's about 7th on the list of things to buy, once I start my internship in a few weeks. Plus, my dad's a wasteful mother and was going to throw away his perfectly good Phenom II quad and board, so I took them off his hands. I'm going to put those with my old 4 GB of RAM, and when I get my new HDD and graphics card, I'm going to get a cheap case and a PSU, and turn it all into an oversized HTPC for the living room.

I'm in much the same position with an R9 280 bought around Xmastime.

I've not dropped below 60 FPS on Wolfenstein/FarCry 3 on High settings. I could probably push Ultra, but I'm not sure it bothers me that much.

The reality is that a top-end GPU is a waste if you're not playing the latest/greatest FPSs all the bloody time.

Win 10's system requirements ain't too much different requirements than Win 8, TBH.

Look here:

Funny...I wonder if Creative Assembly will be trying to showcase Windows 10's DX12.

I'm not going to lie...War Thunder doesn't do much GFX and other games I'm actively playing on my PC like Legend Of Heroes: Trails FC and Ys VI take...well it's true - a toaster can run it these days.

I'd be curious how Far Cry 4 runs at Ultra on your R9 280, if you eventually do buy that.

BTW - which VRAM amount on your R9 280? 3GB? 4GB?

Well, you know Microsoft would keep Win 10 requirements low so almost anyone can run the damn thing.

It's going to be interesting to see how many game-dev's will optionally also support DX12.

It'll also be interesting to see how dev's just flat-out only support DX12, kind of causing some gamers to jump to Win 10. Could happen, if enough gamers do have Win 7 + 8, see a big title, and decide "Gotta upgrade for free to Win 10 just for that title."

VRAM

Win 10 doesn't care about that.

Win 10 only wants a vid-card that is a DX9 card supporting 800x600 or better.

This makes sure those buying or owning low-end PC's, laptops, tablets, etc that might have Win 7 (or above) can run Win 10.

If you're worried about VRAM + what card you should run - go check from game-to-game what those you're interested in officially require & recommend; and what gamers running these games on any online gaming Forums might suggest.

Pyro Pete in UVHM is about the easiest source of crystals. As much as I love solo play, group boosting/grinding/farming is really the best way to avoid frustration. If only you knew some people that were avid BL2 players that would be willing to help...
My save isn't on PC.

But in good news, I just got 2 Shams in 2 successive runs of BNK-3R. FIrst one was a 73% absorb, which sucks, but the second was 88%. Might be able to beat Bloodshot Stronghold on UVHM now.

Zero interest in Ass Creed games so... who knows. It ran Dying Light well enough. I look at the upcoming releases for the next year or so and there's little I see that I'd bother upgrading for until the Pascal cards are around $300ish for consumer/enthusiasms... enthusiasms... models.

I'm sure a 770 can run Killing Floor 2 just fine. Same for Fallout 4, Grim Dawn... I dunno. If you find a handy list of 2015-2016 releases that look heavy on the graphical side I'll give it a look over.

I suppose there's Starrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Citizen! But that thing is currently mired in scam/development hell with Roberts adding new crap every other day and dragging out production time.

I think this is it. This is the point where the goddamn genre jumped the shark.

Anyone else get the new 4.0 version of Metro for Steam?  Haven't had much chance to play around with it just yet but at first glance, it seems like a very attractive update, apart from the additional VRAM requirement.

I'd be curious what you had Dying Light & Grim Dawn set at.

1080p w/ 60 FPS, I'd maybe guess?

Question is - what overall graphics settings. Low? Normal/Medium? High? Very High? Ultra?

Star Citizen looks like it could be great - if, you know, it actually gets polished & gets out of development hell. I worry that this game won't be polished and might be trying to do too much.

High at the very least, possibly Very High. I disable stuff like Bloom and Depth of Field and a few other post processing effects because they make games look horrible. The big killer in Dying Light was the detail distance setting which I dialed down to no visible degradation (or if there was, I certainly couldn't notice it).

Well, let me know, son! Aside from the 61 Siren I have a 42 Commando and 41 Gunzerker. Right now I drop in games when I see headpiece playing. If you have characters in the high 30's/low 40's I could join up. If you have lower level stuff or dudes around 50 I could get on my 61 and do Dragons of Destruction so youz can haz sweet lewtz.

I currently have a full set of level 72 characters. I could gibbed down to whatever level easily enough. Alternatively, I could help boost you, headpiece or whoever to 72 (level upgrade required, of course). I'll try to hop on later today/tonight.

The 460 would definitely be an upgrade. But, what's your budget?
I mean, I don't have a set budget. If my current set up could support a nicer card then I wouldn't mind saving up for something. I would prefer to stay under $200 just because of my cheapassedness. I saw the 280 3GB for $150ish the other day.

Show off!

Done and done. I expect a MysterD rant in response.
I'm not sure how much power a 960 requires but Nvidia-wise that's probably your ceiling. There's also the 750ti. The 950ti is currently in the works but probably won't be out for another several months.

Fake/real edit: If you can afford it then the AMD 280 is the better option.

There's so many options for under $200 that would be a significant upgrade. I'd try and narrow down a couple things... AMD/Nvidia, 3/4+ GB, new cost effective tech vs. older/cheaper tech, etc.

Edit: But, yeah, unless you don't mind frequent cheap upgrade, I'd probably start my search with a 760 or R9 280. Both being big steps up from a 460 and the latter being available with 3GB as you noted.

Gibbed is weak sauce, Neuro. People giving themselves 102301293102 health at LV 20 is not cool.
660 hours and 18+ playthroughs for BL2. Reverse gibbing is perfectly fine in my book.
