Probably the casual Steam users. There's a reason why they repeat the same fucking games all the time in these sales and they still sell like crazy. There's plenty that won't have it.
I amazed that Skyrim frequently STILL shows up in the top selling games list, even when it's not on sale! It's been out over 3 years on sale a kajillion times and it's not an obscure game. How the hell do people who wanted it on the PC not have it by now? Are they buying extra copies for their dog?

Just blame MysterD. He wants all the Skyrims.

People double dip. I just grabbed my 6th iteration of Mass Effect 2 yesterday. That still counts as double dipping, right?

God, I hate people sometimes. I give up on this redittard

I keep hearing this same complaint and it drives me bonkers. Seriously, why is lack of your own self control to not be able to say no to doing optional things you don't like somehow a fault of game design? It's like as gamers we've been zombified into having to do everything in a game and then get resentful about it.

You know what happens when you eat too much shit at the Old Country Buffet? You get a stomach ache. And maybe diarrhea too. Learn to have some god damned moderation people.
I think my opinion on this has evolved somewhat in the last few years. I probably used to be one of those people who felt compelled to do whatever I reasonably could in an RPG, but Kingdoms of Amalur and Skyrim changed my mind, especially once I worked my way through the main quests and major sidequest lines. Like MysterD, I think I've reached a point where I'll either play a game to the point where I decide that I'm finished or play it until I decide that I feel like taking a break for a while and then coming back to binge on it a bit more.

The thing I don't understand about these complaints is not that the people are bitching about there being "too much to do." In a way, I understand that sentiment, although I also agree that you simply don't need to do everything. CD Projekt RED designed entire areas and quests that would not be seen or played by a good chunk of The Witcher 2 players because they made one or two different decisions from other players when there were binary choices to be made; frankly, I think the game was much better for it (I confess I did go back and replay those branches too, but, hey, I really enjoyed the game--although I thought the combat in 1 was better). I also think it's great when developers respect their audience enough to create vast, believable and immersive settings for their games--as long as ample direction and ways to get around those worlds are given. What I don't understand is why people would bitterly complain about excess content but still actually play it. I fully concur with you on that point: as I always say, if you're not having fun, you're doing it wrong. Why play standard FedEx quests if they're boring and you hate them? As long as the game isn't forcing you to do it to advance, a) it's clearly not grinding and b) there's no reason you should feel compelled to do it. The only justification I can see for this is if people are just OCD. Otherwise, it's just like griping about not getting those 15 multiplayer trophies or achievements for that one game because you don't like multiplayer.

I bought a new wireless mouse for my dad on Monday from Amazon (we'll call this Order 1) for delivery today, his B-day. I'm looking for UPS guy at his normal time, 12 to 1, so I can get the package and wrap it before I make my way to parents' house this evening. I see the big ugly van zoom right past my dwelling so I go to my account to check the order. Nothing on the main page about a delay so I pull tracking and see this:

Undeliverable : Returned

Sorry, your package was damaged in transit and will not be delivered. Please go ahead and replace your order. You will be refunded for the original shipment within 2-3 days business days after we receive it.

It made it 1 state over, yesterday, and some ass-hat probably backed over it, and now I won't get it. Nothing from Amazon, though, no
Are you near Texas? I heard that prison bus that skidded off the highway and killed 10 people landed on a UPS freight train car and basically cut it in half. Those poor packages.

@Warren

I think the person's complaint might be - the main quest is harder in difficulty, if the person doesn't do those certain MMO side-quests they are not interested in.

@Motoki

Here's another question - is DAI's difficulty adjustable at any time while in game?

If "yes" - then the person can always drop the difficulty if he's having problems on the main-quest, so that person can avoid the MMO-style side-stuffs.

If you any of you played the previous beta of Evolve, keys for the upcoming closed beta are being emailed now. I just got mine. Its a pre-load now, doesnt launch til the 16th. No, that's not what he's saying. If anything people complain you tend to get overleveled if you do a lot of sidequests.

The difficulty is variable, unless you care about two of the Origin achievements where you have to play on hard or nightmare and never drop down until the end.

It's not the level that is the barrier generally but this mechanic of requiring certain amounts of power points in order to unlock the main quests.

There's lots and LOTS of ways to get it though so I have difficulties believing that someone truly can't find some side quests to earn that without becoming completely bored. If you really don't want to drag some guy's druffalo home or put flower's on some guy's wife's grave then don't. Go close some rifts or something and just get some quick power points that way. Or do some requisitions. Or whatever. There's really no shortage. At one point you even get access to a merchant to buy those points via buying influence. And there's a really cheesy way you can game the system and exploit it so it doesn't even cost you anything and you can just keep buying and buying them if you really want to do it with zero effort.

It's not hard to come across those power points and you certainly don't need to do anywhere close to everything to get enough to unlock main quests.

Nope. It shipped from AZ to CO. No need for Texas. Sucks for those boxes, though

You're assuming the top selling games list is true.

When I was a teenager, I walked into my local comic book store one day. The owner kept all of the recent stuff just sitting out on long folding tables. I was walking along the table when I see a placard next to a comic stack. "Limit 2" it read. I looked at it, turned to the owner and asked if that was a joke, cause the comic sucked. He agreed the comic was bad, sold poorly, and he had a whole box of leftovers he was trying to unload. Hence the "Limit 2" sign by it. Sure enough, he sold them all within a couple weeks.

I wouldn't be surprised if Valve offered certain publishers the ability to buy Top Seller spots, or at the very least manipulates the algorithm that determines those spots to favor certain pubs/titles. The general public is going to assume truth in advertising, and if a game is a top seller it must be good, right?

Like how the fuck is Garry's Mod still in the Top 10, two weeks after it was last on sale for the 50th time?

So, in addition to the Namco sales that look like they end tomorrow, Nuuvem has Life is Strange - Complete Season for roughly $12.11 for those considering FakeCAGing it. Not sure if there's any region lock issues, however.
Can't wait for this to come out && be reasonably discounted!

Already FakeCAG it from GMG. ^_^
When did we stop Snakeybroing? FakeCAG feels so Forced.

Besides the terrible name that makes it sound like a Grape Simulator minus one letter, it's a (primarily) multiplayer indie game on Steam. How many of those are good and not a ghost town?

When it's not on sale, the number of people playing is not high, so don't expect the current spike to last.

That being said, I bought it anyway so don't listen to me. :p

Dude, this is going to be so exploited..... what are the Steam devs thinking? This must have been the Zimbabwe crystal shard economy team again.

Garry's Mod has a HUGE community and is one of the most-played games on Steam. It's highly moddable, and the workshop is full of active content providers. YouTube videos featuring various game modes, like the popular Trouble in Terrorist Town, reach thousands to millions of views.

It's a sandbox in which there are lots of games to play. It doesn't surprise me that it sells well, even without being discounted.

Yea, Im aware there's non-german, didn't think it was needed to be mentioned. And yea its similar to Bioshock Infinite as well.

This sorta shit:

No, not like that.

In this one, the more people preorder, the more bonuses are unlocked. This happened with Dead or Alive 5 too, as more preorders were bought, more bonuses (unlockable costumes) were given to everyone. But Rockstar is fond of giving people more stuff for preordering early, which is just goddamn awful. Someone who preorders the game right now will probably get more bonuses than someone who does it a week, or a day before launch.

Then again this is Rockstar so we probably already own all the preorder bonuses - except GTA5 DLC packs, of course.

Apparently you -will- get extra copies of games if you already own them, which is... unusual for them. That GTA5 Tier 1 Preorder has OnPurchaseGrantGuestPassPackage applied.

Uh, what you described is what the example I posted did lol

"Rewards unlock as more people pre-order"

What we really need is a way to selectively hide activity feeds. I've got a few annoying groups that like to spam my feed with all kinds of ridiculous crap, but I follow them because they are holding promised keys hostage. :twoguns:

Edit: I meant it as a joke, thinking you were talking about BGCQ. Then I realized you meant groups like IG, and it became no longer a joke.

Dirt 3 Steamworks patch coming soon...ish! With cards! And the Mac version! And ALL DLC!

I can however tell you that we'll be upgrading you all to the Complete Edition free of charge, we'll be adding Steam Trading cards and if you also happen to own a mac we'll be making the mac edition of DiRT 3 available to you as well. If you own a boxed copy dig out your CD key and keep it safe as you'll need that to redeem your Steamworks copy when the update goes live.

Sadly though, Dirt 2 will not have GFWL removed.

Yeah! I finally found someone willing to sell me an extra Cryostasis Steam key without jacking the price up to Holy Hell.

Oddly enough it was Panda P.I. that guy who had a bunch of his music featured on Groupees. Small world I guess?

Anyway. Boobies anyone?

Honestly I don't think selling spots is the case at all. If you look at the top sellers, a lot of them often make sense. They tend to be newer popular games (right now games like AC Unity and Evolve are in the top ten), games that are just always popular and we know sell like crazy (Counter Strike, Dayz) or games that are on sale currently. If spots were being sold you'd be seeing games that are legitimately crappy occasionally pop in the top ten. A game like Skyrim it makes no sense to purchase a top ten spot, the game sells itself, it'd be a waste of money. Also I had an initial reaction regarding Garry's Mod during the Steam sale, until Flowette shared a story about how another site he frequents everybody in the forum was freaking out over how excited they were Garry's Mod was on sale. I don't understand it, because I thought everybody who wanted that had it by now (like Skyrim). But with games that popular, there are always going to be people who are either just starting out w/pcs, just got a pc that could play the game, or somehow just missed previous sales, etc.

Really it's not surprising at all when Skyrim gets into the top sellers during a sale when it's featured. I'm guessing the games of comparative popularity probably sell similar copies throughout a sale, and simply being featured is more than enough to vault a game into the top sellers. I've kind of learned that as a CAG my buying habits and expectations of what should be a top seller is probably completely different than what is actually being sold at any given time. We all know this based on what the top sellers typically are, what games are typically featured, and what games win the community votes during sales.

Huh, I thought it was really just the spiritual predecessor to Source Porn Film Maker.

...did I strikethrough the wrong word there?

I finally ended up saying fuck it giving on the damned key and unsubscribing from the Grass Simulator group because I couldn't take that kid's (I sincerely hope it was a kid) constant stream of spam BS announcements.

Ok, the funny label for reviews is really damn helpful. Listen, you guys are some funny mother fuckers, but sometimes I need an actual legit review of a game, not overused memes. But now we can properly organize these jokes from the real reviews.

the other day at work I heard my super pronounce meme "mee-mee" with a straight face. tripped me out considering she ain't that old (candy crush commercial old lady style)

You don't find it helpful to have twenty people saying some variant of "Opened the door and a guy shot me. 10/10 best game ever"?

I don't know what I was expecting:  Fanfare?  Achievements?  Badges?  ... Golf claps?  However, I just made my very first purchase from Stream, and it was Bad Rats.  I think the only thing I should expect now is the onset of buyer's remorse:
