The Division beta should be starting any minute now...  Hit me up via steam or uplay if your interested in teaming up. (INMATEofARKHAM on both platforms.)

If you all don't see me for a few days...  Note I'm liking having fun and not dead. :)

Fallout 4 (PC) thoughts.

So, last two days or so, I'm in the 10 hour ballpark of FO4. Not sure what to make out of the game and all, though. Some changes, seem for the better. Some, not sure that I like at all. Some...well, I'm not so sure at all.

This is the best shooting combat ever in a Bethesda game, without a shadow of a doubt. This embarrasses Fallout 3 and FO: New Vegas, as it does feel more in line with combat from an Id Software FPS game. VATS feels like since it no longer pauses the game entirely and now instead runs in slow-motion, I have to make much snappier decisions on which enemy and what body parts to shoot.

What happened to the RPG elements? No more working to get your stat's actual numbers up to 100 for Skills like Guns, Melee, Speechcraft, Explosives, etc - as most of that either got thrown out the window or moved over into the Perks section. Everything now seems to live in the Perks department.

Maybe it's because I'm not too far into the game or something - as big as this game feels, maybe that's why it feels like I've barely scratched the surface here - but it really seems like most quests either have less outcomes or seem to have only 2 different types of morally good responds with maybe another option a sarcastic jerk who'll still do something morally good, which may or may not have different outcomes to the quest, game-world, and game's ending - It's like no matter what, seems like there ain't much different pathways. Where's the evil decisions gone?

I absolutely loved the game's intro - from the intro video to whole immersion with the bombs dropping, it was pretty great. Well...for the most part, since the game does one thing that really seemed too quick + rushed and/or doesn't seem to have enough depth to it, storyline-wise and character-wise:

Killing your spouse off. While it's a good set-up and all, it just seems rushed and there hasn't seemed to be enough videos, audio-logs, flashbacks, or anything of that sort to make me care too much that my spouse (Nora was my wife, since I chose to be a male character) got killed off so quickly.

Of course, I don't really expect Bethesda's brand of writing dialogue, character-development, narrative, and storytelling to be anywhere in Obsidian's league (the team that did FO: New Vegas). Regardless, you'd still wish Bethesda could and would do better and actually get some good writers in their Studio.

Performance + graphic quality seems to range here. I don't like the VSync's forced on and with it now off via video-card software for NVidia Control Panel + with a 58 frame cap via MSI Afterburner, the game seems to run MUCH-MUCH better. Graphically, this looks to be best thing Bethesda's put out so far here...if that's really saying much, TBH. Still doesn't seem to be in the league of AC:U, AC:S and some other modern games. Most stuff's here on Ultra; and a few things on High now at 1080p. Game doesn't look spectacular, but it doesn't look absolutely horrible either. I wish internally in the game-engine, there was more options than just FXAA and TXAA (since TXAA can cause blur and other nonsense, which means you need to either externally use some other AA via video-card or other means like SweetFX; or combine TXAA in-game with some other AA outside of the game).

That's my thoughts, for now.

JUST JERKIN' YER CHAIN!!!! SHINE ON YOU CRAZY DIAMOND, MYSTERD!!!

That's because there's nothing else to do on Xbone.
Even less now that I got my 4K TV. Since none of the consoles have gotten their thumbs out of their asses and provided the 4K they said would be available after "launch". My TV has all that built in. So now, literally, XBO is good for... TV. And an occasional Rockband 4 jam.

FO4 was designed to be more cinematic which included voice acting which came at the expense of deeper branching quests since all the dialogue needed to be recorded.  Ironically, there's at least one fairly lengthy quest chain in which you're pretty much forced to be an asshole throughout.  Which isn't much better than forcing you to be "good" and is all the more jarring in contrast to the rest of the game.

WINGAMEWHORE REAAAAAAAAAALLLLLY POOPY BUNDLE ALURT!!!!

ALMOST EMBARASSED TO POST....BUT GIVE ME MY LIKES, DAMMIT!!!!!

My thoughts on Fallout 4 PC boxed copy:

I bought it for $32. I installed the game. I placed it in an envelope heading for Kentucky. Today I received $26 in Amazon credit.

5/5 would play again.

You should turn that Amazon credit into breakfast cereal bux!

Disclaimer: that was sass.

Does Streets of Rage II get added in your library under something else?  I didn't have it or Condemned, but Condemned shows up while Streets doesn't.

The store shows that I own it but when I click play it doesn't install or launch anything.

Edit: Disregard this.  Its under 'Sega Genesis and Mega Drive Classics' pack that I apparently already own.  Can't keep track of the games I own that have their own separate entry let alone games that sneak in through packs like this!

Nuuvem has a promo going on right now, two games for 20 Real (about $5.07). The list is:

  • Cities: Skylines (Edit: THIS IS SOUTH AMERICA ONLY. YOU CAN BUY IT BUT IT WON'T ACTIVATE.)
  • Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - Deluxe Edition
  • Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventures
  • FEAR Trilogy
  • L.A. Noire: The Complete Edition
  • Grand Theft Auto IV: Complete Edition
  • LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham
  • The LEGO Movie - Videogame
  • LEGO Marvel Super Heroes
  • Guardians of Middle-Earth

All are Steam keys and don't appear to be Brazil locked. I just bought Lego Batman 3 and Lego Movie. I didn't have any PayPal issues, but remember I'm South of Gringoland so you may not be able to buy them.

Edit: The games are showing up with their normal price in the store, you have to add them via this promo page to get the discount.

I'm trying to start up the Division beta and I keep on gettin application error 0xc000007b and it won't load up. Anyone else have this problem before and know a fix?
Did you Google that hex-error?

A bunch of games have that issue: that's a common Microsoft package issue w/ games. Might want to check DirectX, Microsoft NET Framework, Visual C++ Packages, and things of that sort.

Good luck.
