I recall playing it in college on a pal's PS2. The presentation was nice, but I recall not being too keen on the racing.

The several-minute unskippable video telling me to wear my seatbelt [which I do religiously anyway] didn't help matters, either.

Burnout's a nice game and probably the only real deal (in terms of gaming per $$) today.

25% off of Shift is a joke.

I'm already anticipating a lousy deal (and no-buy) for the Dragon Age day.

Burnout Paradise is a nice price at $7.49. Too bad I just got it on 360.

I was disappointed at first with my Crysis buy...seems slower than the demo was. Now that I've played with the right combo of high/medium settings and turned off AA (which doesn't seem to improve the look at 1080P anyway), its performing decently and looks beautiful on my budget XNA gaming machine (E5400 with 9600GT).

Agreed, Great price for Burnout, joke for NFS:S, should have been at least 50% off, maybe even 75%.

Hm. I have a loaner copy of Burnout for PS3 from my brother, which I like, but is it worth getting for the PC given that it is now and will always be missing some of the DLC? Or should I save my scratch and pony up an extra $10 for a used PS3 copy at GameStop?

Mmm, Mass Effect day? Count me in. Too bad I missed Crysis ...

I just ordered all brand new PC parts, monitor, keyboard, and a whole new system. Going to put it together this weekend :) Crysis would have been a good stress test for the new gaming rig, that is for sure.

Oh well, eBay, here I come. But I have never played Mass Effect, so I will keep an eye out on Saturday for that deal :)

Is there any DLC that you actually care about? I think the island is ~$13, and I don't know how much the cars are, but at that point you're looking at $30+. I wouldn't pay 4 times as much just to have access to the DLC Island.

IMO, most DLC is unnecessary and overpriced, and I view buying DLC more like a donation to the company for making a game I really like.

I have to agree, you're getting a TON of content for $7.49. If you've really gotta have the islands, then so be it, but the pc version for 7.49 is a killer deal.

I didn't care for Burnout Paradise. The open city was kinda dumb, busywork slogs from race to race, and the fact that EVERY race was a trip to the same 9 goals, and there were no alternate paths (Well, it's an open city, but still, you have one CORRECT path and a bunch of wrong directions.).... It was just a step back from Revenge, in my opinion.

NFS: Undercover , IMO was as close to the old days NFS series has gotten, I played and beat it on 360, cheesy story, instant go to mission and wider variety of cars and locations. Not to say it is the best NFS ever, but better than Shift (GRID wannabe LOL).... I am tempted but have other games plus Wondering how sweet a deal Mass Effect 2 saturday will be and maybe Drangon AGE.

But if you haven't played it, at least kinda liked carbon and underground 2, and did like most of the other NFS series then 5$ is better than a deal it is a steal.....

The only reason I played NFSMW was for the cop chases. Didn't care for the racing.

Will Undercover do me for cop chases the way MW used to or should I save $5 for Iphone games and just reinstall MW?

I agree with this summary (I had the 360 version). Driving from place to place gets very tedious (you spend more time trying to find races than actually racing). The most fun part of Burnout was crash mode, which they removed completely.

It's still not too bad of a bad deal at this price, though... do you get Xbox Achievements in this one? I picked up Batman Arkham when it was on sale, and you get Xbox Live Achievements in it (on the Windows version).

Crash mode is still there except you can just initiate it whenever and it is called Showtime mode now. On the 360 version you hit the right and left bumpers at the same time to activate it and on the PS3 I believe it is R1 and L1 together.

Showtime is not the same as Crash mode. In previous games, there were crash mode levels with specific crash tracks that worked more like a puzzle game. Showtime is just random destruction...

It does have many cop chases, during missions and during free roam (if you care to free roam, I used free roam just a little to get used to any new car). Mission selection is done with d-pad, UP brings you to the map to see available missions, select mission, accept and you are in the mission or down on the d-pad is instant accept whatever closest mission you are near while in free roam. I recall many times once you thought you ended the mission cops pick up on the "illegal street race" and start chasing you where you have to evade them like old NFS title.

If I remember right mission included, Sprints, takedown, circuit, evasion and damage cost amongst others

Mirror's Edge for $5 is a steal. I didn't like on console, but love it with a mouse and keyboard.
Dead Space for $10 seems pretty good. I'm not really into horror, but I'm tempted to pick this up and try it.
Spore for $27? Way too much, IMO.

Dead space is showing up as $14.99 for me but not worried since I have the 360 version and have not played it. I never finished the 360 version of mirror's edge so I might bite. Does it have achievements?

I don't think so. Most (if not all) EA games don't do the whole GFWL thing.

Dead Space is worth every penny of that $10. It's the closest thing I've played to System Shock 2. If you don't have it, you will not regret buying it. Oh, and play it in the dark.
I never finished the 360 version of mirror's edge so I might bite.
For what it's worth, I didn't particularly like it on 360 because of aiming with the joysticks, but I'm completely in love with it on the PC. Navigating with the mouse is so much faster and smother, it makes the whole game feel a lot more fluid.

Both Mirror's Edge and Dead Space are so worth those prices, particularly Mirror's Edge. Such a fantastic game. Controls beautifully on the PC, has a novel and interesting mechanic, and it looks gorgeous. (If you've ever ever made a complaint about modern games being "too brown", then you are legally obligated to buy the game. I'm serious about this.) One of the few complaints you can make against it is that it's pretty short, but for $5 who cares?

A reminder: turn off V-Sync in the options menu for Dead Space. There is a known bug that causes the controls to utterly suck if V-Sync is on. The game looks fine without it (and you can force V-Sync on your video card if you know how), and the controls otherwise work pretty well. I'm currently playing it, and it's pretty darn good. Definitely worth $10.

But everyone at least get Mirror's Edge. It's a breath of fresh air.

There are no achievements for Mirror's Edge on PC, but some of the stuff like speed runs gives it some replayability. For $5 (what I paid during winter sale), it's totally worth it.

Good game. It is honestly frightening sometimes. The ending was something too. I know Deadspace 2 is definitely going to be interesting.

MIrror's Edge is easily worth $5. I played through it originally on PC, then picked it up on PS3 and played it until I got the Platinum trophy. I'm thinking of buying it again just to support the idea of the game. Its one of my top 5 favorite games of this generation.

I have the disc version of both DS and ME - I *may* grab ME on Steam just for convenience, but will wait for DS to drop a bit lower.

I did beat DS and HIGHLY RECOMMEND it for anyone who loves shooters/horror - DEFIANTLY play it in the dark with headphones on. :)

Mirror's Edge and Dead Space are both good values, but they've been at that price already. If you're at all interested in either titles you should give them a shot.

All the Spore pricing is ridiculous.
How is Spore still so expensive? Is it selling that well?
No idea. Maybe lots of people are playing it but don't talk about it like furry porn.

I second the recommendation for both games, although I only played Dead Space on the PC, I played Mirror's Edge on the 360. I also second the recommendation for adjusting the v-sync settings on dead space.
Kinda tempted to pull the trigger on Dead Space... does it work with a controller?
Probably, but you'd be giving up the much better aiming controls with a mouse.
Kinda tempted to pull the trigger on Dead Space... does it work with a controller?
Yes it works with a controller.

Thanks OP. Finally picked Mirror's Edge that I forgot to get during the holiday sale.

Dead Space is tempting me more than Mirror's Edge. Wish the prices were swapped :p

Recently played a creepy-as-hell HL2 mod that reminded me how much I love scary games with headphones on.

EDIT: Hell. I just bought both. Steam strikes again.

Anyone have Spore Galactic Adventures? I always thought the premise would be great to add to the end game. I don't have Spore on steam, though, so I can't make use of the deal, but I'd just like to get somebody's feedback.

Also, so far as Mirror's Edge goes, even though I never plan to go back to it, that game was a good $5 spent.

Yeah, good lord what is the deal with Spore? Why so much? EA has disapointed me again, I really shouldn't be suprised.

I really doubt Dragon Age is going to break the 30 buck mark that I've seen at plenty of other places.

But the convience of Steam is what makes the Dead Space on Steam more attractive to most people more than the Amazon version (like myself)

Ouch, Dead Space for $10? EA, you don't understand why CAG's look forward to Midweek Madness', Weekend Deals, Publisher Weeks, and other Steam sales.

I want Dead Space, but I will not throw my CAGness away by paying that extra $5.
But the convience of Steam is what makes the Dead Space on Steam more attractive to most people more than the Amazon version (like myself)
I wouldn't say that. Some for sure but not most. At this price I'd go steam all the way but if I didn't have the game on ps3 already and I missed this steam deal I would go for the amazon deal all the way. The convenience of steam is only worth about $5 to me. Any more than that I'm going with the cheaper option.
