I'm passing on these. They pale in comparison to the French steelbooks. You know, the ones we got as slipcovers recently.

If the BB ones are really the garish primary color cases I've seen then I totally agree. I have the Amazon Exclusive ultimate edition collection that was around 60 bucks on BF (paid around 80 for it a year ago) and think it's pretty amazing since it has the excellent documentary, 3D discs, UV, and regular films all in a party cool flip book.

Really debating on getting that Harry Potter steelbook set for $100 next week at Best Buy, though it would be a double dip on most of them.

The main problem of course is I really don't have $100 to spare next week lol.

You can always pick them up and take the 15/30/45 days to decide on keeping them. Can't see them dropping below $100 any time soon after release week.

I'm tempted by the HP Steelbooks as well, but it'd be a triple-dip at this point. I have a couple of them individually, the UK complete set (nothing special about it but it was cheaper than the US version), and the Howarts Collection book set (this one). Can't really justify the Steelbooks

Yea, I had the individual movies, the UK LE, the Hogwarts Collection, and the cheap UK set. I'd be quadruple dipping at this point, so I'd only get it if it's the French version.

Though I sold the UK and Hogwarts one already for enough to buy this set a few times over.

Here's a couple of pictures I was able to take of the Harry Potter Steelbooks. Sorry about the bad quality.[attachment=24632:20161202_194247.jpg][attachment=24633:20161202_194304.jpg]

Got my Secret Life of Pets Steelbook from Target. They didn't put the name on the spine and I'm not sure the name is on the front. The title is on the j card but can't tell if there's a title underneath it as well.

What's availability look like? Will probably swing by Target on way home since it sold out on web via SD quickly.

I went to my local store and didn't see any but they were fully stocked with the regular and the poster set copy. A quick search on the site afterwards showed OOS at all the stores in my area. Granted, the site could be inaccurate and I didn't look too hard for a copy at my store...

fuck  me, Secret Life of Pets is long gone and 40 bucks on ebay. Quick question before I potentially chase it down. It appears to have nothing on the spine which might be enough for me to pass and just get a vanilla version cheaper later. Can anyone confirm?

Looks like the Secret Life of Pets steelbook is currently online only at Target (and currently sold out) as no B&M stores seem to have gotten stock in.

It did? I ordered twice, weeks apart.
I think the problem is people wait until the last moment to order and it's sold out by then. I used to be one of those people but quickly learned that if you even think you might want it, just put in an order once the preorder goes live and you shouldn't have an issue. Even if it's a couple weeks after preorders open, I'm still usually able to order. A couple of weeks before it releases and you might have a problem. Otherwise, all you have left is complaining and dealing with scalpers.

asdf $28 for a crappy steelbook.  I'm still considering returning it.  Even bought the reg $10 bluray on BF.

They continually release newer versions for Pixar movies all the time anyways.  And I don't have any other Pixar steelbooks.

Screw it, I'm returning it.   Just talked myself into it.

Not a bad idea. I had a personal intervention on steelbooks recently as I had expanded outside the Disney/Marvel group. I have 7 of the DC animated Target SBs I'm going to sell pretty cheap once I finish the latest Adam West Batman one.

If anyone has an extra Final Fantasy XV Kingsglaive steelbook from Best Buy they'd be willing to sell PM me... BB messed up my order and sent me the wrong movie and now it's OOS online an nowhere in my area has it.

Man that Suicide Squad price is a massive turnoff. I hope it sells horribly so they rethink that becoming the standard price point for 4K steelbooks. I'm cancelling my order right now.

Ghostbusters released at $29.99 if I remember right and was cheaper post-release, plus it also had 4K + 3D + 2D + UV DC.
An excellent example of getting what you pay for. I thought there was no way I'd get rid of it with the unique 3D and complete nature of the package but it's long gone from this household.

Batman v Superman also was sold at a ridiculous price point and that was just for the standard blu-ray.... Didn't it sell at launch for $29.99?
Yeah, and as someone with kids who doesn't see movies with real people in the theatre I blind buy a lot of super hero movies. SvB was one and even with the so called "better" extended cut I thought it was kinda meh. Considering this is more DC stuff from the same studio is it better than BvS? I'm going to keep it around because it still watchable but Suicide Squad looks like it needs to get by on story.

Well, coming from that after seeing BvS a couple times, I ended up enjoying it even though I haven't seen the extended cut yet. I also enjoyed SS immediately. Margot Hazel did a great job as Harley and even though the plot was fairly thin, I just looked at it as the entry point for the SS franchise and a bridge to the big events leading to the JL movie (I presume, no spoilers please).

Margot Hazel? AFAIK, it's Margot Robbie unless she changed her name recently.

Yep, bc the only steelbook version is also 4k UHD.
Still the Jason Bourne 4K steelbook was only $24.99 at Best Buy release week, so they could do less than $35. Granted the Bourne steelbook has one of the most boring steelbook designs I have ever seen....

I'm just glad I got the Suicide Squad steelbook for $17.50 as part of that 4K promotion a few months back when the 2nd item was half price.

Same here. At $17.50, I'm not too broken up about getting it, though $35, I'd be thinking hard about that one and praying for a price drop in the return period. Hopefully Magnificent will drop from its current $29.99 price before release.

I want this steel but I'm gonna wait to see what the forums say as far as quantity in the morning. One of the advantages of being on the west coast is seeing that the east coast reports release day mornings.
I do want this but not for $35. I am hoping the price and fact that the movie was mediocre, at best, will mean they clog the shelves to get a price drop before Christmas.

Huge steelbook fan and definitely not picking up Suicide Squad at that price. Anybody have / know impressions of Targets digibook?

edit: Ordered one online for store pickup (previously wasn't available, so check again if you tried earlier).  Still looking for impressions, but figure if it sucks, I'll just return / not pick it up.
