Anyone know if there's any difference between the Best Buy Star Wars TFA Steelbook and the Regular Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital combo. I just can't figure out what the catch is... Why is the Steelbook so much cheaper? Just because it lacks a Digital version? Same special features and whatnot, right?

My copy came today and it has the Digital copy. Redeemed it with no issues.

My guess is the lower price is because it's "Only @ Best Buy" branded. I've gotten a few CDs in store marked down ridiculously cheap at BB (49 cents to $1.99) and everyone that cheap had that sticker on that there was exclusive Best Buy content. Exact reasoning, not positive but I'd guess it's some sort of safety net when they sign the exclusive deals to get special packaging/bonus content.

 
Yeah. I've gotten the GnR exclusive and Chickenfoot exclusive CDs for under $2 at BB in the past. It's nice when they clearance that stuff out
 
Yep, most likely their exclusivity deals ensure Best Buy is on the hook for all copies in the production run they request from the manufacturer/distributor - no returns for excess inventory. That's why it's so critical to accurately forecast demand. Too few in the production run and you have irate, empty handed customers and resellers/scalpers making the money you left on the table; too many copies and you're losing precious shelf space until you take the loss clearancing them out (or donating them to Goodwill etc.). At least the latter, overproduction glut is a write off.

Part of the problem with this particular title was not only were there a ton of copies available but BB sold it at $27.99 at launch while the standard BR release was at $19.99. They would have sold a lot more copies at launch if they just priced it at $19.99 like the standard release.

I noticed that. For 10 bucks it's killing me not to just add it to the backlog. I'm trying to keep from just accumulating junk though since in the last couple years I've been lucky enough to have a good bit of expendable income.

I still totally regret getting the Suicide Squad SB though.

I'm very disappointed in all of you... How come no one told me that Doctor Strange is up for pre-order. Especially the SteelBook 3D at Best Buy?
