No it's not. Best Buy has sold mnay Disney steelbooks. Even FutureShop has. I'm sure there are others as well.

C'mon! I was getting used to only using Zavvi for Disney steelbooks. I guess it wouldn't be that much cheaper to wait for the zavvi steel considering I'd actually like to use the digital copy. What's Target shipping like? Could I end up in a scenario where I get a damaged steel and go to the store only to find they have no replacements?

Yeah, but there was apparently a big falling out with Disney north america and Steelbook that stopped release of Disney SBs in the US about 4 or 5 years ago.

My only concern is that Target has a history of using the same DPCI for the Steelbook and Amaray versions. Meaning you could get the regular edition even though you pre-ordered the Steelbook edition. However, it appears that there are separate listings and DPCIs for this release, so we might be okay.

Basically, Target has traditionally used a shitty stocking system where they cannot tell the difference between regular editions and Steelbook editions. Therefore, you don't know which one you'll get when you pre-order. And after release, checking in-store stock levels is useless because stores can't differentiate the two editions.

The solution is to treat them as separate items with separate item numbers (or DCPIs in Target lingo). It appears that they are finally doing this for Steelbooks. Therefore, there's a good chance you'll actually get the Steelbook version this time around.

The issue with the DPCI being the same for both versions, that I knew from before. What I was asking about is that this steelbook has a separate DPCI from the non-steelbook release? That's beyond shocking if it's not just a fluke.

 
I think that Big Hero 6 will be a hard to find if not bought on day one

Regular edition (DPCI 246-11-9727)

Steelbook (DPCI 058-30-0778)

Of course, this is all subject to change. But it appears that they'll have separate DPCIs.

If that actually keeps until release, I might actually pre-order this online. Fury and Justice League: Battle For Atlantis are coming out beforehand, as well as Lucy, so those would also be worth checking to see if there are two DPCI #s for each title.

I have a feeling that unless you make it to a store early, Big Hero will be another GOTG with a low number of units that get eaten up by resellers early.

That might be why I pre-order this one, since it does seem to have a separate DPCI # (for now), and one less trip to Target.

One thing I do like about Target releases, stop by before work. Can only do that with BB during the last part of December, though they do allow for in-store pickup orders on pre-orders, so that's helpful.

 
I remember the Wolf of Wall Street steel at Target had the same DPCI as the regular edition too. It was actually helpful in that case because I had a return/rebuy or price match or something that made it an even better deal

Yeah, will definitely be at Target at opening for the BH6 steel. Not messing around when it comes to a Disney steel

The past few exclusives the have had were getting unique DPCI, the only problem that comes out of this will be the price. I've noticed they are more expensive and don't go on sale.
 
You could have gotten the Zavvi Thor 2 Steel, which is essentially the same as the US one, for much cheaper.
