Low level employees wouldn't know how much the company pays for something. That includes store managers.
Best Buy and Frys employees would, the cost of the item is in their retail stock systems. That and their employee discounts are 5 and 10% over cost.

Also, any word of a US John Wick Steelbook?

Agreed.... steelbook art is either a hit or a miss.  There must be an expense involved in more complex artwork that makes it harder for them to produce anything.

oh I did spot some of the new steelbooks at target, minus the indy trilogy ones.  I passed...although I was eyeballing MR for a bit before I left. I am glad that at least target is starting to protect them by putting them into protective cases...either that or they know people are steeling them...hmmm...

I think those protective cases are handled store by store. The one by me doesn't use them at all, but the next one over puts everything in a case

In for that Interstellar steelbook, no lack of 3D version in a steelbook to worry about.
Have you seen the Wal-Mart exclusive for Interstellar yet? It's a Neo case, and it looks beautiful! I'm on the fence on which to get (and I'm actually considering double dipping).

Would this be the one?

If so, that looks amazing. Looks like a double dip is going to happen for me, damn it.

Indeed! Can't believe I'm thinking of double dipping too!
Please don't be offended... But reading these past few passages made me think of giddy school girls.

With that said the neo does look nice... But I'll only get one for myself.

Not offended, and the comments do make it sound like that.

I'm getting the steelbook for certain, though that Walmart Neo case does look quite awesome if it lives up to the pictures.

Yeah, I wish art on the NEO was on the steelbook instead. I may wait for some reviews but I'll likely get the SB if it's easy enough to pick up. If I recall right, Interstellar was kind of a disappointment at the box office.

It was a bit of a disappointment because it was very polarizing of reviews, people either loved it or hated it. I was in the love it group, myself.

Sigh, I hope I can get Fury and Justice League eventually with this huge blizzard hitting the East Coast.
Order them online and at least you know you can get them. They're a bit more expensive online ($20.99 for Justice League and $22.99 for Fury), though as long as you get them by Saturday, you could go in-store and return them and rebuy them at the sale price.

If not, you spent $7 + tax to make sure you get them and not have to go deal with the snow.

EDIT: Don't bother trying to call Target.com to have them PM in-store pricing, as they won't do it. I ran into this earlier, as I don't think I'll have time to run to Target tomorrow and ordered both steelbooks to make sure I had them. I think I'm going to have to run to Target once I get them to do a return + rebuy to get the in-store sale price, since I think they'll be gone in-store by the time I can run to Target on Thursday.

That's actually a good idea. Maybe the website will update and make them available for in-store pickup.
It might be, though the only downside is sometimes, items like this aren't available for in-store pickup when they're marked as "not sold in stores". This obviously is, though Target.com sometimes can be a real useless site for more than one reason.

The other one is sometimes when items like this get released, they can disappear from the site since they're no longer trolling for pre-orders on them. I would be checking on the early side tomorrow AM and see what happens. If you can see them available for in-store pickup, great, otherwise, order them and have them shipped so at least you have them.

On the bright side, if the blizzard is affecting you, then it is affecting everyone else that is also trying to pick up those steelbooks. I'm thinking you'll probably be fine, just don't wait too long after the snow stops.

If it's as bad as I have heard, it's a "keep your ass at home unless it's an emergency" type of storm.

The JL movie shares the same DPCI as the steelbook, so doing instore pick up won't help. Most likely they'll pick a normal copy from the batch.  Fury on the other hand should have it own DPCI like Lucy did.

If you want the new Target Steelbooks (Fury or JL), go early. My store had about 30 copies of Lucy last week. This week they received only 6 copies of Fury and 5 copies of JL (3 of which had spine slashes).

I'm a little surprised Fury didn't get more of an allotment, though I can understand Justice League. I'll try to hit one later today.

Well, crap, guess I have two options, if they're low-stocking Fury and JLA:

1) Go run to Target over lunch and see if the one closest to work has a copy of each, praying none have spine slashes.  Then, return copies sent from my online order after tomorrow.

2) If I can't find any copies in-store and the ones done via online order (shipped separately, good fucking job there, Target :bomb: ) aren't damaged in shipment, return them in-store and then rebuy them at the in-store price.

Be careful not to miss the JL Steelbook; they're only at the front display and it's on like the fourth row.

Missed it the first time I looked, went to the back, then looked row by row at the front on the way out.

This was at Fairview Heights, IL but I'm sure it's the same elsewhere.

I always hit the front registers for steelbooks, as they always seem to have a few there, even if there's none in the main area for movies.

Now I wish I stopped by before work. I rarely have trouble getting stuff after work at one of the Targets on the way home, but now I'm worried.
