This one is pretty out there. I wonder if this is a one-off promotional thing or the beginning of something. I'm trying to track one of these down without having to drive 30 miles for it.

Unless I read it wrong, I just redeemed mine on Vudu and its HDX. When you get the full sized steelbook there is another code in there that should be 4k and hopefully movies anywhere. I usually sell my codes but this went right into my account before I could grab the code. The Vudu code is different from the one on the card.

FYI - I just redeemed the code on my card at Vudu and it gave me the UHD version.

If you were to open the initial website in an incognito browser where you aren't signed in to Vudu (or wherever) you can catch the code in the URL. I actually pulled the code out of the URL and entered that into the Vudu redemption page. I doubt that made a difference, but that's what I did.

Also, to beat a dead horse just one more time - When you redeem your code on www.continentalvip.com, you have the option to buy JW1 or JW2 in UHD for $3.99. Not a bad value in my eyes. I upgraded my HD JW1 to UHD this way.

How do you know which Gamestops got these? I already have the first 2 in 4k but would love the mini steelbook to match the other mini one.

^ worst UHD disc in existence.   Don't buy T2.  It has been DNR'd to death and scrubbed clean of all detail.  It has wax figure people.

You have to call or go in and they will tell you which area stores have it, it’s not searchable on their website or app

Sorry for the late response, but have them search for SKU 203605. A store close to me tried have a store 30 miles away transfer one to their store, but I ended up just going to the distant store (extended my work lunch hour a bit, which is fine by me).

I have the Matrix trilogy steelbook, it's nice but it doesn't come with regular blu-rays. I grabbed Justice league even though I have the other version. Also grabbed The Meg again because my cat climbed on mine and scratched the hell out of it.

 
I can't figure out which Matrix 4K to buy.  If I already own the Ultimate Matrix Collection, would I be fine with The Matrix Trilogy 4K SB set or would I still benefit from buying the individual Matrix movies 4K SB?  My personal preference is leaning me more towards the 4K Trilogy because I like the price better and I like the kitty cat on the cover.

I have both the DVD and Blu-ray Ultimate collections, and I still went with the individual steelbooks. Figured it would look better as separates once the Matrix 4 steelbook is released.

Anybody make it out to a Best Buy and get a chance to see quantity available on each these Disney steelbooks in store?  Interested in them but like most, willing to wait for a sale.  Doesn't look like they're selling out online.

Steelbooks are always weird though. I figured due to the low ratings, I could wait for a sale on Dark Phoenix and there's no preorders within 35 miles of me.

 
Passing on all these worthless Pixar steelbooks.  There will be a some more to buy in a few weeks with GotG, Doctor Strange, and Ant-man.  Also art has leaked for some of the upcoming Disney Animation Studios steelbooks and they look amazing, like import quality.

See there are going to be so many more great ones to buy.  You gotta prioritize, and should easily skip the boring Pixar steels. Disney is bombing us with releases right now and it's out of control.  My store had about 10+ of each Pixar on display though. 

I went to Best Buy on Tuesday specifically to get the Casino 4K steelbook but it doesn't it doesn't look very nice at all with a very lackluster, dull finish.  So I picked up the standard edition slip instead which looks excellent.

I’m a Disney/Pixar fan but can’t being myself to spend $35 each on that crap artwork. There have been prior steelbook/metalpak/ironpack releases with better artwork that I already have so I’ll just buy the 4K discs elsewhere and throw them in the better previously releases steels

If recent history with the older Marvel 4K re-releases is an indicator, the sale would be $5 off on occasion. Maybe there will be a bigger sale for BF or something.

Are these going to be 4K? That makes the most sense, which means that these will probably be the standard $35 each. Someone at Disney is hitting the dump button and trying to buy all of these in a short time is going to be painful to EVERYONE. We need a more "slow burn" approach to these releases, because the Marvel 4K steels are still just sitting there...

Disney is probably trying to get as much physical media revenue before Disney+ debuts in November
 
There's a lot of speculation over what is going on, with many people guessing a small level of conspiracy.   Some people are doomsaying that it's the end of physical media from Disney.  Which I think is a REALLY strange hot take; everything gets a physical release so therefore it's the impending death of physical media?  No, I don't think so.  That's just weird.  I believe that it's nothing more than that Disney needed to create new 4K scans for all of these movies to stream them in UHD anyways, before launching them on their digital service.  So they might as well launch them all physically and make a ton of money off them in the process.

Wow those are trash. I wouldn't even double-dip for 4k regardless. Getting more detail out of hand-drawn or CGI isn't exactly eye-popping.

 
I was at Walmart today and they had a Rocketman steelbook Bluray 27.96 it wasn’t too nice.

Out of the Pixar steelbooks I grabbed Finding Nemo as I missed the last one and still just had the dvd so it felt like a worthwhile upgrade.

Im not a sky is falling type when it comes to physical media, it will always be my personal preference BUT I do think with this huge push of all these steelbook and 4K releases for a ton of titles they are trying to get as much revenue as they can from physical media before the launch of Disney+.
Us steelbook collectors are niche and hardcore, they know they have us already but with the monthly subscription starting at $8, a lot of causal watchers will opt for that instead of spending $30+ for 4K, steelbook releases

Godzilla and Detective Pikachu got price drops too but you can only get a price adjustment if you are Elite (Godzilla) or Elite Plus (Pikachu)
 
I picked up Dark Phoenix yesterday.  I know the movie didn't do too well, but surely they could afford a higher res photo for the front of the SB case...

On a different topic - If any of these Marvel or Pixar 4K re-releases last long enough for BF, would it be reasonable to think that they would go deeper on sale than the $29.99 I've seen them for? If they drop to even $24.99 I would consider picking up the Marvel movies.

 
The steel books, probably not - the regular editions, I could see those dipping to $15 or so like Guardians did in 2018.

 
Well, finally got my 10% off birthday coupon at BB, but its only good until 9/30 and only good on items that aren't on sale.  Video games are out since I still have GCU and it overrides the discount.  Will probably settle on a regular priced steelbook.  Leaning towards Game of Thrones Season 8 or IT Chapter 2.
