Street Fighter IV - Gen Discussion & Info

Picked it up today. I'm pretty surprised there are no online quarter matches. Both of the XBLA versions have it...why not this one?

It was a cool idea to allow an online opponent to challenge you while you play Arcade mode, but stupid to not have an option limiting this to friends only.

Other than those complaints, the game is fun.
 
There's no online quarter matches because the online for this was done totally by a Japanese developer... They generally do NOT know online play compared to American devs.

Well, this is where the publisher should step in and say, hey guys...look what we had on our last two XBLA releases, put this in the game. It's not exactly something that should be difficult to implement. Very disappointing.

Don't talk about the lifeblood of CAG like that - a clique and some mods. They'll give you infractions.

Who have you been using and what do you think of the offline play?
 
I've always been a Honda man, since the original SFII. I've only played for an hour or so, but so far, so good.

Cheapy, could you do a detailed writeup of the game's online mode and other features? That'd surely get a lot of hits since most of us are still waiting to play the game...

I just picked this game up from my free 360 game thing but I'm worried about getting my ass handed to me online. I played a little of SF when I was little but mostly on the SNES at my friends house. I was never good back then but I always enjoed the game, how good are the training modes? Is it fairly easy to pick up the focus/dash system?

With how well Capcom seems to "get it" and break the mold of the typical Japanese developer, I was surprised to see that the online set up for this game is actually inferior (mode wise) to say...Dead or Alive Ultimate on the Xbox 1 and, as you mentioned, their own previous games :lol:
 
Its been all over GAF and some Japanese screen shots have shown up with what looks like quarter matches. From what I have heard you cant spectate the match that is going on though.

Although I prefer it this way as it keeps the lag down, I would rather play with 1 dude at a time then 8 dudes watching taking forever to get back, and then have it lag like a bitch.

Good stuff if true, keeps down the lag.[/quote]No. That's good news, I guess, but no speculation kinda stinks. The netcode seems pretty solid as even playing people from Japan/Hong Kong/whatever seemed to work without any lag. I guess it'll just depend on your connection.
 
My guess is Target or Toys R Us will break the street date later this weekend.

Have those Text message deal alerts set from street date broken or any Instant RSS feeds on your cell phone so you can know immediately if anyone reports the Street Date being broken

Yeah, I placed a pre-order for the LE at Gamestop. I'll post in the FGT later today.
 
So wait, you're telling me that RANDOM PEOPLE can challenge you while you're going through Arcade Mode? If that's true, that's horrible.

Interesting.... in this video it says you can unlock everyone very easy.

However i read somewhere else that
to get akuma you need to beat arcade with like 2 perfects and 2 super moves or something that sounds hard. Same with unlocking Seth.

So which is it?

Congrats! If you don't mind me asking, was it from your GS B&M pre-order or somewhere else? I talked to my local GS manager and she said that other stores outside of the Greater Cincy area had received sticks, but nothing around where I live. She said my pre-order TE Stick should be there on Monday, but if not, she said she'd have another GS that had a TE in stock ship it to that store. Crossing my fingers I get it before I get my CE box for SFIV on Tues.

It was my GS preorder. They only had 2 preorders, but they had sticks that shipped one day and then some that shipped later.

If they say Monday, that's probably likely. Seems their shipments went out at different times. Had a chance to play with it quickly and my god, is it perfect. I don't think I've played with a stick that felt so natural.

Got it from GS. It was the only one that they had too.
